Common Questions and Answers about Boniva and extractions

boniva

Avatar f tn I monitor this site for info on my eye condition. I do not know if the papilloma specifically is related, but Boniva and drugs like it can cause swelling around the eyes as you describe. Just read any website discussing adverse effects of Boniva. I think it worth discussing with your doctor. You should be very aware and cautious of any facial swelling while on Boniva.
Avatar f tn I heard yesterday that Boniva would cause eye disorders called uveitis and sleraderma? Does this bone medicine cause eye problems? I have an eye disorder called Fuchs cornea dystrophy and have recently had cataract surgery in both eyes ;however one eye keeps feeling irritated.
Avatar f tn It is now diminishing in size and I am hopeful it will vanish but I hesitate to continue on Boniva.
1026267 tn?1257591273 Boniva is perscribed both ways and I have neglected to ask the doctor why she perscribed the daily one. When I asked pharacist about the price (last year) it was $200/mo regardless of whether it was taken daily or monthly. Now that I have a different perscription plan, Endo thinks I should check the price again. It isn't just the price that is making me anxious, it is the fact that I wonder if it is a sure preventative.

Avatar n tn in order to treat osteo you need to be on fosmax/ boniva or like substances and have hrt. your doctor you should sue.... because he perscribed it while having the knowledge of your bone health knowing it decreases the amount of calcium in your bones.
Avatar f tn I was taking the hormones to help my bones, as I have osteopenia and rheumatoid arthritis. I am on prescription drugs to help the bones (Boniva and calcium and vit. d). I'm worried about breast cancer with continuing the hormones. I had a partial mastectomy on my right breast which was benign. I had a cluster of microcalcifications which looked supicious, but turned out to be benign (big sigh)! Okay now my question.
Avatar f tn If you have issues with your teeth and need extractions, it's not at all unlikely that the bacteria is affecting your head. The bacteria in tooth decay, streptococcus mutans, is a bad one. It's considered dangerous for a woman to have in her body when pregnant, and there is even research suggesting it's a factor in people getting Altzheimer's.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis and have noticed that recently I have a lot of pain in my teeth and jaw. This has prompted me to wonder if osteoporosis affects the teeth in general as they are inbedded in bone? And how so?
Avatar f tn The technician looked at my med list and asked if I am taking Boniva and Synthroid. I answered yes. I take other meds other than those two she mentioned. I told her that I understood why she asked about the Boniva but I didn't understand why she asked about Synthroid. She told me that thyroid meds take from the bones and causes osteoporosis. WHAT??? How come no doctor ever told me?

Avatar f tn I was told that it would worsen after the chemo (carbo/taxoterre), and it did. Not terribly, but a decrease in bone mass just that same. I started on Boniva and my cholesterol shot up about 120 points. I just stopped that recently and my numbers dropped by 80 points. Seems there are downsides for everything. Now taking Viactiv with vitamins D & K, 3 chews a day. Will have another bone density next April. I also am fairly physically active and hope that will help.
Avatar f tn extremely swollen right leg especially around knee joint - could not even bend knee, terrible hip pain and two days later a tooth abscess. What are the chances I can tolerate Boniva once a month? My Endocrinologist wants me to try it.
Avatar n tn I have had very little problems with Prolia. I've done 4 injections over the past 2 years. Just a little bit of bone pain for the first 2 wks after the injection then, it goes away. That said, unfortunately, for me, my DEXA did not improve and my osteoporosis in my spine (the T-score) did not get better. Now, my doctor is sending me to a 'bone' clinic that apparently specializes in bone disorders such as osteoporosis.
Avatar f tn Hi, my kitties have had lots of cleanings and extractions over the years and never have had Antib's before the procedure. And we're only ever given a 5 day round after extractions not after just a cleaning. So glad you didn't allow convienia.....
Avatar f tn He wants me to have my extractions done on my top teeth, I currently have 7 teeth, 6 are classified as simple extractions and 1 as a surgical because it is broken. In the past, my teeth have come out easily and I have been told that I have short roots and typically within a day or 2, I am back to normal, just have to be careful where I chew. My question is this, I am scheduled to have my extractions on a Friday morning.
Avatar m tn I would expect you to be able to go to work after the extractions. Eating may be somewhat difficult though so its important to make sure you get proper nutrition and drink enough fluids during the recovery time. Unfortunately I'm not sure how difficult the extraction will be and I don't think you'll get a great answer until the extractions are done and the doctor has a better idea of how difficult or easy the extractions were.
Avatar n tn She has not changed her diet or any meds. She is a creature of habit and eats and does the same things every day. She is 90 yrs old and still very able and mobile. She is on Lopressor 25mg, Mucinex 600mg, Aspirin 162mg, Aldactone 25mg, Lasix 20mg, OTC multivitamin, OTC calcium 500mg, and OTC iron. Her BP runs consistently in the 130's/70's with her pulse in the mid 60's.
Avatar m tn But her bone density tests (I think) are fine. One physican gave her Synthroid, another told her to stop. One perscribed Boniva, another said no, cause she is a young lady. Here are her labs. Any comments? Bone Marker Tests: TP1NP: 26.57 (Range: 20.00 to 100.0 ng/ml) Vitamins D: 42.27 (Range: 50.00 to 100.0 nmol/l) Osteocalcin: 19.49 (Range: 11.00 to 43.00 ng/ml) B-CTx: . 265 (Range: ???) Avatar n tn s response, may also be from the dentist pushing and hence traumatizing this tooth in order to pry and elevate the other one out...... if this is the case, it should improve-- but i would ask your dentist.
Avatar n tn t take for because it can cause a heart attack and being I do not numb I have to be put under for the tooth extractions. Make sure you tell your dentist about your heart condition and he will tell you to get a medical clearance first because he will not touch you.
Avatar f tn Hi, I posted on Community, but really meant to ask my question here. I recently had a mammogram which showed findings of a cyst. I needed additional views, so I returned three days later for a second mammogram of the left breast only, and it showed a nodule. I had an ultrasound the same day which showed an 8 mm benign cyst and several other subcentimeter benign cysts, some with low internal echoes (what are internal echoes?
1283844 tn?1447474493 Is any thing other than salt water safe to use since I still have stitches and had recent extractions?
Avatar n tn Another great benefit is the sinus lift, they had dropped into where I had upper extractions done. I have not had a sinus headache for days, and that is rare, especially as I am living with the smoke from the California wildfires. I would recommend this to anyone and my doctor has been a huge blessing.
