I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working.
I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18.

Also, the infection has been treated with numerous antibiotics (amoxicillin, flagyl, omnicef, augmentin, clindamycin), and all seem to help at first, but only clindamycin has lasting effects. Not even augmentin worked. Any idea on what kind of bacteria would respond to clindamycin but not augmentin?
It may have nothing to do with your condition, but it could certainly have some impact. Alcohol, especially when used in greater than moderate amounts, has been found to be potentially damaging to almost all parts of the body. Additionally, have you been exposed to any sort of chemical compounds that could account for your symptoms? Often such symptoms can be traced back to such exposures or a combination of factors, of which alcohol consumption may be a contributor.
4 days on augmentin 825 for a chronic dental infection (now a bone infection), I started having major swelling in my hands. This is new, I've never had swelling like this. Yesterday my one hand looked freakishly red and swollen. It was so swollen, that when I straightened out my hand (which was difficult), everything turned white, inbetween the redness.
Anyway, I tried going off the augmentin (I'm taking it in conjunction with clindamycin), and today I feel much less swollen.

It may be Augmentin or it may be something else. I think you should mention this to your doctor.

These are my symptoms, I am 29 years old, it first started about 2 weeks ago with frequent and urgent urination in the day and less at night. sometimes with mild burning feeling but not all the time. Now, the burning feeling is constant even without urinating, and I have started to suffer from a low back pain. Discharge is sometimes noticed on underwear (don't know if urine or semen) but it's pinkish in color.. No fever or chills.
Scared I called my doctor, yet he told me that it is a side effect that is common with the high dose of augmentin I recieved. I finished the augmentin and I have no sore throat just thrush I recently started an anti fungal for it though. So I have some questions.
1.When someone contracts HIV are symptoms spread out like this?
2. Is 6 weeks too late to have symptoms of ARS?
3. Do you think that the thrush is medication related or HIV related, would it show up after 3 months?
My Dr has treated me with Metronidazole- brand name used was flagyl Nylstatin for yeast, clamycin,spandnox (for yeast), and recently had some relief with Augmentin(which was prescribed for a chest infection). When i was on augmentin all the above symptoms went away however came back 1 or 2 days after i came off the anti biotic.
I really thought I felt better when I was getting the shots. The Rocephin interrupted the course of Augmentin, so I finished the Augmentin after the shots were complete. I think I finished the Augmentin on a Friday, and that Saturday I had virtually no symptoms at all. Sunday they returned and have been bothering since.
Hi Vance, thank you. I tested 2 days after symptoms, they are mild and I am quite sure it's not syphilis, but still burning a bit when peeing. That's why I would finish with Augmentin, do you agree? What problems could I have by taking Augmentin if I have no infections at all? Thanks.
Just need a neurologist`s expert opinion as to whether or not it is alright to take Augmentin with my myoclonic seizure condition. Do not want to start up any seizures. However, this UTI is hurting so badly!!! If It is too risky then I can`t take it!!!! Please help me. If the medication doesn`t go with my seizure condition, then please tell me what the safest antibiotic would be. Thank you!!!
Because I had been previously diagnosed (and treated with 1000mg Amoxicillin three times daily) with a sinus and left ear infection about a month earlier he suspected that I could possibly have some type of resistant sinusitus and prescribed Augmentin XR (1000 mg) 2 pills twice a day. I had oral sex again with the asymptomatic guy again on 4/11. I was informed by the guy who developed gonorrhea of all this today, 4/14, and have not had sex with him since before his symptoms began.
All this means above is that the abuse of drugs and alcohol affect the liver with similar biophysical and chemcial changes when those substances are abused over a period of time.
If there are no studies that demonstrate a negative affect on fibrosis progression as a result of its use then those statements shouldn't be brought up unless the methodology of the study is disclosed.

I got the augmentin 400-57 suspension on Saturday afternoon. It is now Tuesday evening. It has been at room temp this entire time. How critical is refrigeration?
He told me that my throat seemed irritated and may be coming down with something ( This is about a month after the first symptom) and ordered blood work and prescribed me Augmentin. I started taking the Augmentin and on the 2nd day, I started having severe diaharea.That night, Iayed in bed and started having severe rectal pain. So severe that I could not sleep, walk, sit or anything.
Augmentin can cause liver damage, as can tylenol (if you take more than the recommended 4,000 mg/day). I suppose that the risk would be increased with concurrent use of augmentin and tylenol. Usually, once you have stopped taking the medication, your enzymes could trend downwards to normal.
Do you take any cardiac medications (ie. amiodorone, etc)?
I started having a diverticulitis flareup about 3 weeks ago with on and off symptoms for about 2 weeks. Becaause of my history of bowel abcess and the fact the symptoms became more constant I was prescribed Augmentin. Now 2 days in I have diarrhea. Should I discontinue the augmentin? If not, what is the best way to treatthe diarrhea?
