ve been taking Avodart for over a year. Should I stop taking Avodart and wait awhile before cataract surgery or will the informed Dr be able to work with my eyes? I've never taken Flomax and have heard the warnings from the commercial and read about Flomax. I'm concerned about any complications.
I'm also pretty active. Can I still swim after surgery and what are the chances of the lens shifting or coming loose?
I'm having the same problems on Flomax with the retro. I'm also scared about the loss of strength stated on some forums.
it says that Flomax relaxes the muscles of the prostate and bladder neck so it seems like it could improve blood flow to the prostate and help treat a prostate infection like I've had with shooting pains for months now.
If I remember correctly one of the drug companies just came out with a single pill that has both Flomax and Avodart in it. Just for your understanding, Flomax will give you relieve in just an hour or two so you can pee freely, but does not reduce the prostate size much(which is the the long term goal) where as Avodart slowly reduces the prostate size over months. Obviously, two two together will give you the best outcome.
3 different antibiotics constant pelvic pain, always bloated, shooting penile pain...Tried flomax, avodart, Had a cisto? They said they found nothing. My p.s.a. is .07.... I am at wits end... Your girl friend should not come in contact with Avodart capsules or even touch it due to risk of absorption from skin. You must avoid donating blood for 6 months after stopping the drug for the risk of exposure of pregnant women to Avodart through the donated blood.
It affects male genital development or causes external genital abnormalities in male fetus.
My question is really about my father; he is 78 years old in general good health. He takes 5 mg blood pressure med and he takes Flomax daily. When he first started taking Flomax; which he needs to be able to urinate or as he says to keep his plumbing working, anyway, he would have dizzy spells. His doctor said this was normal, a side effect of Flomax. But now lately he has been passing out; I think that is unusual for any medication and I'm worried there may be something else going on.
Propose that your partner try Avodart. I think it really helps with prostate enlargement. That is what the television commercials say anyhow.

AND women wanting to become pregnant should NEVER touch the pill as it can cause birth defects if they are exposed at all to it.

However, it is recommended that you take this medication exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor.
Even getting older an cause it, smoking, taking various medications (not just avodart), gaining weight, etc. Do you find you also have erectile dysfunction? Avodart, unfortunately, is associated with these side effects. It's unclear though how long they will last. What does your doctor say? What prompted starting the med? Your psa looks pretty good.
Sometimes it would be treated with antibiotics other times Flomax. Either way they all resolved easily after a week or so. fast forward to a month ago I had an external hemorrhoid develop and also had urgency and frequency. Doc said it was related to the hemorrhoid and gave me a cream. the issue resolved within a couple days. A month later I went to an urgent care prior to Christmas for the same issue and the doc said prostatitis after doing a DRE. Said it was firm but culture was clean.

Hi Dave, thanks for answering. I am not really sure if this is herpes. My urologist shattered most of my hopes with that "85% sure it's herpes" comment. He's a top specialist in his field and he has been right about other stuff before. He said that I might have caught HSV long time ago and this is a recurrence, but previous tests in 2015 and now 2016 say I I didn't have antibodies before. Have you had problems like this with these virus of hell?
He may not have been emptying his bladder even with the flomax and he may have developed further urinary retention. If he has taken any decongestants or antihistamines, they may have worked against the drug and, again, resulted in further emptying difficulties.
Call the urologist to discuss it. He probably will need to be seen.

Thanks for the quick reply Dr Veena. Another question for you: should I take Flomax BEFORE taking Cipro? I've heard taking Flomax and hour or 2 before will soften the prostate and allow the antibiotic to better penetrate the prostate? Does it matter if I take them in the morning or evening, or is the rule just be consistent?

I am suffering from BPH for the last 4 years and I am taking DUTASTERIDE (AVODART) and Alfuzosin .
Unfortunately , these meds do not help much since few months ago.
I also about a new procedure named: gat-goren (GG), that sounds as non-pervasive.
Did anyone hear about the GG procedure and can share experience or knowledge about that ?
Can flomax have impact on your sleeping behavior.
Flomax can reduce the amouht of seman that you produce. It would be unusual though to have this production reduced down to zero unless the man was ejaculating very often. In general terms Flomax is a useful medication with very few side-effects..
