For example, when a person goes on a low carbohydrate diet they will lose weight very quickly, there will be fat loss and water loss. If you look at the word carbohydrate...the word hydrate is attached to the word. So our scale weights are intimately tied to our carbohydrate consumption. When someone loses 7 lbs in 7 days, it is physiologically impossible for that to be all fat. So how much of that is water, fat, muscle etc..

Loss of appetite can again be due to certain medications, drug abuse, depression, AIDS, acute and chronic infections, cancers and hypothyroidism. Either you do not eat well or there is increased metabolism as in hyperthyroid states, HIV, cancer etc.
Would any of these diseases contribute to sudden weight loss? I have been close/over 350 lbs for years, but in the last several months I have dropped a significant amount of weight. I'm down to 287. (20 lbs in the last four weeks alone.) I wish I could say it's because I'm exercising or eating right... but I'm not. I've made no change to physical activity or diet. Any suggestions?
I agree, but I wanted a second opinion. She does say it hurt and she only has 5 pounds left, but I really worried it would do long term damage.
This is not healthy either physically nor mentally. Topamax is not a miracle weight loss drug, and you should not be considering it merely because you have heard of this side effect. Your main concern should be getting the headaches/ADD or other disorder under control and then work on the secondary issues - i.e. weight control.
Many physicians are not comfortable prescribing multiple weight loss medications at the same time out of concern for increased risk of side effects. Also keep in mind that phentermine is not generally recommended in the long term. It may make more sense to just stick with one of the weight loss medications to see if there are any beneficial effects. It's also a good time to think carefully about how the weight loss occurred while on the new medication.

I can see that you are very frustrated – for good reason. Did you know that exercising is not necessarily the best way to loose weight or keep it off? You are doing what so many people have done and most have had the same sad result – no weight loss. Sometimes, they have even gained more weight. Please know that exercise is not the main contributor to weight loss.

So pretty much my entire life I have suffered from depression. No motivation, never tried to really do anything with my life and even when I did, it never lasted for more then a week until that motivation randomly vanished. I rarely have energy, and when I do, I never feel alive. I am 20 years old and now I have realized that if I don't do anything now, I'm just going to end up being a waist of space.
Throughout my childhood and my teen years school had never been a problem for me.
Same with weight loss, some folks eat when anxious or depressed and when they feel better, that compulsion is less and they lose weight. This is part of the weight loss and weight gain that you see with antidepressants. And why any same antidepressant can cause a different weight reaction (gain, loss or neutral) in different people who take it. However, there are also people that do not change their eating patterns at all that gain weight and it can only be assumed it is from the drug.
