Avatar f tn I was happy I finally kicked that nasty habit of biting my nails and they started to grow but now there all breaking off
Avatar f tn My 20 month old son is biting his nails and crunching his teeth even in his sleep.. I have noticed that during the weekend he sometimes stops biting his nails but starts again in the week, (he goes to daycare). I have asked his day care provider if there are any kids who bite their nails and she said none.
Avatar f tn Not sure why biting one's nails would "damage" them. It can annoy onlookers, but all you're doing is cutting your nails with your teeth instead of a tool. How wide the pink is I'm guessing is more dependent on who you are than anything else. Health and length of nails is dependent on your diet. I bit my nails for years as well, and when I stopped, they just grow now and I have to take the time to cut them. I preferred biting them, frankly.
Avatar f tn I was exactly like you, sir, or ma'am. Honestly, when ever you start biting your nails, eat sun flower seeds. I do it to this day and haven't bitten my nails for months. Sun flower seeds will keep your tongue and teeth busy. In a couple weeks it'll help you stop biting your nails. Try it! I hope it helps.
Avatar f tn I have a horrible habit of biting my nails, and I ended up having tiny pieces of nail circulating in my mouth. At the same time, I started getting a pain between two of my teeth. Therefore, I thought I'd gotten a piece of nail stuck, and attempted to remove it with floss and even thin cotton. After no show from a piece of nail, I started to see blood on the floss and cotton, and stopped, fearing further injury. The only other possibility was that I'd cut myself between my teeth slightly.
Avatar n tn p cuz i dont think i will stop biting, but i wana to be once as a lady and color my nails, i let them once before and i like my hand with tall nails, but retain a gain to do the same my mom said that cuz u are nervous, thinking in something, or need more pation from someone ! but that for all house !
Avatar f tn I really have a problem with nail biting and REALLY REALLY REALLY want to stop anybody else have this problem or has conquered this?
Avatar f tn I have never had nails. I cant peel an orange or pick up a quarter, biting is something I've always done. Whenever I see white it just has to go! ill bite my toes even. Whenever I had a professional job interview or college interview, my dad would always tell me "Make sure you sit on your hands!" even as hard as I would try I would always somehow subconsciously find my hand in my mouth.
3114286 tn?1342470225 it would be the same bad habit as biting your nails.... or smoking... Nothing really can help unless you just stop doing it...
Avatar n tn Refrain from smoking, biting your nails, biting the lips and licking the lips as this may only aggravate the condition. If this is a mucocele, this is benign and may be persistent for quite some time. They may resolve but others may be more persistent. However, mucoceles rarely give any problems. Moisturize your lips and drink plenty of water everyday. Take vitamins and use a mild toothpaste when brushing the teeth.
Avatar f tn I'm a 14 yr old girl with a great life most of the time, not much drama and i do well at school with stress only during the really big tests so i dont understand why i bite my nails and do so till they bleed. I've bitten my nails since i was little and recently I have been trying everything i can think of to stop. The one main thing I've figured out is this addiction to biting my nails overcomes my willpower.
Avatar f tn Biting your nails can be a coping mechanism to help with being nervous. I used to bite mine down to the nubs. Do you remember anything in your childhood that made you start doing this? I would recommend counseling. They will help show you ways to relax. I would also recommend a therapist that specializes in CBT.
Avatar f tn I'm a high school kid who has experienced depression and is currently experiencing anxiety. You see, I used to have long, strong, thick nails. I was quite proud of them (mainly because they were my main self harm tools). But, due to anxiety, I started biting my nails down. Now, they don't even grow past the tip of my finger. I always keep them super short. I also bite off the skin around my nails, and try to tear away my cuticles.
Avatar f tn ever since i was little ive biten my nails. in the past year ive gone from biting them when im nervous or bored to hacking at the nail and the skin around them with nail clippers and even scaples. whats wrong with me. i often cant stop until it hurts and there bleeding... what could this be caused by?
564710 tn?1217719711 Okay, so I wasn't sure where to post this so.. And I saw one past that was here and I figured this wasas good a place as any. So, I'm 14 years old and my parents yell at me any time I start biting my nails. I've been biting them all my life. But when I bring up the fact that they can buy me things on the market to help control my bad habit, they refuse and say I need to use my will power. Only problem is I'm not a very willful girl.
Avatar m tn My 5 year old has a very bad habbit of biting her nails! She bites them so much that she has made her fingers bleed a time or two. I don't know if I should ignore this and hope it passes or fight the battle. We have talked about germs and health concerns with doing this but it is not working. HELP! She also has a bad habbit of "holding it" instead of using the bathroom. We have talked about this too and when I think we are making progress I feel like we are back to square one.
Avatar n tn Interestingly, when I was pregnant I stopped biting my nails. However, when I was no longer pregnant I began again. The nails come in stronger during pregnancy and I think hormones are involved in this somehow. I also find that if I cut out caffiene the biting can lessen a lot. Too bad I love coffee. I find that if I get a ragged edge on my nail, I am completely unable to combat biting and of course that just makes it worse.
Avatar f tn Would this be for revenge? I don't see the protection angle, since a cat can bite just as fiercely with the teeth you are proposing to leave in his mouth, even if the canines were pulled. Does the cat bite because he is being mishandled, or because he was once feral and now has that deferred aggression thing feral cats sometimes have? We have one like that, and just don't pat him much, because we don't feel he's trustworthy.
Avatar f tn Suprisingly most of the time it's harder to groom a small dog than a big dog. lol. With big dogs the teeth are further away from their back ends, and their feet. It's easier to properly hold a big dog, and make them comfortable. We would trim and bathe dogs at the animal hospital in Florida I use to work for. There was one chihuaha that came monthly to get his nails clipped, and the kennel would always ask me to clip his nails while they held him. Poor baby was just scared.
Avatar f tn m at home doing nothing really ill pick off the skin on my tongue with my nails then in public I just use my teeth and rip off the skin . Idk why it feels good to me ... That pain just feels good till the next day. Then I regret it because I can't even eat! Like right now I'm in a hardcore mode of biting my tongue!
Avatar m tn I'm 21 years old man.I have a strange habit of biting my fingernails and playing with them in my mouth and finally i used to bite them to pieces and chew them. I have been doing these for years. I'm weighing 52 kg. Many say that 52 is very less for my age. I haven't seen any improvement in my weight for 5 years. Is my underweight is due to chewing fingernails. I used to skip breakfast for nearly 8 years.
Avatar m tn I really didnt think it was risky but then became worried as i noticed my finger has a small cut from biting my nails and i now have some pain in my finger. I figured it may be bacterial but i wanted to be safe and ask. Thanks!
1744544 tn?1311299862 I tried to change tooth paste, mouth wash, different foods and drinks, I chew gum, nothing seems to work and its damaging my teeth from the excessive chewing. People tell me that I can stop, but I honestly cant. I only chew the tip, and around the edge, and sometimes if I feel as if I have a 'swollen taste bud' on the top (close to the front) then I will chew the top as well.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your reply! I'm sure he's not biting - I've never seen him bite his nails (he's 8.5 yrs. old), his nails are even and have no bite/tear ridges, and his toes don't grow either, and he's not flexible enough to get to all his toes. I've asked him if he bites or picks at them and he says no. So def. no biting, they simply don't grow. It's weird.
