Hey, I've just been diagnosed with ADHD and I'll be taking Atomoxetine. It's the non - stimulant type, I was thinking the stimulant form of medication would suit me better with such as an Amphetamine based one. I was a user on speed awhile ago and when I was on I felt established, in control, I could concentrate and express my inteligence.

It Increases norepinephrine (NRI) stimulant-like action but lasts all day. Not a controlled substance. No direct dopamine effect so may be better tolerated. However, it Takes 2 to 4 weeks for maximum effects. Must be taken 7 days a week. So you got to give it time to take effect (unlike the instant effect of the stim meds). And it doesn't work for all.

Hi. There is no current study that prohibits Atomoxetine (Strattera) users to take creatine supplements. However, caution should be made when taking supplements, since both drugs can alter kidney function and cause urinary symptoms (e.g. stones, dysuria) when not taken properly. Every time I try a medication that has a reuptake effect on norepeneprhine I get this mild burning sensation on the left side of my chest. So far I have had this happen with Atomoxetine, Venlafaxine, Bupropion and now Nortrypytiline. It isn't anxiety, a panic attack or heartburn, just a dull, moderately uncomfortable, burning sensation. I'm fine with all the SSRI's and medications like Rexulti. It's just the ones that affect NE.

Your also not the first person that has reported Issues with Cymbalta. If an SNRI is needed then I say stick with Effexor or even consider the NRI Nortriptilyne or Remeron. Much safer IMO.

The literature on adults with ADHD is that they seem to benefit less from stimulants (and stimulant alternatives such as atomoxetine-- brand name Strattera, or Guanfacine--brand name Tenex) than children do. Nobody seems to know why this is yet. A psychiatrist would be your best choice for talking about your medication options based on your symptom presentation and overall health. Stimulants like Ritalin rarely have a dramatic life changing impact right from the first dose.

Hello again, "Anybody have experience like this or with these meds?" The following is all just my opinion. Everyone reacts to medicine differently: Concerta is an extended release form of Ritalin. Which is what I took when I was a kid. It is still a stimulant but it is much milder than Adderall. I think more doctors should start patients Concerta because it has fewer side effects than Adderall.

I also experienced extreme irritability and heat intolerance increasingly when I was taking twice as much atomoxetine as I as should have been unknowingly - 160 mg. Symptoms. For me went away when I reduced the dose.
