long standing sinus infection,had amoxicillin,now on 2weeks of augmentin,have 2 days left,developed itchy red areas on body ?
I have white/clear mucous and have used augmentin and azithromax one course after another (augmentin first and then azithromax) given by my doctor but the cough is not gone. My chest x ray is normal but the doctor could not do a pft because of my continuous cough at that time. My blood work for pneumonia diabetes and cholesterol are all good. sinus CT scan is normal too. Is this viral is it okay to take several months for cough to go away. I have no wheezing or asthma history.
it was back and this time it went straight to dry inflamed mode. Augmentin did not help. In fact from all the augmentin I got yeast and/or BV. I was given flagyl which worked for 2 weeks then it all came back with a vengeance. I didn't just have vaginal inflammation but ulcerated sores in my rectum as well. I'm still suffering from that as medications didn't make it completely go away.
Sorry i took some time to get back. I developed an allergy to Augmentin after I wrote to you. i completed the dosage - a skin rash! Anyway I went to the hospital and had an ultrasound done which revealed an inflammation so the surgeon said he would have to drain the abscess. Yesterday I had it drained and spent the night at the hospital and got back today with more antibiotics. I have to go back for a daily dressing over the next few days. My 12month old daughter has vomited in the middle of the night for the past 6 nights. She has been sick- first a cold then an ear infection and was on augmentin, but her last dose was yesterday. She is fine during the day but every night it is the same thing- her stomach starts making load gurgling noises and her mouth gets watery and she vomits. She sleeps with us and nurses before she goes to bed and then once more during the night.
Second Dr- said it is fungus,gave me Nizoral shampoo, after 3 days my face was having allergy reaction from the shampoo. stoped oozing is getting begger.
Third Dr- said it is infection, gave me Augmentin. after 3 days i have rash all of my body start with lower arms and lower part of my leg.
Fourth Dr -said it is rinworm and he doesn't know what i have in my body but it is not from Augmentin.(it doesn't look allgergy) and gave me Prednisone(for 10days), Grispeg(for 30days).
I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working.
I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18.

My feeling is she had a reaction to the penicillin, she has terrible seosonal allergies, the worst I have seen, horrible sinus issues since I have known her, ALLERGIC TO CATS, TOMATOES,NICKEL, GOLD, AND SOMETIMES GETS RASHY FROM LATEX. My feeling is augmentin+hives+allergy. So after all of this she tells me about the meds. She did have a rast test for penicillin and it came back negative, but an infectious disease Dr.

It may be Augmentin or it may be something else. I think you should mention this to your doctor.
If not then please advice of the forum to post my query. I had taken augmentin 1 gm to be taken twise a day for seven days. This was to relieve sore throat. The soreness was relieved but then dizziness was still there. I also started getting headaches and back pains with some unusual coldness in the middle abdomen and cold hands and feet. My doctor ordered me to have the tests of vitamin b12 which came out to be very low.
After recovering from a serious upper respiratory infection (Amox with Augmentin prescribed), I broke out in a terribly itchy rash. At first it appeared to be like scabies, so was treated for that. Then, at times it was hive like (even the scratches raised up like hives). It is not everywhere, underarms, breasts, naval, lower abdomen, back. chest, shoulders, wrists, hands. There are many small bumps mixed with bigger hive like bumps. Very, very itchy. Calamine helps.
Hi, I've had MANY sinus infections in my life. I always start off w/ a sore throat and ear and have major congestion/stuffed up nose, etc. I do have sinus pain/pressure a few days of the infection, too. BUT, right now I have had 10 DAYS of NON-STOP (nothing's relieving it!) pain in my cheekbones/under eyes/head/teeth, but I don't have the other usual symptoms. I'm on my 3rd day of Augmentin 875mg 2xday and taking an antihistimine.
anyone else have side effects AFTER STOPPING augmentin after the full 10 day dose? I have been off for two days and have awful sweating and hot flashes. I am male, and in relatively good shape. bp has been in the 140/70 range for three days. odd stuff. Ive usually had plain ole amoxicillin, but this stuff takes the cake.
