Hey, I've just been diagnosed with ADHD and I'll be taking Atomoxetine. It's the non - stimulant type, I was thinking the stimulant form of medication would suit me better with such as an Amphetamine based one. I was diagnosed with ADHD 9/9 in March this year by a phsyciatrist at a harley street in London(remotley)
I tried stimulants dextroamphetamine and listamphetamin but they didn't agree with me. I was then prescribed atomoxetine. I took these for 4 weeks- start with 10mg then 20mg then 40mg and called my harley phsyciatrist as I was running out.

0) after being on a dug trail for Atomoxetine, (last year, at age 45 yrs) by an A.D.H.D. specalist team in Northampton England. Aparently many medical teams around the world dont belive a.d.h.d goes into adulthood, belive me it does! I have it extreamly badly, and after a disastor with Rittaline im now on Strattera (atomoxetine, which is not yet licenced in u.k.) is there any other adults out there that have been, like me, misdiagnosed for years because . .. when I was a child a.d.h.
I have test results showing my dopamine level as low along with epinephrine, norepinephrine, glycine and taurine. What do you suggest as far as supplements?
Something interesting happened recently that both illustrates this and makes me think dopamine may have something to do with it.

One of the main issues I have is the effect it has on my penis and testicles.
Hi. There is no current study that prohibits Atomoxetine (Strattera) users to take creatine supplements. However, caution should be made when taking supplements, since both drugs can alter kidney function and cause urinary symptoms (e.g. stones, dysuria) when not taken properly. Basically to start with, I already have a low sperm count caused by epididymitis. I went for a fertility test and got the following results:

Liquification: Abnormal
Viscosity: Abnormal
pH: 8.0
Volume: 0.5 mL
Motility (Progressive): 28.50%
Motility (Non-Progressive): 62.00%
Motility (Immotile): 28.50%
Vitality Vital: 37.65%

Morphology: Normal - 3.40%
Sperm Concentration 24.3 Million per mL
Total Sperm Count: 12.
I appreciate the info on this and know what I have to do if I give in again. When I feel like using I'll just ask my wife to smack me in the nose and break it so I can get a dopamine dump and if it goes away just break a few fingers here and there who needs em anyway I can type with a pen.
So,i read researches on this area that says the dopamine agonists have been working well for those young people that the treatment with PDE5 inhibitors and psychological therapy has not worked.
So i decided by myself to take high dosage of pure vitamin B6 and my erection improved amazingly,but these high dosages can cause damage on the central nervous system after a time range.taking it into account i would like to do a doctor visit to ask to him a dopamine agonist,what do you think?
Anyway please note that dopamine is triggered when you are having fun and vice versa (even eating trigger dopamine production) or by directly stimulating the receptors with drugs... You can't just not swallow a precursor to dopamine and hope to give you a high moral boost or high sex drive... Anyway.. Rhodiola rosea might give you a little boost.

This is not good. :( And this is on top of numerous conditions I've had that cause low dopamine from numerous deficiency states to hypothyroidism.

if you're getting low in dopamine, a lot of folks try using the precursor nutrients, such as tyrosine, or phenylalanine DL. It's found in chicken, eggs, milk and cottage cheese.
Tyrosine converts into leva dopa, and you could try mucuna pruriens for that, but dosage is sketchy on each brand.
L-dopa is the last stop on the train before dopamine, cuz from what I understand, you can't "take dopamine". You give your body the nutrient and it has to make the stuff.
Why do u target dopamine? just curious..choline is a supp for dopamine shortages in the system...
What does high Dopamine levels imply? Which disease does this refer to as in Addison's or Cushing's? I have hyperpigmentation all over body joints and get tanned easily and have high BP. I have not done a cortisol test yet, but from the numerous tests I have done, my doctor said rthe est seem to be normal except for my dopamine levels. Thanks.
I was given a sleeping tablet prior to surgery and didn't fall asleep. I also remember taking a LOT of pain killers for the immense pain caused by a tooth abscess and it took 4 hours to take affect. I didn't really think anything of it until I read your comment. Hmmm. I find magnesium is good to help me sleep. Just to add I no longer get cold/flu/bronchitis/strep throat...etc etc since taking vitamin D. It's not called the antibiotic vitamin for nothing!
Amphetamines are thought to block the reuptake of dopamine and norepinephrine. This theoretically leaves more of these neurotransmitters available in the brain. However if you have low neurotransmitters to start with medications either will not work well or work for a while then stop working.
The precursors that go into the methylation cycle for SAMe, neurotransmitters, dopamine, serotonin are methionine, folate, B12, B6, TMG (trimethylglycine) and zinc, and maybe calcium and magnesium.
