Avelox and cipro

Common Questions and Answers about Avelox and cipro

avelox

Avatar f tn There are so many medications that mention "tachy" as a possible side effect. I'm not sure if the arrhythmia becomes permanent however. Often it clears up once the medication is discontinued/ended. I've taken Cipro a couple of times now and I'm prone to arrhythmias LOL and never noticed any difference while on the med. My albuterol for asthma cranks up my heart rate but only for 10 minutes or so.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if its ok to take antibiotics with riba? I'm not sure if I should take a dose of each together or should I wait and take the antibiotic (Avelox 400mg) separately. I'd rather take them together because each should be taken with food and I don't have much appetite so when I do manage to eat I'd like to get all the drugs down at once. Any input would be helpful.
Avatar f tn Took Cipro and the sinus pain was not improved so that was follwed by a course of Avelox where I ended up in the ER by day 7 on it [couldn't walk on my own needed IV fluids]. Off it for a week now and still really tired, various nerve pain, joint pain, muscle fatigue...seems to cycle, weak and dizzy, some blurred vision but it's all better than it had been just seems it should be gone since the meds are out of my system.

Avatar f tn It was New years day and I was horribly sick. I got ahold of my Dr. and he aske a lot of questions and we together thought that the cipro most likely covered the infection and then went nuts when I was off it. He then put me on a Avelox for 10 days. During the Avelox course of treatment, I was coughing very hard over the sink in the bathroom and from my right nostril a huge liver looking clot came flying out and splashed all over the place my shirt was covered.
Avatar f tn I found a post that said that medications from the fluoroquinolone antibiotics (such as Cipro, Levaquin, Tequin, Avelox or Floxin) can cause these symptoms...I took Cipro and Levaquinn about 7 years ago, for a few short days each and my doctor switched the medication saying I was allergic. Now I am wondering if all my symptoms that have gone undiagnosed could be a side effect of those medications. Anyone else able to tie the two together? If so, what can you do to make it better?
798555 tn?1292787551 The FDA announced on August 15, 2013, that fluoroquinolone drugs such as Levaquin, Cipro and Avelox will be required to change packaging inserts to contain a warning for severe, permanent and disabling peripheral neuropathy. The FDA states that the damage may occur very soon into the administration of the drugs and the damage may be permanent.
Avatar n tn READ ABOUT CIPRO AND YOU'LL STOP TAKING IT. IT'S A FLUROQUINOLONE, SAME AS LEVAQUIN, AVELOX ETC. IT'S POISON.
Avatar m tn I may just be working this up in my mind and Cipro and Azythro worked and got whatever it was and left the symptoms behind (not sure what it was, the original test did not culture the bacteria). As a precaution, he put me on Bactrim for 7 days. He is not sure it will have any effect. I am ready to ask for Avelox and go at this full force, but if it is not MG, it is a waste with alot of potential side effects. Any input is appreciated. Thanks for listening.
Avatar n tn Fluoroquinolone Antimicrobial Drugs [ciprofloxacin (marketed as Cipro and generic ciprofloxacin), ciprofloxacin extended-release (marketed as Cipro XR and Proquin XR), gemifloxacin (marketed as Factive), levofloxacin (marketed as Levaquin), moxifloxacin (marketed as Avelox), norfloxacin (marketed as Noroxin), and ofloxacin (marketed as Floxin)]" "FDA ALERT [7/8/2008]: FDA is notifying the makers of fluoroquinolone antimicrobial drugs for systemic use of the need to add a boxed warnin
Avatar f tn Tendinitis and peripheral neuropathy happen frequently. Cipro (and Levaquin, Avelox, etc) are extremely dangerous antibiotics and should not be taken unless all other antiobiotics that could kiil the germs have been tried. Do your research before taking any of these drugs. The list of adverse drug reactions is huge with many people having been crippled from them. They affect every part of your body.
Avatar f tn I had to take antibotics twice also. Very bad upper respiratiory infections. Levaquin and Avelox. It will not effect your chances at SVR and there are always all kinds of warnings about liver precautions on the medication guides but my hep doc said they were fine.
Avatar f tn Yeah, some docs don't like the drugs in that family of abx (Levaquin, Avelox, Cipro) as eventually they're going to get a patient with a bad reaction. Nothing like a ruptured achilles heel requiring surgery, crutches, and rehab to **** off a patient! ;) I just did my second set of blood tests today, and I see my LLMD on Wed. I have slowly declining kidney function, but I don't know if that's related to the Levaquin or what.
Avatar m tn Then a couple weeks later, another round of Doxy, then Metrondinazole and azythromicin. I was then in port, got a digital rectal exam, (very painful) and was prescribed Avelox. I took it for 35 days, and things were well, more or less. Back in port, went to resupply on avelox, they didnt have it, doc put me on cipro/trinidazole combo. Now a week later and the pain is back in my urethra. Could this be episodes of Herpetic urethritis?
Avatar m tn I have had a good amount of tendon pain mostly in left achilles and in tendons on top and bottom of arch of foot as well as some heel and knee pain. Again, like I said primarily left side. The achilles pain has subsided some, most of the pain and discomfort now is in the foot. I have taken quinolones a few times in the past (Cipro) with either no pain or some pain that subsided quickly at or shortly after end of course (same with left leg/foot, I think).
Avatar n tn For many years I have pains that pop up for no reason in joints and muscles and last for usually three to six months and then vanish. I get rashes and tiny red spots on my shins and then clear up. The rashes last about the same three to six months. I had these pains in both my shoulders at once, which almost never happens, so I thought it was my rotator cuffs going due to the work that I do.
Avatar f tn Avelox... I went yesterday and saw a lung specialist, he calmed me down and told me that i only have a little pneumonia in my lower left side it's nothing to be worried about. It's the bronchitis that's causing a lot of pain in my chest and back that I did not have prior to the antibiotics.
591925 tn?1218982710 They also sent me home with Pepcid and Lomotil and told me to continue the Cipro. Another 4 days and no relief and I finished my Cipro (I had been taking Pepcid, I had not taken the Lomotil at all). I made a follow up appointment with my doctor again this past Monday (12 days after symptoms started), and told him I had been to the E.R. and that my symptoms are not getting any better and that I had developed the side/flank pain.
1994720 tn?1352742233 So, no doctor knows why this is and they no even less about this condition (all think adverse drug reactions go away after ceasing the meds, well, me and over 100,000 other who reported to the FDA know otherwise). Other fluoroquinolones are Cipro and Avelox. I also have a double MTHFR gene mutation which made me more susceptible to this and screws with the methylation pathway which folate relies on. My iron and ferritin levels have been up and down. My gut is a wreck as well thanks to Levaquin.
Avatar f tn I know this is a late comment, but did you take an antibiotic for your sinus infection? There are several that cause the side effects you've described. They are Cipro, Levaquin, and Avelox. This is known as fluoroquinolone toxicity syndrome because this class of drugs is known as fluoroquinolones. There's a film called Certain Adverse Events that describes the stories of people in similar situations. And there are several online support groups. I wish you good health and healing.
Avatar n tn t abated, provider considered trich, and mycoplasm as possible culprits). I was also put on avelox 400 mg for 10 days as well. Currently I have 6 days remaining on the doxycycline and 9 days remaining on the avelox. I have not engaged in any sexual activity whatsoever since my diagnosis however I still have a very mild clear mucus discharge primarily in the morning; the penile itching and dysuria has abated.
Avatar n tn s on each side of the throat just made mouth swab and found Staph Aureus 4th levevel of growth or smth like that and E.coli 2. Was prescribed antibiotics named Avelox. Went through five day course of the Avelox. Noticed strange muscle twitching all over body and flu like symptoms, no increased temperature, basically weakness as the main symptom. Went to ENT month after taking Avelox for another mouth swab, no Staph, no E.
Avatar m tn I have had a round of Avelox a few weeks ago and recently Omnicef 600mg/day for 10 days and still have discharge. Question, wouldn't these antibiotics be affective against NGU, Chlamydia or Gonnorrhea? Thanks for the help.
1373852 tn?1307843048 t end up with avelox but took leavaquin that is a kin of avelox and six days later ended up having respiratory failure and in the hospital for 3 months one of which I was in icu on a ventilator.Since then I have had widespread muscular pain and multiple tendonitis as well as other issues so I don't agree that these antibiotics don't have side effects maybe you should read up more about the new black box warnings.
Avatar m tn After trying Doxy, Azithromycin, and Flagyl, the only antibiotic that finally worked was Avelox. The question now is what I should treat my partner with. I know from my experience that my NGU was passed sexually, and she needs to get treated before we can have sex again. The problem, is that she said she is allergic to Avelox. Another problem, is that since it is NGU, we cannot test to confirm if the bacteria is cured, and she is also asymptomatic.
Avatar m tn If the tendonitis is due to Avelox then yes, it can be treated as usual. The pain and inflammation will subside once the medication leaves the body completely. This may take a week. This is treated with NSAIDs, rest and orthotics or specially designed foot wear to ease the pressure off the tendon. Take care!
