Wondering if Avonex can cause itchiness & rashes throughout body after a few mos. of using. Was on it for 1 1/2 yrs., stopped for 8 mos. & resumed. Started getting some rashes & itchiness throughout body. Thank you !

I have to change my medication and I'm not sure what medicine I should go on. I'm left with 4choices Rebif, Betaseron, Tecfidera, and tysabri.

Hi I am new to MS. My doctor prescribed Avonex. I have little to no drug insurance. I went to a site which offered discount coupons. I called them to ask them if this is a come on price or is this within reason the price every month. They would not give me an ansewr. Does someone here have any experience with this?

DX on 2/14...started Avonex last week with nurse helping and did fine. This week I thought I did okay but noticed the plunger did not go completely down. It was the 1/2 dose. Since I am inclined to over analyze, trying not to panic. Figure I'll be taking more next week...but since you all seem like you know your stuff...thought I'd ask the experts. Thanks.

I told my neuro, and he said it was probably because I shot the medicine in my blood stream by accident. I shoot my medicine now at a 45 degree angle instead of straight in, and I'm doing better.

As I wrote before, I did fairly well with my first Avonex injection on Monday, had some side effects, took it easy on Tuesday, then felt well enough to run some errands on Wednesday. However, by Wed. night, my thigh kind of burned like I'd worked out real hard, and my radicular pain started acting up in the other leg, then proceeded to wrap around the top of my thigh like it's done in the past.

So now I am asking for a 3rd opinion, I was told to stop the avonex shots and now i feel as bad as I did before the injections, when I was on the injections I felt great. What could this brain lesions be?

Hi guys, has anyone not heard from the AVONEX people once they were put on it.??? I have heard from heath nurses, and today, got my WELCOME package, but still no product. I don't know what is going on, and of course the lady or the rep from Avonex is away on holidays till the 2nd. of Dec..... so, I guess we will do it next week ... Just to let you guys know, they stopped my antiobiotic IV today, and said that it was an MS attack. Wherever there are nerves, MS can strike.

If you are diagnosed with MS, you may need to consider using Avonex or some other disease modifying medicine long term. Your doctor should discuss this with you. I wish you the best and hope you'll share more of your story.

I have been on Avonex for 17 weeks now but I am still experencing new symptoms. Especially in the past month. My doctor had me cut my Avonex back to 1/2 about a month ago because of the side effects. I THOUGHT I had been taking half dose but found out from the pharmacist that I have actually been taking 3/4 dose. That was my fault for not understand where the half way mark is at. But at least my side effects are becoming less even on the 3/4 dose.

Had OCT exam and waiting on results of that - after blood work comes back we are probably going to adjust my spasticity medicine. This is my one truly aggravating symptom. Other than that I can deal with the rest but it really affects my walking. Staying on Avonex until after MRI's in February - if they are doing the job no reason to change. Long day but a good result so far.

It stuck the needle in but the medicine didnt go in and the yellow button doesn't show (meaning the medicine didn't inject.) I called Biojen but they are closed. I followed the instructions after ... now what?! I have two shots in my fridge. Will they instruct me to skip this week or take the shot tomorrow? Ugh. I take Avonex.

For those that take Avonex, how bad have the flu like symptoms been for you? I had been on Copaxone and just recently stopped because I have had it with the huge welts and lumps the size of eggs. I am tempted to just take a see how it goes attitude since my MS seems to be mild and not do the DMD's for the time being. My neuro brought up Avonex and told me about the flu like symptoms and I don't know if that or the welts and lumps are worse?

I have been having a bad allergic reaction to the Avonex, they think. But there is no one to tell except the Avonex nurse. The MS clinic has a nurse temp. in because the 4th nurse left Feb 10. There has been 5 nurses and changes to the system. Had my psychriast appt. with them cancelled. I got a call from the MS Clinic, and was told that the Dr. had an emergency and meant that my March appt. is cancelled. Maybe they will be able to fit me in at the end of April .....

Hi anuj, I read ur question. I also diagnosed ms just few days ago, nd I also prescribed injection avonex. But I wish I could give u exact answer but I don't have any personally experience about avonex coz I don't start avonex yet but I know I will.Just m saying that i found on google that when ever u inject just relax, don't take any stress, u may get flu like symptom so take ibruphen, take rest how much u can, then of course, u can manage it.

But when first diagnosed with no medicine my relapse was an easy one for probably 3 months than straigh to pain and headaches than started AVENOX oct 1 and has a relapse the same day ( that was just ironic not the avenox) and that one put me down for about 7 to8 months(that was the big one. But the time period btw the two was only a month and a half with no meds/avenox..

Last night I had my first Avonex injection. I had a lot of hesitation about going on any drug, but figured I need to fight MS. The injection did not hurt at all. After the medicine was in it stung just a little bit. I woke up at 2:30 in the morning with the chills and by 5 I had the full flu like symptoms. By 3 in the afternoon, I felt pretty good except for a headach, but I've been having frequent headaches lately anyway.

Hi! I am sorry for all of you that are also suffering hair loss. As if we don't have enough to deal with! My family thought that I was making a big deal out of nothing until I washed my hair and ran my hands through and came away with a full hand of hair. We are not talking your usual hair loss here!
