boniva

Avatar f tn I monitor this site for info on my eye condition. I do not know if the papilloma specifically is related, but Boniva and drugs like it can cause swelling around the eyes as you describe. Just read any website discussing adverse effects of Boniva. I think it worth discussing with your doctor. You should be very aware and cautious of any facial swelling while on Boniva.
Avatar f tn I heard yesterday that Boniva would cause eye disorders called uveitis and sleraderma? Does this bone medicine cause eye problems? I have an eye disorder called Fuchs cornea dystrophy and have recently had cataract surgery in both eyes ;however one eye keeps feeling irritated.
Avatar f tn It is now diminishing in size and I am hopeful it will vanish but I hesitate to continue on Boniva.
1026267 tn?1257591273 Boniva is perscribed both ways and I have neglected to ask the doctor why she perscribed the daily one. When I asked pharacist about the price (last year) it was $200/mo regardless of whether it was taken daily or monthly. Now that I have a different perscription plan, Endo thinks I should check the price again. It isn't just the price that is making me anxious, it is the fact that I wonder if it is a sure preventative.

Avatar n tn in order to treat osteo you need to be on fosmax/ boniva or like substances and have hrt. your doctor you should sue.... because he perscribed it while having the knowledge of your bone health knowing it decreases the amount of calcium in your bones.
Avatar m tn Please go to Parathyroid.com and read -it has TONS of info about hypercalcemia and its symptoms, as well as parathyroid disease and some other possibilities. Hypercalcemia is exactly what brought me here to begin asking questions and I discovered I had a parathyroid tumor (not cancer and only a big deal if you don't get it removed).
Avatar f tn I was taking the hormones to help my bones, as I have osteopenia and rheumatoid arthritis. I am on prescription drugs to help the bones (Boniva and calcium and vit. d). I'm worried about breast cancer with continuing the hormones. I had a partial mastectomy on my right breast which was benign. I had a cluster of microcalcifications which looked supicious, but turned out to be benign (big sigh)! Okay now my question.
Avatar f tn My mom is 53 and is sufering from Hyprcalcemia but Doctors are unable to diagnose her. She has been tested for Cancer with a bone marrow and all they said was that she had no cancer but they are concerned because she has plasma and protein in her bllod cells. She is always tired, sleepy and has heart palpitations but EKG's come out normal. She also has sver headaches and her bones ache and is depresed. She does not have hyperthiroidism. HELP!
Avatar m tn I would go to www.parathyroid.com and read through the material - see the symptoms involved. With high calcuim - low PTH and VIT D you fit the profile. What kind of doctor are you seeing at this time?
Avatar m tn or do i have to worry about it also i mostly feel thirsty and hungry all other electrolytes are fine.can i have any kind of cancer cause of high calcium?
Avatar n tn I do not think are any real correlations between hypercalcemia at the level you are describing and heart attacks. We do sometimes see arrhythmias of the heart in patients with hypocalcemic (low calcium) and could possibly see an arrythmias (abnormal heart rhythm) in a patient with hypercalcemia but I think this would be at a higher level such as 14-15 or so.
Avatar n tn 25 which rules out a parathyroid tumor. Head to toe bone scans and bone xrays are normal as are abdominal and chest Ct scans and chest xrays and abdominal ultrasounds. Ruled out Familial type of hypercalcemia, ruled out multiple myeloma as well as pancreatic cancer, thyroid and parathyroid cancer, bone cancer, chest cancer. His spleen is enlarged. There is a small kidney stone and a small cyst on his kidney they weren't worried about. Not of Jewish descent.
Avatar f tn I am searching for answers and have had much anxiety over this ongoing issue. For the past 3 years or so I've had mild hypercalcemia ranging between 10.6 and 10.9 usually. Last week my serum Ca. was 11.4 one day and 11.5 two days later. All other levels including phosphate have repeatedly appearead to fall in the normal range, except I did a 24 hr. urine collection and my calcium level was 323. For the past 2 weeks I've been experiencing heart palpitations as well.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis and have noticed that recently I have a lot of pain in my teeth and jaw. This has prompted me to wonder if osteoporosis affects the teeth in general as they are inbedded in bone? And how so?
Avatar f tn bones , groans, emotional overtones Ovarian cysts are common and that one is tiny. I would definately get a follow up scan perhaps a pelvic MRI If a cause of hypercalcemia is not found, you should have that ovary removed. There is an extremely rare cancer called a small cell cancer that produces hypercalcemia.
Avatar f tn A few weeks ago I read the pages of parathyroid.com and noticed that hypercalcemia often induces arrhythmias, eg. atrial fibrillation. Last year I had persistent flimmer for six months, until an electric cardioversion after one week's medication with Multaq took it out. I have elevated levels of calcium and PTH in my blood. When I read about the symptoms of primary hyperparathyroidism on Parathyroid.
Avatar f tn The technician looked at my med list and asked if I am taking Boniva and Synthroid. I answered yes. I take other meds other than those two she mentioned. I told her that I understood why she asked about the Boniva but I didn't understand why she asked about Synthroid. She told me that thyroid meds take from the bones and causes osteoporosis. WHAT??? How come no doctor ever told me?
Avatar f tn I've been reading about placental calcification and can't seem to find an answer to this question. I've had mild hypercalcemia for a few years and have aslo had 2 late miscarriages (consecutively) at 18 weeks. Can hypercalcemia cause placental calcification or am I way off track ? I don't smoke, so that's not a factor. Except the elevated calcium (usually about 10.9 to 11.0) I am a healthy woman who has had healthy, uncomplicated pregnancies before this calcium issue.
1699175 tn?1320125691 Certain drugs — such as lithium, which is used to treat bipolar disorder — may increase the release of parathyroid hormone and cause hypercalcemia. Thiazide diuretics can cause elevated calcium levels in your blood by decreasing the amount of calcium you excrete in your urine. Supplements. Eating or drinking too much calcium or vitamin D supplements over time can raise calcium levels in your blood above normal. Dehydration.

Avatar f tn I was told that it would worsen after the chemo (carbo/taxoterre), and it did. Not terribly, but a decrease in bone mass just that same. I started on Boniva and my cholesterol shot up about 120 points. I just stopped that recently and my numbers dropped by 80 points. Seems there are downsides for everything. Now taking Viactiv with vitamins D & K, 3 chews a day. Will have another bone density next April. I also am fairly physically active and hope that will help.
Avatar f tn extremely swollen right leg especially around knee joint - could not even bend knee, terrible hip pain and two days later a tooth abscess. What are the chances I can tolerate Boniva once a month? My Endocrinologist wants me to try it.
Avatar n tn I have had very little problems with Prolia. I've done 4 injections over the past 2 years. Just a little bit of bone pain for the first 2 wks after the injection then, it goes away. That said, unfortunately, for me, my DEXA did not improve and my osteoporosis in my spine (the T-score) did not get better. Now, my doctor is sending me to a 'bone' clinic that apparently specializes in bone disorders such as osteoporosis.
Avatar n tn I just don’t see any references anywhere to conditions that exist when calcium is high and PTH is low. Everything I have read about hypercalcemia talks about high calcium with high PTH or hypocalcemia with low calcium and low PTH. Anybody have any experience or knowledge about conditions that might arise in a generally healthy person with high calcium and low PTH? Thank you!
