Common Questions and Answers about Atomoxetine in adults

strattera

Avatar m tn Classified as a norepinephrine (noradrenaline) reuptake inhibitor, atomoxetine is approved for use in children, adolescents, and adults. However, its efficacy has not been studied in children under six years old. Its advantage over stimulants for the treatment of ADHD is that it has less abuse potential than stimulants,[2][3] is not scheduled as a controlled substance and has proven in clinical trials to offer 24-hour coverage of symptoms associated with ADHD in adults and children.
Avatar f tn I have it extreamly badly, and after a disastor with Rittaline im now on Strattera (atomoxetine, which is not yet licenced in u.k.) is there any other adults out there that have been, like me, misdiagnosed for years because . .. when I was a child a.d.h.d hadent been recognised. Avatar m tn Hey, I've just been diagnosed with ADHD and I'll be taking Atomoxetine. It's the non - stimulant type, I was thinking the stimulant form of medication would suit me better with such as an Amphetamine based one. I was a user on speed awhile ago and when I was on I felt established, in control, I could concentrate and express my inteligence.
Avatar m tn Hi guys, I hope someone is able to help me with this… I am currently taking Atomoxetine – a medication used to treat ADHD in adults. I take 40mg once daily in the morning and it really helps me to concentrate better and function the way I need to etc… One of the main issues I have is the effect it has on my penis and testicles.
Avatar f tn I have been taking bupropion 300mg for 3 weeks now and do not feel anything except for a bit of ringing in my ear in the evenings and maybe I have slightly less trouble getting out of bed in the morning. I have no one to talk to regarding taking this medication. I'm just reading reviews on drugs.com and trying things that work for other people. I have told my gp that I'm taking this but he wont give me advice regarding it as he hasn't prescribed them to me.
Avatar m tn * Nonstimulant medication, such as the antidepressant bupropion (Wellbutrin and generic) or atomoxetine (Strattera), which is not available as a generic.
Avatar n tn The most common side effects I've heard or seen in others is an increase in water retention, and feelings of dehydration. Creatine draws water from the body into the muscles and can make them appear slightly bloated. This will diminish once you've stopped taking the supplement, as will some of the weight you've gained. I recommend adopting a better diet for optimal muscle growth. There are plenty of meal plans made for bodybuilders on the net.

Avatar m tn Why is there such a large deviation or difference of opinion in different doctors on whether or not amblyopia can or cannot be treated in adults? Is it still because studies such as those conducted by McGill University (tetris) are relatively new?
Avatar n tn Hello Doug, Since I am a psychologist and not a prescriber, I can give you information about stimulants and ADHD in general, but the only one who should be talking specific dosage with you is someone who has reviewed your medical history and given you a physical. I see you wrote that you are taking zoloft at a pretty standard dose, but as I am sure you have discovered the SSRIs are a very different experience from stimulants.
Avatar f tn However, I did not wake up until morning, completely confused of what I was doing on the floor and what had happened. Most nights I will be in the middle of something or on the phone, not feel a bit tired, but instead wide awake.
20003388 tn?1515166040 Every time I try a medication that has a reuptake effect on norepeneprhine I get this mild burning sensation on the left side of my chest. So far I have had this happen with Atomoxetine, Venlafaxine, Bupropion and now Nortrypytiline. It isn't anxiety, a panic attack or heartburn, just a dull, moderately uncomfortable, burning sensation. I'm fine with all the SSRI's and medications like Rexulti. It's just the ones that affect NE.

1284078 tn?1271587111 My doctor is now going to refer me back to my old renal consultant as they just dont know what to do with me, as you know it is unusual in adults and frankly i think i am probably the only person they have ever seen with it (i live on a small island so thats not that far fetched) What gets me is that i have had a few years without any problems and i guess i got my hopes up that it was finally over. It is nice to know that i am not the only one out there going through this.
Avatar f tn I know Cradle Cap is used for babie's that have it but i just cannot remember the real name for it. Anyways my mum seems to have it and she's in her late 40's. The first time she got it was a few months ago, it started off with a severe itchy scalp and red itchy spots on her neck/back, then she woke up with a shock, her scalp was covered in yellow crust, it was awful she was so distressed, i had to get it out with a nit comb. That time she was suffering from stress.
Avatar n tn I have a 16 year old daughter who is a Junior in high school diagnosed with ADHD (Attention type) in elementary school and OCD and processing issues at the end of Middle School. Avatar n tn Hello, As you may have discovered in your research, hyperactivity is less commonly observed in adults and females of any age with ADHD. Individuals diagnosed as children tend to display less hyperactivity as they age. Typically, hyperactivity diminishes as people age to the extent that symptoms no longer significantly impact day-to-day functioning. Individuals with ADHD also tend to choose jobs where they can move around or where there are frequent changes or exciting challenges.
Avatar f tn I just posted this same response under another topic.....but it fits here, too: I am a 27-year old female who has just had an ICD implanted. It is the best decision I could have ever made. I am no longer experiencing skipped/abnormal beats. I feel so much better having the device, knowing that should my heart decides it wants to skip beats or even stop, I have a safety net.
