97654 tn?1214348650 Hi, I was recently diagnosed with MS and had my first Avonex injection Friday. Friday night was tough (fever, chills, pain and eventually heavy sweating) but I felt pretty good by Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon I started feeling kind of down and by Sunday morning I feel even more so. I can't decide if this is a result of the drug or just the situation as a whole.
Avatar m tn My doctor offered me AVONEX for that and I used AVONEX for almost 1 year. But about 6 months back, I felt some slight disability on my left side. I cannot move my left leg properly after about 15 minutes walk now. I don't now it is again symptom for MS or not. Is there any body here to help me. I really appreciate any answer. BTW, I am right handed.
Avatar f tn Sorry, Ihave no experience with Avonex but I know a good many users are on the forum but with the holidays the responses may a little slow to come.
Avatar f tn re having a discussion on the MS forum about whether one can skip a dose of Avonex to avoid the major side effects during the holiday festivities. Some who take Avonex feel quite sick for a day or two. I'm lucky not to, but still this is a good question. Perhaps you could answer in terms of all 4 DMDs. Thank you.
1760800 tn?1406753451 Good news indeed! You may be the 1st user on our forum if you get it in July. It did get brought up, but I'm forgetting by whom!
Avatar n tn Have there been any studies published as to the possible long term effects of Avonex use? I am a 10 yr + user of Avonex and am becoming concerned. My healing time from minor cuts etc seems to be exceedingly long. I recently under went dental surgery and my dentist commented on my slow healing. I am at an age where major surgery occurs and fractures also some times and I am afraid that I would be debileated long term or worse if this was to occur. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I haven’t taken Avonex myself but I can pass on what others here have shared. I think the best way to do that is to send you on a short trip into the archives. That way, people who are familiar with Avonex can speak for themselves. This link will take you to a thread with a very similar discussion. TLC_31 is a long time Avonex user and shared his experience - and some very helpful tips. http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn t even remember the name of. Anyways, I started taking Avonex. This coming up week will be my 5th injection. I have suffered through the fever, the body aches, let me make that severe muscle pains, abdominal pains, and the list goes on. The one side effect that is really worrying me is the depression. I have never been so depressed in my life. In fact I have never been what I would call depressed. I've have some really hard times but I've always been able to push through.
195469 tn?1388322888 s known that some people on the Interferons, Avonex and Rebif have had no additional lesions, that have lasted years. That was my experience when I took Avonex. Since I now take Copaxone and have only been on it for a little over a year, I cannot give you a personal view of how well the drug is working for me. I am beginning to notice less relapses, though. How DMD's work is not fully understood.
288459 tn?1201291329 I was dx in January & started Avonex in February. Prior to this I have always been known as very easy going. I work in a highly stressful job, but have for 15 years and I have always rolled with the punches. After my dx & starting Avonex I noticed myself becoming a bit testy. Now 8 months later I believe I am no longer able to roll with those punches. So my 2 parted question would be, does this sound remotely familiar to anyone and any suggestions to controlling emotions?
Avatar f tn I just started on Avonex (had my 2nd injection a few days ago). I'm wondering if I will ever feel like I did prior to it. My side effects are not bad at all if I take Ibuprofen regularly. I stopped taking it b/c my stomach started hurting on & off everyday. Since I stopped it, my stomach doesn't hurt anymore, but I have headaches all the time. My head feels kind of spacey also. Will this go away? I am so new to all of this.
Avatar f tn This past Monday evening I did my Avonex shot as usual, took a preemptive Aleve and an Ambien, and went to bed. All routine. Woke Tuesday feeling very tired and out of sorts, but not a big deal. That sometimes happens with the shot. I curtailed my activities, but by afternoon I felt sick enough that I needed to be in bed. That evening I shivered for hours under warm blankets, and then started one of the sickest times of my entire life.
Avatar f tn m pretty sure that I have seen someone on this site ask about hair loss with Avonex, maybe they will see this and answer you.
1746440 tn?1311509508 Hi and welcome to our little corner of the web. If you haven't done so already, I highly recommend you have a read of our health pages, you'll find them at the top right of your screen, the yellow icon. They cover a wide range of MS information and well worth the time they take to read.
488198 tn?1493875092 An MSWorld user "zeldaz" lost her Avogrip, a plastic piece that clips to an Avonex syringe and makes it easier to handle. Apparently they are no longer available from Biogen. The draconian forum admins there deleted offers to send "zeldaz" a new, unopened one. If "zeldaz" sticks her nose in here, send me a PM.
1168718 tn?1464983535 I think Avonex, as the lone intermuscular option of the injectables, is less prone to cause lipoatrophy. I'm not sure of Australia's timeline (my assumption based on 'Victoria' as your location) for Tecfidera approval or how amenable you are to taking such a recently approved drug, but I do think that Gilenya (another oral) is approved there as well and might be something to look into if injections are causing concern.
649926 tn?1297657780 The Cleveland Clinic Doctor Wants to start me on Avonex in the next couple of weeks and follow me here in Cleveland from now on. She feels that all of my problems are either MS or various meds that the doctors have given me in the past. No Sjogren's etc. ? Wow I was on Copaxone and it didn't work but am willing to try anything if it will stop this progression. 3 neuro's in the last 5 months with 3 different opinions. Rituxan, IVIG & now Avonex.
Avatar f tn Sigh, I have a question from a friend. She would like to know if avonex causes calcium deficiency? She is diagnosed with ms. Not like me.
400099 tn?1282954864 Is anyone on avonex? My dr. wants to switch me to avonex, but with having lupus, I really don't want to go on an interferon. I'm on copaxone, now but because I have large welts on my arms he wants to switch me. I don't want to switch. Do I have the right to deny a new medication I feel would be detrimental to me?
Avatar f tn Flu-like symptoms are a fairly common side effect during the initial weeks of Avonex treatment. It is recommended that you take your Avonex injection before bedtime. Immediately before your injection, and for the 24 hours that follow the injection, patients have found that use of over the counter pain and fever reducing medications can help with this common side effect." You could also get on the Avonex website for further info. good luck. hope that you feel better soon.
