ve been seeing an allergist because my allergies have really bothered me this year. He prescribed a medicine that is a nasal spray called Astelin. I hope I don't seem 'weird' asking his but have any of you been on one of these type of nasal sprays while having Hep C? If so, did you feel worse using the spray? I've been on it two days and it's making the area of my liver hurt and also in between my shoulder blades.
A quick trip to the doctor and I was told that I had some kind of nasty allergic reaction which clogged my sinuses, gave me a post nasal drip which in turn caused the sore throat and asthma to act up. She prescribed Astelin, a nasal spray antihistamine and described the allergic reaction as a sort of systemic thing and that the astelin should clear it all up. That was Wednesday. I've been using it as told since then and I've only really noticed a very very slight improvement.
ve also been taking Atenolol and spraying copious amount of Astelin nasal spray up my nose several times in the evening and at night. I have even been letting it run down the back of my throat and swallowing it because it's the only thing that makes me feel at least somewhat relaxed and sleepy.
However, I have begun to wonder if the Astelin and/or Atenolol might be actually aggravating my anxiety symptoms and making me feel worse.
I have had post nasal drip as long as I can remember. I am a 52 yr old mail, 5'9", 195lbs. My PND gummed up the back of my throat enough in July of this year to wake me everytime I nod off. I am now on sleep medication, clonazepam, Lunesta, now but which is barely working, Atavan is better and I can sleep but sedatives cannot be taken forever and this PND doesn't seem to be going away.
I am allergic to so many things - dust mites (severe), pollen (grass, tree, ragweed - pretty bad) and various animals (not to mention food now).
I've been on Rhinocort Aqua for several years with great results. On bad days I take Claritin. I've been on other steroid nasal sprays, but Rhinocort has been the most gentle.
I want to get off Rhinocort because I think the steroid is causing me to constantly eat as well as be irritable all the time.
would a nasal spray help with the clicking and head aches and feeling of a full head and ear??
Nope, no explanation. I wish I could ask questions there but I totally freeze up because I get extremely nervous. Then I try to come on here and get answers. I'm frustrated having to deal with this and I'm sure you are as well. This will be day 2 on the steroids and the Astelin nasal spray. No improvement yet but I'm trying to be patient. My doctor said they were going to refer me to an ENT if this hadn't resolved in 2 weeks. How long has this been going on for you?
You should have an examination of your nose and throat by an ENT specialist and a CT scan of your sinuses. In the meantime, nasal irrigation, also called nasal washes with low concentration saline might provide symptomatic relief. One therapy that sometimes works for this condition is a nasal inhaled steroid which temporarily decreases the inflammation, but does not cure anything. You might discuss this safe option with his doctor.

So, nothing is helping and the sensations are very troubling. IT is worth noting that I was diagnosed with Hashimotos Thyroidits about one year ago because of active anti thyroid antibodies.
Yes I tried Astelin, with all the thick post nasal drainage and my eyes get watery, well after I use the Astelin at night, I wake up in the morning and my eyes are not watery but they almost look like the tear film thickened up over my eyes as well as making the post nasal drainage thicker. I think seriously that I have tried EVERY nasal spray that was ever invented. My doctor even had a pharmacy make up a special nose spray for me .
My allergist says my underlying problem all along has been allergic rhinitis, and she has put me on Nasonex and Astelin, besides given me instructions on 'dust-proofing' my bedroom. I'm an otherwise healthy 30 y/o male with no previous history of allergies or any serious/chronic illness. I recently also had a blood test, which was normal except for slightly elevated Lymphocytes.
My question: Can allergic rhinitis present without coughing, runny/congested nose and itchy eyes?
I have googled it to no end. He also put me on Astelin which has helped a ton and he said Docs cant be so quick to judge and just call everything allergies. The reason I dont have allergies is I am just congested in the face and nose I dont have anyother sypmtoms such as Itchy anything or sore throats.
My MD started me on Bactrum 800 mg BID for 3 weeks and Bactroban nasal solution. I do sinus washes often and have increased recently. Any other suggestions?

I already had a Sinus CT scan done a few months ago that showed "mild" mucus thickening of maxillary sinus and deviated septum. My ENT said this was virtually negligible, but he put me on 2 weeks of antibiotics (Azythromycin) anyways, in case i had a bacterial infection. None of this helped my symptoms.

All these symptoms are leading to the possibility of chronic post nasal drip. Post-nasal drip is mucus accumulation in the back of the nose and throat leading to, or giving the sensation of, mucus dripping downward from the back of the nose. Post-nasal drip can be caused by excessive or thick secretions, or impairment in the normal clearance of mucus from the nose and throat.

I am a 48 year old male with a history of chronic sinusitis and allergic rhinitis. I also have a deviated septum on the left side. Allergies run very deep in my family and this year (from what I understand) has been an especially harsh time for people suffering from allergies.
Zyrtec, Astelin, Flovent discus, among other medicines to no avail. Any suggestions on medicines or potential cures?
i have nasal allergies and for the last week i have been really dizzy and whatever i eat it comes back. My stomach is sore to the touch and no appetite. as much as i love coffee, tea and other things i can not eat or drink them because they make me sick. i am already taking allegra and singulair and using astelin. what else do i need to take?
Went from being an avid athlete and runner to barely being able to walk up and down stairs - all in one week. Nasal congestion. Throat congestion/mucus feeling, particulary when outdoors or immediately after eating, accompanied by a deep cough, which doesn't really produce any mucus. No problems while sleeping. Full throat feeling on occasion that feels like I am being choked and a gas is trying to push through my throat.

2 or 3 days per week, I awake with a dull pressure-headache in my forehead, fullness in left eustachian tube, slight nasal congestion, malaise, very dry mouth, and scratchy throat.. The symptoms usually reduce a by the afternoon. I have noticed that this usually happens even after full night's sleep. In fact, if I sleep only 5 hours at night, then I don't get these symptoms. However, if I sleep a full 7-8 hours, I get the symptoms. I find this strange!
