Benzaclin or duac

Common Questions and Answers about Benzaclin or duac

benzaclin

Avatar m tn Hi, I'm a 21 year old male. Ive been using Duac Once Daily (Benzoyl Peroxide 5%, Clindamycin 1%) for years however these are the things I'm unsure about: 1. Does it need to be stored in the fridge even after opening it? I always thought the pharmacy has to store it in a fridge and then after it's opened it can just be stored in any temperature below 25 degrees C so can be in a cupboard. 2. Should it be washed off in the morning?
Avatar n tn Hi, Acne develops as a result of blockages in follicles. Hyperkeratinization and formation of a plug of keratin and sebum (a microcomedo) is the earliest change. The microcomedo may enlarge to form an open comedo (blackhead) or closed comedo (whitehead). In these conditions the naturally occurring largely commensual bacteria Propionibacterium acnes can cause inflammation.
Avatar f tn I haverecently gone to my primary physician and dermatologist and they tell me it is acne and prescribed benzaclin/ Atralin and sumaxin. Benzaclin seemed to work at first, but now it seems to make my breakouts worse. The other two prescriptions just dont seem to work at all. What could this be?Herpes? I do have herpes, but my doctor tells me it should only be on the lip (I have it next to the lip) it's not noticeable at all.
Avatar f tn Hi I borrowed some duac from my son and put it ona spot under my eye two nights ago. The skin under my eye is now itchy red and swollen. Could anyone please tell me can Duac cause this type of reaction and what can i do to bring the swelling down.
Avatar f tn hello im a 31 year old female and ive suffered from acne since a teenager but only really flares up during my periods once a month thing is ive been left with very small scars like a few on my cheeks and on my chin not at all severe or deep what would be my best treatment? i want to go for dermabrasion but im not sure if it will heal in time for college ? please help thank ? p.
1094941 tn?1264559085 Pat it dry and do not rub it. Avoid picking or pressing the acne. You can also use Benzoyl peroxide 5% lotion or gel once at bedtime. An amount of lotion the size of a pea should be enough to cover most of your face. If your skin becomes red or peels, you are using too much of the medicine or applying it too often. If the symptoms persist then topical and oral antibiotics may be needed. My advice would be to consult a dermatologist. Hope it helps.
Avatar m tn You're skin is very similar to mine. If you have sensitive skin, you need to use products that are meant for sensitive skin above all others. Don't layer multiple products meant for treating acneic skin, which will make matters worse for sensitive skin. Multiple acneic treatments that strip your skin's natural oils will leave dead skin cells on the surface and lead to more clogged pores.
Avatar n tn s nothing really to pop. It usually goes away within the week. I also have been using Benzaclin for the past few months. I try to use it only when i have a pimple coming on. I know it can make my skin very sensative. I've never had a cold sore, but could this be one?? I dont feel any tingling or the other symptoms I've read about concerning cold sores.
Avatar n tn I wouldn't use Shea Butter on acne or blackheads as this may make them worse. A cream which contains benzoyl peroxide is good, but one from your doctor such as Duac gel may be more effective than store bought creams, as Duac also contains a topical antibiotic called Clindamycin.
Avatar m tn 1. When applying Duac once daily gel I wash my hands with hand wash and then just wash my face with water before applying the gel, what cleansing routine should I be using to improve my acne? Should I be using some sort of soap when washing my face? 2.
Avatar n tn By the way there was no itch to these spots and only inflammation. Anyway this time the doctor gave me Duac Gel which I used for 2.5 weeks and after 3-4 days of use I started getting these new spots on my upper arms (as well as having the old ones) which sometimes were itchy but no inflammation. These spots are more permanent and although they have reduced in numbers but I still have some on my arms (I don’t use body groomer on my arms). Sometimes I get them on my forehead as well.
Avatar n tn A few years ago I had a horrible case of acne and was put on the Doryx pill for 3 weeks, wash with Brevoxyl 2x day, morning Tazorac topical and evening Duac topical. This combination cleared up all of my acne and dark spots in a month !!! So after two months I weened myself off of the topicals. Everything was fine. About 2 years later, I had another bad breakout. I have really oily skin, lots of white and blackheads and acne scarring (dark spots) resulted from these pimples.
Avatar f tn I have it too but have always had out breaks every so often but cant take what I use to to control it. The doctor should be able to give u some cream, duac, otherwise start cleansing and using a spot fighting toner. My brother swears by sudo cream!! I have started using that yesterday.
Avatar f tn I recently went to the doctor and have been advised that I have a blockage of sweat ducts on my forehead (which appears as flesh coloured tiny bumps and is not red or itchy). However, I have noticed that it seems to be spreading to my cheeks, with additional tiny whitehead looking bumps popping up (also tiny and mainly around my chin and mouth area). The doctor also told me this was 'milia'. One thing that confuses me is that I am unsure if this is acne, or a rash or both.
Avatar n tn Also i have a prescription face medication cream called BenzaClin which is 1% clindamycin and 5% Benzoyl peroxide. Also, i am away at college far from my house so could it be my face isnt use to the water here? Im not sure what else it could be. Does anyone have any ideas of what i can do to help??? Can someone tell me what has helped them get rid of annoying and stubborn pimmples? Pleasee helpppp.. thanks!
1132555 tn?1278078501 I was using acne medicines that are Category C for about the first 3 weeks of my pregnancy, until my doctor told me to stop taking them. I was using Duac daily and Bactrim. Could these have caused birth defects that quickly?
Avatar n tn I used Duac Cs gel and Tretinoin cream on my face for 5 days and I think I either had and allergic reaction to it or it left me with a chemical burn. Is silvadene good to use on my face to take care of the burn marks?
Avatar m tn Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. You can treat it with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium. If the symptoms persist, then it would be best to get it confirmed from a dermatologist.
Avatar m tn One doctor prescribed Benzaclin and another doctor referred me to a dermatologist. After scheduling an appointment with a dermatologist and waiting over three months I ended up seeing a PAC and not an actual dermatologist (if that matters). Unfortunately I lost the notes I had from the visit but she said I had Sebaceous something or the other. She said there wasn't really anything I could do to clear it up. She gave me a Tretinoin prescription for acne in general.
Avatar m tn They are all stumped and confused, but my current dermatologist believes that my acne may be contributing to this constant skin outbreak, and is treating my acne with Duac, Defferin, and Minocycline each once a day. He believes that if my acne problem gets managed, it will leave room for this unknown skin infection/inflammation to heal. Doesn't seem to be helping so far unfortunately.
Avatar f tn i have extremely oily skin and i think its because i use my acne medications such as differin and duac but even though i wash my face 3 times a daii it is still oily and its worse during parties because i cant wash my face then..? wat should i doo..any herbal remedies as well?
Avatar m tn I am currently taking benzaclin and erythromycin gel at night and Evoclin foam in the day. I also tweeze and wax the hairs. I was wondering if tretinoin cream would help prevent ingrown hairs due to increased epithelial cell turnover? I know laser treatment would be most beneficial but cannot afford it at the moment. What can I do in the meantime to help prevent ingrown hair and pimples in the hair follicle?
Avatar n tn I really did not have acne problems before this began. I have been using duac gel and it reallt has not gotten much better. I have been told that laser treatment would be a great choice. What is the average price range for the laser removal of ingrown hairs? This discussion is related to Infected facial hair follicles (in-grown hairs).
Avatar n tn Your rash could be the result of irritation, dermatitis (atopic, contact, allergic), heat rash, excessive sweating, folliculitis or some medical condition like SLE. I think that you need to observe this for some time to see if the bumps decrease or increase in intensity. Is there also any accompanying symptom such as pain, swelling, itching or any rashes/swelling in other parts of the body?
Avatar n tn Alternative treatments include topical retinoids such as Differin, topical antibiotics such as Duac, or oral tetracyclines such as Oxytetracycline. Discuss these with your doctor. You don't state your gender, but female acne patients will benefit from taking an anti-androgen contraceptive pill such as Yasmin or Diane35. Eloise.
Avatar f tn I am a relatively healthy 25 year old female. I have had acne since I was maybe 12 or 13. Extremely sensitive skin- adverse reactions to salicylic acid and anything higher than a 2% benzoyl peroxide. Have tried differin, retin-a, duac, also natural solutions such as tea tree oil, lemon, honey, coconut, eggs, yogurt, witch hazel. Also have tried systems such as proactiv and muriad to no avail.
