I have read lots of your post concerning biaxin and azithromycin and whether they cure syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia and NGU. I have found that biaxin is chemically different than azithromycin but biologically same at killing bacteria as azithromycin. On some post you say that azithromycin or clarithromycin(biaxin) would cure all the bacterial stds then in others you state that there could be some problems. by H. Hunter Handsfield, M.D.

Hi I had a problem once with Biaxin, within an hour of taking it I would get a severe sharp pain in the region of my liver. I tried taking half and an hour later the severe pain again. I had my antibiotic changed. Most say the liver does not experience pain, however it can swell and cause pain on the capsule that surrounds it.

I was taking Biaxin 500mg twice a day for a week and then took the rpr two days later. could this affect the results in any way?

I was on plaquenil and biaxin for Lyme Disease for almost 4 weeks and just stopped taking them because I think it may have caused an allergic reaction. Last week I noticed some weird red spots on my buttocks on just one side. They looked like raised hives, but they weren't, they were flat and smooth. Penicillin works for me. The other stuff is not so good. If I was desperate and on S/O I'd take penicillin. I'd try going without anything at first and using a good mouth rinse maybe a sea salt rinse like in the old days. When a month passes you will be in a new phase of treatment. You'll feel it. Then you can decide.

I had 2 women perform oral sex on me and about 2-3 months later I had a chest cold and my doctor gave me biaxin 2x500mg a day for 10 days. then a few months later had amoxicillian 3x500mg a day for 10 days for another unrelated infection (my docs loves to give antibiotics) If I did get a std like gonnerea or clymidia or anything else that is bacterial would the biaxin get rid of it?...keep in mind I have had no unprotested sexual intercourse just received oral from a women.

they are cyst-busters. I was on biaxin for that purpose (along with another med to kill the bugs after they came out of the cyst), but had a reaction to it after several months; so the dr switched me to flagyl and a different antibiotic. It's a fair question why the dr would give you two cyst busters. Sounds like a lot. Good luck with the new job!! Sounds like a good one.

the doctor and I decided that I should try a differnt antibiotic so we switched to the Generic form of Biaxin.... Clarithromycin...... I was on it for 2 months and dropped 18 pounds and 3/4 of my hair..... we pulled out what was in the shower drain alone and you could of made a wig out of it pretty much...... the only other symptoms I had while on this medicine apart from the hair loss is that my hands would swell and night......I had excessive bruising all over.....

My testing for lyme is still coming up positive and there were more positive bands and stronger ones than my last test three months ago. He said that the meds I'm currently are on do not treat lyme. After this course of meds, I am switching to Amox & Biaxin to begin treating the lyme. My CD57 shot up from like 20 to 87 though! That is the highest it's been in a long time so that is good news! The last few days, I seem to be feeling a bit better.

What are the contraindications of taking penicillin and valacyclovir during the same cycle ? Can they both be taken on the same day ?

Last week I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and am taking Amoxicillin, Biaxin and Prevacid. I am one week into treatment and feel only marginally better. My question is about stomach tenderness. Is a tender stomach normal with a peptic ulcer? My entire stomach area, from just below my breasts, down to my navel, is very tender to the touch. When touched it produces like a burning/stinging/bruised feeling. Depending on the day, or time of the day, the pain is greater or less.

I got a yeast infection and I have had one before due to antibiotics so I knew what it was. On Saturday the doctor prescribed me biaxin, a different antibiotic, and one dose of fluconazole 150mg. I am still taking the antibiotic for another week. My question is since it is monday and the redness and swelling has gone down, but not the discharge will the yeast infection go away even if I'm still on antibiotics?

Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.

My LLMD is changing my antibiotic treatment to Omnicef and Biaxin for 3 more months. My amoxicillin capsules are made out of yellow food dye. My pharmasit told me that I open the capsule and take just the powder. The problem is the strong taste of the powder makes me gag.what can I do ?

Hi All, Iam having a terrible toothache the dentist said it is my wisdom tooth growing below my other tooth.She prescribed penicillin due to infections and I have a fever. I am scared to take it thinking that it may affect my babies. I am pregnant with twins.My first pregnancy ended in m/c at 5 1/2/ months.She said its ok for pregnant women to take.I am still taking my progestorones. Not sure where the rest of post is. Day 2 - 500mg Clarithromycin & Amox 875mg that night. This morning took 500mg of both Clarithromycin & Amox, and Ceftiaxone 1gm IV. I am aware of CDC guidelines and think that this single dose of rocephin & a total of 5gm of Biaxin over 4-5 days (in place of Azithromycin) should be effective? How long should I wait to engage in intercourse with my significant other?

I have been on Penicillin VK for a few days due to some upcoming dental work. I know that gonhorrea and ngu are the only real (albeit very small) risks, and typically your advice to people is that if they haven't had any symptoms of discharge etc. that you do not recommend testing. Does my Penicillin VK change that advice? I have a "normal" sex partner that I want to keep safe.

Thanks for the answer...just one last point, the biaxin and amoxicilian were taken at different times around 2-3 months apart. Biaxin was for a Resp infection and the amoxicilian was for my saliva gland issue. These all have been taken throughtout the last year since exposure. Would Biaxin or amoxicial cure syphlis by themselves?. no more questions from me so I would like to thank you for your time!.

I did the same thing after taking an antihistamine and got all upset and mine went up to 120. As soon as I forced myself to relax and quit checking it slowly went back to normal.
