Blood sugar range for child

Common Questions and Answers about Blood sugar range for child

Avatar n tn Is there a difference between the way refined and natural sugars affect the liver? Could sugar be a factor in treatment? Has this ever been studied, or is there even a need for that? For those of you who have attained SVR, how much sugar did you eat during treatment?
Avatar n tn i have also been diagnosed with secondary adrenal insufficiency----and i learned that cortisol is what regulates your blood sugar. i've had my blood sugar drop on me when i went from sitting to standing off and on for years--but it hasn't been an issue in a while for me---it is a symptom of adrenal problems, though.
Avatar n tn She's very compliant with all of the routines for her care. However, she does still have high blood sugar readings--sometimes at night in the 300 or even 400 range. She still has readings in the 50s or 60s, as well. A friend mentioned this meant she was "brittle"--I know that term is vague, but I'm wondering what other parents experience? On the pump, should she typically be at or near her target (140)--or are these big swings typical?
Avatar n tn We see the gastro doc in a few days but my child is still puking every morning! For some reason I think it has do with blood sugar, she has always been one to crash if she hasn't eaten. Her fasting level was 86. What do you think?
Avatar f tn g) maybe he is not getting enough sleep or is feeling foggy or disoriented due to low blood sugar from a high sugar diet, or allergies or.. or.. or... I'm not saying ANY of this is the case. I'm just saying that you need to start by listening to your child. What does HE think is going on in his head.
Avatar n tn *excessive thirst * excessive urination * excessive hunger * weight loss * fatigue * blurred vision * sugar and ketones in the urine I can also tell you the “normal” BG range is 80-120 (some might suggest 70-120) but you can see your son isn’t too far out of the range, with the exception of the one at 158, however one blood sugar doesn’t a diagnosis make…unless it is extremely high.
Avatar n tn My child in going to be 4 in Sept. She weighs 27 pound. For a while we have had problems with her bowels off and on., She gets sores in her mouth which we took out her tonsils and shaved adnoid she has a cleft. Now she complains about her stomach alot has started wetting her pants alot. She wakes up at night with leg cramps. The Dr has done test and the only thing ever comes back is her thyroid is low but not enough to treat.
Avatar f tn he is not growing out of it (like my mom thinks) and his fits will last for easily an hour. he went on and on in a car for 2 whole hours! we are just so fed up right now. we are desprate for help, and were afraid of how bad he will hurt us when he gets older.
Avatar n tn Agitation / Irritation / Aggression / Confusion Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a life-threatening complication in patients with untreated diabetes mellitus (chronic high blood sugar or hyperglycemia). Near complete deficiency of insulin and elevated levels of certain stress hormones combine to cause DKA.
Avatar n tn when he was 1year old he had diarrhea and went into a seizure due to losing fluids he was taken by ambulance to ER his blood sugar level dropped to 8 he spent several weeks in the Hospital. They tested him for kidney damage. He has been pretty healthy ever since just common colds etc. What is your opinion?
Avatar n tn I see allot of people on here have the same issue as I do with my daughter. Had anyone gotten any helpful feed back as to what to do?? When she runs out of people that will listen, she'll just keep talking herself. She just turned 6 two days ago but this has been going on for a over a year. Patience is something I think I once had but muster up strength every day to deal. I just hold in my frustration and scream inside while I walk away from her.
1813627 tn?1337725975 I had a psycal at my primary at the end of Oct before I got pregnant and they did a full Pannel which includes your sugar level and the one test that shows your average sugar level which is all in normal range. So I don't know.
Avatar n tn check blood sugar. Some say they can tell by just how they feel but this is a rare if not at all condition. Because the body it self monitors continuously we have to monitor using blood glucase meters. Even though this may seem a cruel way to gain information, the slight hurt is nothing compared to the complications it can prevent.
Avatar n tn I totally agree with the advice that has been given to you. Most articles that discuss normal ranges of blood sugar for people who are not diabetic list the range of "normal" as being between about 70-140. I believe that some doctors consider a blood sugar higher than about 150 after a meal as diabetic. So your son's sugar levels in the 200's do warrant some tests. We wish you the best.
Avatar n tn My 6 year old daughter asked my sister-in-law to sick her finger with her meter, (as crazy as that sounds) she always wants to do something weird. Her number for the blood sugar was 262, now this was after a day at the lake with alot of juice boxsand snack consumption, but today when she woke up it was 220. What should I do!
Avatar n tn Was sent to the hospital numerous test were done on my heart, lungs, head all test came back normal except my blood pressure keeps dropping in the low range for me . My normal pressure runs about 110/70 but lately when it drops it has got down to 85/35 and even lower But the dr still has not found what is causing this.
306259 tn?1204773075 She does notice that too much sugar makes her feel a bit worse, so she tends to avoid sugar. Her glucose test were fine. Visit the webpage for detailed into. I do appreciate your concern. You know how frustrating this is. To watch your child so ill and not be able to even give a definitive reason for it is awful. She starts college in the fall and plans to be a Pediatric Neurologist. She wants to eventually open an autonomic clinic in Louisiana (our state).
Avatar n tn Fluctuation is to be expected throughout the day, for it is IMPOSSIBLE to keep a child's blood sugar in the perfect range at all times, for activity levels change throughout the day. If your daughter were to do finger pricks every 3 hours, she will see a wide range of numbers as glucose levels go up and down all day. So tell your daughter not to panic over glucose numbers that bounce around...
Avatar n tn You might have entro but I had clotting, and I didn't. Don't feel embarassed for asking. The darkish brown blood is old blood. Sometimes they give females D&C's to clean them out, but since you are only 17 I wouldn't think you need that. Being on pill can help it though.
Avatar f tn Your son should be a good candidate for the pump,if his blood sugars were in normal range, he would'nt need the pump, so I don't know what your doctor is on about. Keep asking that's what I did and hopefully he'll get one soon!
Avatar n tn look for autonomic nervous system problem. table tilt and sensory nerve tests sweat test which is hard to do.
Avatar n tn It was about the third or forth hour and my blood sugar suddenly was at low 70's for the last hour or two. I felt sick as a dog when my blood sugar tanked down to the 70's. For the rest of the day I felt awful (even after I ate), and I even felt "hung over" from it the next day. I can't imagine that 70's level is OK after feeling that bad. I ate carbs (pasta) after the last blood test and it made me feel even worse.
Avatar n tn On one occasion I asked Dr. DeAdamo (Eat right for your blood type) and was told to take bioflavonoids for it. I am beginning to take the supplement now, since the vessel popping has become too annoying to ignore.
Avatar f tn Would recommend you test his fasting levels (ideally for a child these are in the 70 - 90 range, preferably lower end). Also test about 1.5 - 2 hours after he has eaten. If his levels are normal then he would be < 120 peak, and possibly even below 100. If you have caught this early it is great news... because you can manage it well. Lower carb is healthy for a child. Look up the facebook group type1grit.
Avatar f tn This would make him feel hungry! If his blood sugar is elevated (normal range 80-120), it can be harming his body. His Father really needs to understand this so he can be checked as soon as possible.
748543 tn?1463449675 For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.
578865 tn?1218003943 Therefore, I seriously forgot about the hyperthyroidism for a whole year. My gyno reminded me at my annual visit a few days ago, I got my blood tested again and it was gone!!! Dont ask me how because i dont know what i did to cure it..
Avatar n tn I was told that a normal fasting (before eating or 2 hrs after eating) level for kids was between 80 to 180. Both or your kids fall right in that range. Also, be aware that if you haven't washed your hands (or if the finger you poked on the twin wasn't washed since the last time he ate), you can contaminate the blood glucose strip and it will read higher than it should (even if you don't see anything on your hands).
