Your girl friend should not come in contact with Avodart capsules or even touch it due to risk of absorption from skin. You must avoid donating blood for 6 months after stopping the drug for the risk of exposure of pregnant women to Avodart through the donated blood.

When I developed gynecomastia (which is minor and I ignore) I lowered the dose of AVODART to one twice a week which is 8/month (from 15/month). AVODART has a long half life. Will 8/month still work? I wrote to GLaxo who make Avodart and they said what you said "ask your physician". My physician is very busy and I don't want to waste his time. My next appointment is in June and I will ask at that time if I don't have an answer by then.
it has been 6 days since removal and i still have small traces of what appears to be skin and dryed blood in my urine.looks like small pieces of red thread in my urine. is this normal? I seen the doctor 4 days after removal and he said it was probably just from the catheter. it's been 6 days and still coming out now and then? if this is somewhat normal....how long should i expect to see this till my urine flows clean. I have no pain....
What is normal time to stay Avodart ? The doc give enough for 3 weeks but I would think I would need to stay on for longer than that. I have had no side effects as I know of and I believe it has helped. How long has others stayed on this ? Thanks for any help.
I'm 68 years old and have had Cataracts for over 2 years. I've been taking Avodart for over a year. Should I stop taking Avodart and wait awhile before cataract surgery or will the informed Dr be able to work with my eyes? I've never taken Flomax and have heard the warnings from the commercial and read about Flomax. I'm concerned about any complications.
I'm also pretty active. Can I still swim after surgery and what are the chances of the lens shifting or coming loose?
Even getting older an cause it, smoking, taking various medications (not just avodart), gaining weight, etc. Do you find you also have erectile dysfunction? I had a sexual encounter with 2 months ago and I took a igg blood test after 6 weeks. The test came back negative for type 1 and 2. Would I need to do another test at a later date to make sure my results are accurate? I spoke to the people that done my test and they said my results are accurate. Would I need to do another one?
I am suffering from BPH for the last 4 years and I am taking DUTASTERIDE (AVODART) and Alfuzosin .
Unfortunately , these meds do not help much since few months ago.

It depends on the test. Do you know if it is ELISA or Herpeselect?
I say this because there are certain medications meant for men, like Avodart for enlarged prostate, that women are told not to even handle. They say so on the commercials for this medication. If women are told not to even handle Avodart, which would mean that it can be absorbed through the skin, I would think you may be right about the possibility of you absorbing the hormones from the IUD. But, I suspect some doctor may refute this, although I don't know why.
Just a friendly question regarding this reply, if that's ok. If the anti-HSV meds work, does it mean that one has the virus? For example, undiagnosed pain diminishes when using Valtex = herpes?

Ok, here goes. This initially started 9 months ago w/ ejaculating blood. Went to internist and he said, "prostitus"... Went on cirpo for 2 weeks. Gone.. 3 weeks later and I felt like I was carrying a gallon of water in me. Turns out I was. I went to a urologist and he did a ultrasound on my stomach.. 311 cc's of liquid... After 4 months of carrying a gallon of water. 3 different antibiotics constant pelvic pain, always bloated, shooting penile pain...
Since that time, I have seen two Urologists, have had multiple xrays, blood work and urine tests (the blood and urine all come back clean). I have had a VCUG to check my bladder, lithotripsy to remove the kidney stone from my left kidney, an MRI of my pelvis and abdomen, a CT scan of my pelvis and abdomen, lasix renal scan and cytoscopy of my penis.
s father passed away from prostate cancer that spread to the back bone and blood. My dad is on Avodart and his PSA is 1.5 which the doctor is very happy with. His doctor, who is a specialist, said that if the PSA does not go up in 6 months and continues to decrease, then he may not need another biopsy after the 6 months unless the PSA goes back up. My dad is in a study and is being evaluated every 4 to 6 months.
Everything was good except my blood pressure was high for the first time. They told me not to worry and im not. But just wondering how likely it could be that id get pre eclampsia. I only have three weeks to go so thought i was safe from that. Lol. What should i look out for or do till my next appointment?
The benefits of BP meds could outweigh any risks of high blood pressure. I know that I will have to take BP meds when im pregnant. You should really consult your physician to see if this applies in your case. Aldomet is a BP med that is considered safe in pregnancy. I was on BP meds when I miscarried but had nothing to do with it. BP can be a serious problem in pregnancy and should not be ignored.
