BUT he gave me a different antibiotic for the sinus infection called Biaxin, for acute sinusitis, which has been working wonders after one day on it. But I just read that Biaxin is given to HIV/AIDS patients for Mycobacterium avium complex!!!! Is it possible that he did an HIV test without my knowledge and is now trying to treat me for it???? Im scared and don't want to call and find out because he might think I'm nuts, or say no. But does this happen?
patient is 19 yrs. old, diagnosed with chronic sinusitis which does not respond to any meds tried (currently on Zyrtec and Nasocort). Also is ANA+ 1:1280 which has not been diagnosed as anything as of yet. Also has celiac disease. Was in ER yesterday with chills, low grade fever (had for weeks), COUGH (had for weeks). Chest x-ray ok. Told to take Biaxin (2 500mg pills once a day for 3 weeks), along Prednisone Pack, and an inhaler

I decided to diagnose myself with chronic sinusitis. I have always had sinus problems so it made sense. My Dr. prescribed Biaxin. Still taking the Biaxin as we speak however symptoms haven't subsided. I have always feared a brian tumor bc my grandmother died from it at 35! I had a ct scan and nothing was found. They didnt use the dye though. Some can definitely go unnoticed! I woke up this morning with nausea and a terrible headache. Thats #1 symptom of tumor.
Almost 3 months ago I got bad sinusitis. I had headaches, yellow/green mucus, fatigue, and ear aches. I just let in linger for about 4 weeks, hoping it would go away on its own, but it didn't (contrary to what the media says these days). Finally I got put on Biaxin for two weeks, which helped, but didn't take care of the painful ear aches and headaches. I've been to two ENTs since then, and neither found any trace of ear infection or blocked eustachian tubes.
While on doxycycline 200mg daily, I experiment by cut down Plaquenil to half dosage. For three weeks, there is no change, then fourth week, my fingers goes crazy. I upped the dosage back, and one week later, fingers behaves.
While on rocephin IV and still taking plaquenil, for first few days, with herx, the trigger fingers came back then stops. My fingers still does not feel right and never did since trigger fingers started few years ago.
The question is lyme did this?
I was taking Biaxin 500mg twice a day for a week and then took the rpr two days later. could this affect the results in any way?
The doctor thought it was bronchitis and gave me biaxin to try and prevent pneumonia (I have an IgA deficiency and have had pneumonia 7 times and I'm 23, 4 cases in the past 3 years). Now it's almost a week later and the bronchitis is pretty much cleared up but I am STILL running a fever. Non-stop I have been running this low grade fever (99.5-101.4) for two and a half weeks. I have not gotten it to break at all (I've even tried ice packs).
I developed a fever twice and pain from the bridge between my nose and right on top of the nose. Worried, I went to the doctor and he said I had sinusitis. Minor swelling in the nasal cavity and something in my throat indicated this. There was no mucous, blood or any other type of fluid coming out of my nose.I was prescribed BIAXIN for a week. I also developed tinnitus within the first week. I could feel minor pressure on my ears starting to develop before the ringing started.
- HIV at 7 weeks, 15 weeks and 9 months
- STD test for Clymidia and gonnerea at about 8 months after (this was a urine test) I was concerned cause I peed about 1 hour before testing
Since these exposure I have been on Biaxin for 10 days at 500mg twice a day, Amoxicillian 500mg 3 times a day ( I have been on this twice as I have a saliva gland issue for a number of years. I was also on Cipro 500 twice a day (I think) for a sinus infection.
All test were negative.
My doc perscribed Biaxin xl 2x 500 and prednisone 50mg 4 days if needed. Last night I was so bad I took the pred at 8pm. This morning I took the biaxin at 6am.
It's been about 8 hours and my heart has sped up from about 70 to 85-90 for about an hour and won't come down.
I'm afraid to take my next dose of prednisone but I've been on short bursts before with no issue.
Is a resting heart rate around 90 something to be worried about?
she said I had sinusitis and bronchitis and put me on a Z-pak for 1 wk. Afterward, the sore throat was gone and the "bronchitis feeling" was gone, but I was still wheezing deep down in the my throat and coughing. Next tx was medrol dose pack. The wheezing disappeared for a couple of days, then returned. I then developed a metallic taste in my mouth when I cough. 1 wk ago, (May 22) I woke up with fever, chills, muscle aches, and killer sore throat.
ve been taking the medicine for at least 10 or 11 days at 1000 milgrams of each both biaxin and flagyl daily..and should have stop taking them along time ago ..is this common?
He gave me a prescription for biaxin, 2x a day for ten days. After doing some digging, I learned about oral gonorrhea. Could this possibly be what I have? And if so can it be cured by biaxin (antibiotic)?
I am a man. Next day, having been prescribed Biaxin for bronchitis, I took four 500 mg pills at once. I know this was foolish, but I had panicked.
5 days later I developed an infected ingrown hair at the base of my penis. I am over forty, and I believe I know an ingrown hair when I see one - when I take Biaxin I get them all over my legs.
Next day, the bump had not opened up into an ulcer. I saw a hair growing out of the middle of it, and squeezed the bump.
May I also ask what length of time would I take the Biaxin? And is there any home treatment, Like garlic pills etc. that would help augment healing? ( since Biaxin is not considered the best treatment.) Although I'm stuck with that. And frankly, I was on the Clindamycin for weeks and that didn't get rid of the infection, so maybe a broad spectrum antibiotic will work for me. I sure hope so. thank you again for your advice.
