Avatar m tn My friend takes 30mg Oxycontin twice a day, for chronic pain. She is considering insufflation (crushing and snorting), as she has heard this may produce better analgesia. I am terrified this will lead to addiction, and also terrified that if she does this, and finds it produces better pain relief, her painkillers will be taken away from her altogether.
Avatar m tn Hey, I've just been diagnosed with ADHD and I'll be taking Atomoxetine. Avatar n tn Hi. There is no current study that prohibits Atomoxetine (Strattera) users to take creatine supplements. However, caution should be made when taking supplements, since both drugs can alter kidney function and cause urinary symptoms (e.g. stones, dysuria) when not taken properly. I suggest that you ask your doctor first if these are safe for you to use. Thanks for asking.

Avatar m tn All the years my pharmacy gave me the Endo tamper resistant silicone encased Opana pills I was never tempted to try the tedious procedure of preparing them for insufflation which I read about online. People actually go thru a lot of work to insufflate or even inject the tamper resistant Opanas. I read about a lung disease from doing so, and a blood disease from injecting them. And what I read horrified me.
Avatar n tn Has your daughter tried a non-stimulant medication such as Straterra (atomoxetine)?
20003388 tn?1515166040 Every time I try a medication that has a reuptake effect on norepeneprhine I get this mild burning sensation on the left side of my chest. So far I have had this happen with Atomoxetine, Venlafaxine, Bupropion and now Nortrypytiline. It isn't anxiety, a panic attack or heartburn, just a dull, moderately uncomfortable, burning sensation. I'm fine with all the SSRI's and medications like Rexulti. It's just the ones that affect NE.
Avatar m tn Cocaine snorting is known in medical terms as cocaine insufflation. This practice damages nasal health in several different ways. First, when cocaine enters the body, it triggers an overactivation of a part of the nervous system called the sympathetic nervous system. Among this system’s many duties is regulation of the interior diameter of the body’s blood vessels.
Avatar n tn I have been on stimulant medications since I was in the 2nd grade for my diagnosis of ADD. I am now a college freshman. A good 5 years ago, I began taking adderall, deciding it would be most effective in treating my tendency towards distraction (According to the doctor, there is no hyperactivity). My dosage is currently 90 mg, and has been such for approximately 1 1/2 years. I am instructed to take 60 mg in the morning, and another 30 in the evening.

Avatar m tn Throughout my life I have been taking a medication called Atomoxetine for the treatment of ADHD. One of the side effects of this medication was that it would always cause my penis and scrotum to retract as if they were extremely cold all the time throughout the day - causing me to have to take hot or warm baths to temporarily solve this.

1014822 tn?1338648073 I had a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy with dye insufflation, and it wasnt that bad at all. Had a hard time coming out of the anaesthetic, but that was by far the worst of it. Oh yes, and i got a bit of a bruised belly button. I had NO gas pain whatsoever, no bloating, no nothing. The nurse I had said that my RE is excellent for making sure that all the gas is removed from the belly before he ends the procedure.
Avatar f tn Many just take the pills orally, some shoot them up, and most of the people crush and snort (insufflation..). Then decide if you have to cold turkey of if you are going to try and do a taper. Read through the Health Discussions (lower rt hand side of screen toward bottom or medhelp search engine..) and also the Amino Acid Protocols - - good healthy information. Read through the archives as much as you can.....knowledge is power here.. learn about the enemy!
497560 tn?1209975842 Although this complication has not been reported with lactulose, patients on lactulose therapy undergoing such procedures should have a thorough bowel cleansing with a non-fermentable solution. Insufflation of CO2 as an additional safeguard may be pursued but is considered to be a redundant measure. ---------------------------------- Note that it's not methane. Strange.
Avatar n tn ) But as others have said, ask a doctor...The fact that you are typing away right now is a good sign...O yea, even if you didnt filter the pills, I believe the only risk is of a clog which is a pretty instant type of problem...That help? The H...well, thats a different story! Who knows...
Avatar n tn Many primary care providers treat symptoms of ADHD with stimulants or alternatives such as Atomoxetine (Strattera). Often, physicians and psychiatrists will prescribe stimulants to treat symptoms after they conduct a diagnostic interview with you and/or perform an examination to rule-out other factors that could be creating these symptoms (such as a mood disorder or thyroid problem). Stimulants are generally considered to be very safe, though side effects can be unpleasant.
Avatar f tn My husband and I were so intrigued we had a deep conversation about this over dinner, discussing physiology and membrane transport. I found a few medical articles on it, including one from 1943 on the "fatal insufflation of a pregnant woman;" basically this poor woman was having some sort of vaginal infection and the time the treatment was to deliver medication via air. They pumped in 600 cc's of air into her vagina and she went into fits after they removed the insufflator.
Avatar m tn Yes, I am perfectly serious. So many people hear the word "cocaine" (or even just "drugs") and freak out. I would ask you to step back for a moment and question all of the generalities you prescribe to drug use. Drug use is not an all or nothing proposition. Consider your eating of cholesterol. Cholesterol can do serious damage to your arteries and cause severe and often fatal heart disease. I presume you don't have the same reaction to people who eat cholesterol.
Avatar n tn The literature on adults with ADHD is that they seem to benefit less from stimulants (and stimulant alternatives such as atomoxetine-- brand name Strattera, or Guanfacine--brand name Tenex) than children do. Nobody seems to know why this is yet. A psychiatrist would be your best choice for talking about your medication options based on your symptom presentation and overall health. Stimulants like Ritalin rarely have a dramatic life changing impact right from the first dose.
