They perscribed a single dose of 500mg Cipro and 4 250mg (1000mg) of Azithromycin (I could be spelling that wrong). I took the Cipro yesterday around 5pm and the Azithromycin around 2am and I haven't noticed any improvement. If anything, I've noticed an INCREASE in discharge and pain when I urinate. They sent samples off to the lab but it won't be back for a few days.
From what I've been reading, most people notice an improvement in symptoms in about 24 hours.
I am Male 42, from Pakistan I had unprotected sex vaginal and slight anal penetration once (big mistake ) with a sex worker on 27 Sept 13, on 29 Sept I felt severe itching in my groins and irritation in anus. The episode was severe, but cleared up quickly following a one time oral dose of either Cipro or Azithromycin. I recently had a second episode of dysuria after unprotected oral sex. I again took Azithromycin (2 GM), and Cipro (500 mg).

But your drugs given are the first line agents often used with doxy a substitute for azithromycin. The reason I asked about Cipro is because it is used for other things your doctor may have suspected to actually be causing your continuing symptoms. However, if you are still testing positive for gono, you've got a resistant strain and the doctor will likely prescribe the same antibiotics for longer or different ones.
Will the azithromycin clear up NGU other than Chlamydia?
I still have pain in my right kidney that I usually have with chronic UTI. I am taking Cipro now for E. facelis but infection will not go away. It is too the point I don't want to have intercourse with my husband. Also did two months of oral macrobid and clarithomycin both I and my husband. Don't know what to do please advise. Chronic UTI have been present since four days into our marriage, always after intercourse times eleven years. I am allergic to sulfa and pcn.
Would a 10 day treatment w/ Cipro (500mg, twice a day) before positive test results came back for Chlamydia infection cause 7 days of Doxy and 1g of Azithromycin to be ineffective? I read that Cipro will not treat Clamydia and then read a study that said it can slow down the growth of it and cause it to be persistant.
Also, when I as being examined by the second doctor he noted that one side of my lypnodes in my groin was enlarged, he did not seem too concerned, just noted it.

I have had a cold for over a week now. I took one cipro 500 pill and then decided I needed to see my doctor. I took that at 5PM. My doctor prescribed prednisone and azithromycin. I have checked and seen that there are interactions in taking these drugs together. How long until the cipro 500 is out of my system so I can begin the other antibiotics and prednizone? Thank you.
Gave me levofloxacin, doxycycline and Azithromycin. 7 days levo, 10 days doxy, 2 single dose Azithromycin . 1 week after treatment Ended symptoms came back suddenly. (1 month after risk event).
just received culture for uretha swab indicates AB resistant mycoplasma to all antibiotics (AB) except for one doctor has never heard of (myocline? )
He then gave me Cipro 500g 2x a day which is just barely keeping symptoms under control. Still peeing a lot and mild uretha pain.
Through all my own research, I have never heard of avelox. Azithromycin or doxycycline are best for chlamydia. Suprax or cipro(?) for gonnorhea.

I was put on 1g azithromycin and rocephin injection the first visit out of precaution. No antibiotics the second visit.
After a week or two, I saw my PCP for a second time (went once and he said it was probably a virus where it didn't react to antibiotics-- and to watch for sores (yikes, HERPES?!)
