benicar

Avatar f tn Tell your doctor of your side effects, he will switch you to another BP med.
1260320 tn?1270394906 My 90 day average BP is 108/67 down from 135/85 when I started. I have had no side effects as well, the best of both worlds!
Avatar f tn Our daughter in law informed her doctor that she knows other people who have had the same side effects and were switched and that she also read about the side effects on the net. Doc still refuses to switch her. There are over 100 different BP meds on the market. My husband was switched 4 times before they found the right BP med for him with no or very little side effects, but this doctor wont switch our daughter in law to another BP med. We urged our daughter in law to get another doctor.
Avatar n tn My blood pressure has been low, in the range of 90/60 since the surgery but the cardiologist wants me to continue the Benicar. He said it's "good for the heart". Has anyone ever heard of this before? My understanding was that Benicar is for high BP. Also, I have been feeling very down and blue a lot of the time. What could be causing this other than the fact that I just (3 weeks ago) had open heart surgery.
Avatar m tn My question - Is this really the medicine side effects ? which drug could be better to not affect my running performance? Am I really with high blood pressure, because I've read some people saying that for people who are very active, it's common to have low pulse rate and relatively high systolic pressure?
Avatar n tn from the package insert occasionally in the medication container) there are cardiac side effects. Your dose is a low one but the PVCs (if it is PVCs) need to be checked out by a physician. Maybe he could try another med and see if they go away! Keep us posted.
Avatar f tn He got a stomach flu the following week, his BP went way up again (170/100) and he went to the doctor. the doctor gave him bystolic to try.. to see if the side effects would be any more manageable for him. he has been on it for 3 days now and his BP has changed from 170/100 to 155/110 to 150/117 today... so the top # is going down, but the bottom # is going up... and I'm worried.
Avatar f tn My LDL is 223 and before 222. when taking toprol XL 50-75 mg. My cholesterol is 177 when I am not on antihypertensive drugs. Is there any documentation that proves Toprol XL can elevate cholesteral levels. Thank you, Sandra Smigielski R.N. This discussion is related to Toprol XL and Benicar side effects.
Avatar m tn Simvastatin 20 mg is a cholesterol lowering medication and has lots of side effects. There have been a lot of reported ill health due to taking this drug and there was television programme about the use of statins on the UK TV last year where it made people very ill. Can you remember the time she started taking any new medications that may have caused her problems? It may be that the statin is the cause of her symptoms.
Avatar f tn I believe I used this function years ago and got a list of doctors. My doctor who I have now uses Benicar, however does not follow all aspects of the protocol. She says the Benicar helps the antibiotics work better which I guess is the theory behind the Marshall Protocol. You can also try to google "marshall protocol doctors" and see what comes up.
Avatar m tn You can look up side effects of any medication on the Internet. Or talk to a pharmacist, they would also be able to tell you if those drugs would possibly give you excess sweating.
Avatar m tn I asked the Pharmacist first and he outlined all the possible side effects. Armed with this information, I went back to my doctor and asked to go back to the Benicar. He did not necessarily like being backed into a corner, but let's face it, he's there to take care of me and the Benicar always worked over the past several years.
Avatar m tn I am on Benicar HCT 40/20 mg as well, it is a great drug and has almost no side effects. You make it sound like you may be having some anxiety attacks as a result of your experience. One of the things you get with anxiety attacks is a release of adrenaline which can cause flushing on the face, back and upper torso, it's very common and most likely causing your issue. Try to stay calm and mention the anxiety to your doctor as they can treat that with meds as well.
478554 tn?1208034407 I did consult with an Ayurvedic Doctor, who prescribed some compounds, non toxic, no side effects. They usually go to the root cause, and will prescribe more than one compound since all systems are involved or most. Mine did prescribe some, but I can't remember which ones. It worked, but I became allergic and stopped. Meanwhile, I am seeing a Medical Qi Gong practitioner, lost 25 lbs in two months, and keep loosing water. I am no longer puffy and water logged.
Avatar m tn Hey, no, your penile arteries are not damaged from hypertension or smoking. It may of course happen (at age 50+), but if it did, you would have lots of other symptoms as well, such as leg pain when walking, chest pain during exercise, etc. Narrowing of arteries affect all arteries, not just the penile artery. This is good, because a simple test may make you rule this out. A carotid ultrasound.
Avatar f tn There are several options that you can try. I would ask my doctor first about an angiotensin II receptor blockers( ARB) like Benicar. Angiotensin is a chemical the causes the muscular part of your artery structure to constrict which causes the arteries to narrow and increase your BP. ARB's block the ability of angiotensin to cause muscle to constrict and keeps your arteries flexible and allows them to absorb the pressure of each beat.
Avatar n tn I have read about a new BP med with less side effects but my doc, who insists he will change my meds if that is what I want, still manages to say its not the BP med in his next breath...
Avatar m tn I am going to be asking my doctor that same question!! I never had anxiety until I started taking Benicar and I am only on 10 mg 1x per day.
Avatar n tn Dear Doctor, I am a healthy 36 year old male. In the last year I was put on Benicar 20 mg for high blood pressure. In that year I have began to notice PVC's that started occassionally and now are happening everyday all day. They drive me crazy. My blood pressure is under control and I exercise regularly. Could the Benicar cause the PVC's? I have had them checked out with my doctor and they tell me that they are okay and that they are PVC's. They drive insane.
Avatar m tn I'm 24 years old, male, was very healthy a year ago. I graduated college, moved to a new town, and got a great job. I've slowly debilitated starting around October of last year. At first, I would just notice that I was getting weak and light-headed every now and then. A few months later, at my job, I noticed I couldn't do as much when climbing stairs or working in hot situations long periods of time.
Avatar n tn m going to ask her doctor to replace the Benicar with something else and see if her condition improves. No one from her primary care physician, surgeon or cardiologist seem very concerned with her vomiting so much.
Avatar n tn I'm on Toprol XL, Cardizem, Benicar along with Lasix for HTN. I have a BUN of 32 (up from 24 a month ago) with a creatinine of 1.2. Can it be medication related? I am not overweight nor do I overuse salt, but am concerned about kidney failture.
