Avatar m tn Hey, I've just been diagnosed with ADHD and I'll be taking Atomoxetine. It's the non - stimulant type, I was thinking the stimulant form of medication would suit me better with such as an Amphetamine based one. I was a user on speed awhile ago and when I was on I felt established, in control, I could concentrate and express my inteligence.

1154945 tn?1262238945 Ok, I took Celexa for many months but eventually wanted to shy away from it because I did not like being on medicine. It made me feel really good and very happy, but there was an also accompanying high, sexual problems, and I did a lot of things I should not have and did not care that I did them. I ended up quitting because I did not want to keep taking the medicine every night, and it made my stomach quite upset when all I wanted to do was go out and have fun at night.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone. I'm new to this website and usually never post anything on the internet bit I have got to a place where I need some advice. I was diagnosed with ADHD 9/9 in March this year by a phsyciatrist at a harley street in London(remotley) I tried stimulants dextroamphetamine and listamphetamin but they didn't agree with me. I was then prescribed atomoxetine. I took these for 4 weeks- start with 10mg then 20mg then 40mg and called my harley phsyciatrist as I was running out.

Avatar f tn 0) after being on a dug trail for Atomoxetine, (last year, at age 45 yrs) by an A.D.H.D. specalist team in Northampton England. I have it extreamly badly, and after a disastor with Rittaline im now on Strattera (atomoxetine, which is not yet licenced in u.k.) is there any other adults out there that have been, like me, misdiagnosed for years because . .. when I was a child a.d.h.
Avatar m tn * Nonstimulant medication, such as the antidepressant bupropion (Wellbutrin and generic) or atomoxetine (Strattera), which is not available as a generic.
5944308 tn?1396478749 It Increases norepinephrine (NRI) stimulant-like action but lasts all day. Not a controlled substance. No direct dopamine effect so may be better tolerated. However, it Takes 2 to 4 weeks for maximum effects. Must be taken 7 days a week. So you got to give it time to take effect (unlike the instant effect of the stim meds). And it doesn't work for all.
Avatar m tn Hi guys, I hope someone is able to help me with this… I am currently taking Atomoxetine – a medication used to treat ADHD in adults. I take 40mg once daily in the morning and it really helps me to concentrate better and function the way I need to etc… One of the main issues I have is the effect it has on my penis and testicles.
Avatar n tn Hi. There is no current study that prohibits Atomoxetine (Strattera) users to take creatine supplements. However, caution should be made when taking supplements, since both drugs can alter kidney function and cause urinary symptoms (e.g. stones, dysuria) when not taken properly. I suggest that you ask your doctor first if these are safe for you to use. Thanks for asking.

20003388 tn?1515166040 Every time I try a medication that has a reuptake effect on norepeneprhine I get this mild burning sensation on the left side of my chest. So far I have had this happen with Atomoxetine, Venlafaxine, Bupropion and now Nortrypytiline. It isn't anxiety, a panic attack or heartburn, just a dull, moderately uncomfortable, burning sensation. I'm fine with all the SSRI's and medications like Rexulti. It's just the ones that affect NE.
Avatar m tn Throughout my life I have been taking a medication called Atomoxetine for the treatment of ADHD. One of the side effects of this medication was that it would always cause my penis and scrotum to retract as if they were extremely cold all the time throughout the day - causing me to have to take hot or warm baths to temporarily solve this.

Avatar n tn Many primary care providers treat symptoms of ADHD with stimulants or alternatives such as Atomoxetine (Strattera). Often, physicians and psychiatrists will prescribe stimulants to treat symptoms after they conduct a diagnostic interview with you and/or perform an examination to rule-out other factors that could be creating these symptoms (such as a mood disorder or thyroid problem). Stimulants are generally considered to be very safe, though side effects can be unpleasant.

Avatar f tn Your also not the first person that has reported Issues with Cymbalta. If an SNRI is needed then I say stick with Effexor or even consider the NRI Nortriptilyne or Remeron. Much safer IMO.
Avatar n tn The literature on adults with ADHD is that they seem to benefit less from stimulants (and stimulant alternatives such as atomoxetine-- brand name Strattera, or Guanfacine--brand name Tenex) than children do. Nobody seems to know why this is yet. A psychiatrist would be your best choice for talking about your medication options based on your symptom presentation and overall health. Stimulants like Ritalin rarely have a dramatic life changing impact right from the first dose.
Avatar m tn Hello again, "Anybody have experience like this or with these meds?" The following is all just my opinion. Everyone reacts to medicine differently: Concerta is an extended release form of Ritalin. Which is what I took when I was a kid. It is still a stimulant but it is much milder than Adderall. I think more doctors should start patients Concerta because it has fewer side effects than Adderall.
Avatar m tn I also experienced extreme irritability and heat intolerance increasingly when I was taking twice as much atomoxetine as I as should have been unknowingly - 160 mg. Symptoms. For me went away when I reduced the dose.
