biaxin

723952 tn?1231857532 I just accepted an Operations Management position at a Finance company and I have a feeling it is going to be a tad stressful. While I thrive in fast paced environments I am also concerned about my health!
1094370 tn?1317134825 Thanks. I'm not on doxy....I'm taking Biaxin (1 pill 2x per day) and Amoxicillian (2 pills 2x per day). Where I messed up was I thought I should only be taking 1 pill of each 2x per day so I've been giving the lyme a break by two pills a day of amoxicillian. Not anymore....die lyme....die!!!!
Avatar f tn i took half an inderal 40 mg and h rate started to go down gradually. what do y think happened? could it have been a side effect from the pill? now i am fine though. should i go to a cardiologist?i am 33 fem, have underactive thyroid and had heart echo last year. i hve mild mvp with mild mitral insuffiency. a heart rate of 140 indicates anxiety or something else ?
Avatar m tn I agree with Vance2335, you should consult your doctor on this question. Your concern is reasonable. Biaxin is an antibiotic use to threat bacterial infections. And, yes syphilis is a bacterial infection. However, whether the medicine will affect Syphilis test result will depend on the medicine, when the medicine was taken. You should check with your doctor or alternatively, you can post your question to the STDs Expert Forum, which runs by Dr. Handsfield and Dr. Hook.
Avatar m tn Regarding your second question, STIs often do clear themselves over time HOWEVER, before that happens, infected persons can transmit infection to others or have complications of infection. Thus when a person is treated, it is best to treat the infection rather than try to wait it out.
1094370 tn?1317134825 My doc told me that plaquenil makes the body more alkaline, making the Biaxin up to 40% more effective at penetrating cell walls (it is an intracellular abx). The plaquenil enables a lower dose of Biaxin.
Avatar n tn Hi, antibiotics, such as amoxicillin for 2 weeks, have been the recommended first-line treatment of uncomplicated acute sinusitis. Amoxicillin-clavulanate (Augmentin) is also an appropriate first-line treatment of uncomplicated acute sinusitis. Other options include cephalosporins such as cefpodoxime proxetil (Vantin) and cefuroxime (Ceftin). In patients allergic to beta-lactams, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim), clarithromycin (Biaxin), and azithromycin.
Avatar f tn I still have raised blood pressure today , I guess the prednisone also raises the blood pressure. Do you thinj it is a good idea to take both items, or should I only take the prednisone. I had skin testing last week and had no increased allergies, I think I have frontal sinus inflammation and congestion .
Avatar f tn m on biaxin, but not sure how much it ordinarly costs since my insurance pays most of it.
Avatar f tn BUT he gave me a different antibiotic for the sinus infection called Biaxin, for acute sinusitis, which has been working wonders after one day on it. But I just read that Biaxin is given to HIV/AIDS patients for Mycobacterium avium complex!!!! Is it possible that he did an HIV test without my knowledge and is now trying to treat me for it???? Im scared and don't want to call and find out because he might think I'm nuts, or say no. But does this happen?
Avatar m tn So the direct answer is yes, this could possibly be what you have. But it is very unlikely. By far the most likely explanation is a virus or other infection. Clarithromycin (Biaxin®) is not reliable against gonorrhea, although the fairly large dose you were given might be effective. If you promptly discuss your gonorrhea concern with the doctor's office -- i.e. before you have taken the antibiotic more than a day or two -- a culture test could be done.
Avatar m tn But that being said, a resting heart rate of 90 is considered to be within the normal range and anxiety can definitely drive it up. Try to stop checking your pulse, that can make mine go up for sure. I did the same thing after taking an antihistamine and got all upset and mine went up to 120. As soon as I forced myself to relax and quit checking it slowly went back to normal.
1464587 tn?1307491605 I would suggest you press you doc to focus on your yeast status and deal with it. The first step is to test you for what fungal infection you may have. If your current doc blows you off, I'd find another doc, perhaps an immunologist, but maybe better is an openminded internist or GP, since specialists seem to get lost in the weeds to often. That's what I would do first: see another doc about the fungal infection.
Avatar n tn May I also ask what length of time would I take the Biaxin? And is there any home treatment, Like garlic pills etc. that would help augment healing? ( since Biaxin is not considered the best treatment.) Although I'm stuck with that. And frankly, I was on the Clindamycin for weeks and that didn't get rid of the infection, so maybe a broad spectrum antibiotic will work for me. I sure hope so. thank you again for your advice.
4939681 tn?1361299299 I started taking Biaxin 2 days ago for a horrible throat infection. Since then my muscles have been weak and crampy (especially my calves with restless leg syndrome as well). I also am having horrible stomach cramps and nausea and I get an overwhelming metallic taste in my mouth (almost like bile actually). And the insomnia last night was unbearable. I haven't had insomnia in over a year. Has anyone else experienced this with Biaxin?
Avatar n tn I am 3 months pregnant and am prone to sinus infections and it seems the only antibiotic that works for me is biaxin. I have a sinus infection now, is it safe to take biaxin 2 pills together for ten days?
Avatar f tn A feeling of sadness has taken over my body the past 5 days and it is miserable. Can somebody tell me why?? I stopped taking it today because I have had enough, I want my life back.
Avatar f tn i experience a lot of upper body aches especially in shoulders and under and around arms also many headdaches and tightness in head along with frequent bowel movements and nausea.and last but not least , my pallets taste like the medication and no matter how much water i drink " it doesn't seem to go away making my desire to eat , non-exesitant..i actually have to force myself to eat .
Avatar f tn I want to quit the doxy but im told to just ride it out. I am wondering what exactly Doxy helps with? I kno biaxin helps with Bartonella for example. But what does Doxy do exactly for someone with late stage chronic lyme?
Avatar m tn Does this sound like a chancre? Do I need to be concerned about syphilis given the antibiotics I have taken and the very low risk nature of the potential exposure?
Avatar f tn I have a question about antibiotics. Since 2001, I have what I thought was an allergy to Cipro. Took it for an upper respitory infection for 3 days and had terrible problems. The Dr then gave me Levaquin, took for 7 days, with the same side effects. Just this past winter, I had a UTI that wouldn't go away and was treated with Biaxin and another abx (I can't remember which one, I have to look...maybe Ceftin) and had a bad reaction to both of them.
Avatar n tn The infections you would be most likely to get from receipt of oral sex are either gonorrhea or non-chlamydial NGU (chlamydia is very rare in the throat). Biaxin has not been well studied for STDs but is related to azithromycin and likely would cure both chlamydia (which is unlikely to be there) and NGU. It's activity against gonorrhea is questionable. As for the amoxicillin, it would not do much.
Avatar n tn Yes, that's the main reason. And it isn't just that cunnilingus is low risk. My reply is also based on your symptoms, which simply are not possibly due to any STD. Plus the fact that the antibiotics would have cured anything even if I were wrong about the low risk. Here is another MedHelp thread that explains the biology of STD/HIV transmission. Start reading with the follow-up comment December 14: http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/1119533 That should end this thread.
4451049 tn?1387153437 I was seriously afraid I was heading for a wheelchair! Not sure if it was just a phase, or what. But it is not much of an issue anymore, so I think I may be improving in some regard. I am just not real sure. The problem is, that I don't know that I have been on the same antibiotic for an entire 3 months straight. My illness was extremely slowly progressive, so it went unnoticed until the immunosuppressants made it undeniable.
