Aripiprazole for bipolar

Common Questions and Answers about Aripiprazole for bipolar

abilify

Avatar m tn I would try replacing the Aripiprazole (Abilify) and the Sertraline (Zoloft) by taking 25mg of 5-HTP 3x Daily for 1 week as anymore than this could induce Serotonin Syndrome. I would then recommend swapping the tablets out for a 5-HTP transdermal patch which will release a more even dose of 5-HTP throughout the day especially if you have BPD as otherwise the oral form could cause mania.
Avatar f tn Hi I have recently been diagnoised with bipolar disorder and given the medication ariprprisole and beta blockers. I cant tell you how edgy i feel. My doctor took me off prozac too. I cant relax or sit still and im still not sleeping. Can anyone give me any advice. Thanks.
Avatar m tn おはようございます. I was on 6 mg a day for anxiety with my bipolar disorder for 10 years.: 2 in morming, 2 mg at noon. 2 mg at bedtime (6 mg total/day). It's ok. In the USA, it is given for anxiety not epilepsy.. 6 mg/day is highest dose for anxiety. You may be tolerant and require the 4.5 mg for your anxiety. Do not lower your dose on your clonazepam without your doctor knowing about it, if you've taken clonazepam for a long time because you will withdraw.
Avatar f tn I have just started taking Aripiprazole(Abilify) and have found it to have some beneficial effects on my mood. However I am also finding myself to be extremely drowsy. I have heard that this side effect wears off with time. Has anyone else experienced this? It's the first antipsychotic I've taken that's had any effect so I don't want to stop it but the fact I can literally go to sleep while standing up is making my life difficult.
918275 tn?1254068752 My psych says that she wants me to be on one med alone for my bipolar, the med of choice is Abilify. Is it realistic to think that one mood stabilizer will do the trick? I am having a real problem with the depressed side, and Abilify just doesn't seem to be helping. Perhaps I need an increase in my dose which is now a 15mg once daily. What do you think?
Avatar f tn It is interesting that they started him on Risperdal instead of a stimulant med. Risperdal is a great med for bipolar - especially dysphoric manias and/or mixed states instead of euphoric manias. So I am guessing that early on they might have been having trouble figuring out if he had Bipolar or ADHD? At any rate, that is a tough combination for a child to have - and perhaps even harder on the parent. The problem is that both areas need to be treated.
Avatar f tn Yes, I have lots. But lets start with ...you said she is on Latina? I assume you mean Latuda? And I hope you don't mean that. "Latuda is a medication known as an atypical antipsychotic that is used to treat symptoms of schizophrenia. The drug is also sometimes prescribed to treat depressive symptoms in bipolar disorder." It is not recommended for children unless they have bipolar depression or for adhd! What kind of a doctor prescribed this?
1257808 tn?1322762215 Please read all side effects on the meds you take. Always go with the lowest dose that works for you. Many pdoc's just randomly increase a med for no reason at all, disregarding that the lower dose works. The more of a med you take, the more chance of side effects. That's not to say you won't get any side effects on any dosage. Hope this is helpful.
Avatar f tn I might be pregnant and my psychiatrist told me not to worry about the embryo. He told me that even while I'm taking 15 mg of Aripiprazole and 50 mg of Sertraline daily, there is no danger. I'm really worried. if I'm pregnant, would these doses harm my embryo being taken daily?
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with medications for bipolar for twenty years now. Although everyone's bipolar is unique to them, I have bipolar I with psychotic features that only appear when I am medication free. I have been on a combo of lithium and geodon now for the good part of ten years, and a high dose of neurontin was added a while back to treat mania, anxiety and fibromyalgia.
Avatar f tn What is the lethal dose of aripiprazole, quetiapine and lamotrigine? Mix of them.

Avatar f tn Hi I'm on 50mg of methadone and 10mg of aripiprazole and I'm wondering if I should keep taking the 2 together as it makes me mega drowsy and also is this combination a thing to worry av about can someone let me know please?

Avatar f tn d like to continue taking the Klonopin for my anxiety but I feel I need something else for my mood swings. I have vaso vagal syncopy which causes low blood pressure and a short pr interval that causes me to have an increased heart rate but neither are truly dangerous. What is a good medication suggestion?
Avatar n tn I take Lamictal 200 for my bipolar 2 disorder and it helps a lot. 50mg is a really low dose.
Avatar n tn Thank you everyone, for your replies. I did see my dr. yesterday. I've had major depressive disorder for years, and have tried many ADs. I'm also on interferons for MS, and the interferons themselves can cause depression, even in someone without it. The depression makes me do less, and eat more. The dr. diagnosed me with bipolar, which is really surprising to me, as I don't have real manic episodes. She wants me to try Geodon.
Avatar f tn 2 anti psychotics, one is trifluoperazine and trihexyphenidyl hydrochloride combo and other one aripiprazole mt 5 and 1 mg of lorazepam for sleep. i want to see my pdoc but i am afraid he will give me ect as i saw some nurses in his room which i never seen in past 12 years. i am quite numb and can't respond to any kind of assault. it is really frustrating. since i am on anti psychotics, can i stop it by taking half for 15 days and then quarter for 15 days.
Avatar f tn I have been off my meds because i ran out of refills for 21 days now (i used to take 10mg aripiprazole, 80mg duloxotine, and bupropion HCL XL 300mg.) i dont know if that would effect my period but it’s worth a shot putting it out there. I feel as though something is really wrong but I cannot afford a doctor/emergency care because i have no insurance or income. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Does anyone know what’s happening with my body?
Avatar f tn Venlafaxine (Efexor) is used to treat anxiety - I have been on this medicine for 8 years and it works for me. Do remember though that it can take up to 4 weeks before you notice a positive change when starting up on Venlafaxine..
703238 tn?1297098358 There are some pretty vulnerable people that come to this forum for answers about medications and so forth. Vicoden is not a treatment for Bipolar. Ya, maybe it numbs you so you can't feel anything but it's going to come back and bite you in the arss. I know that your doctor has not prescribed this drug to you as a treatment plan. It's just plain irresponsible. I asked you earlier where you were getting your medication from and you didn't answer.
Avatar m tn She has had behavior problems since before they got her. She has been diagnosed as bipolar and kleptomaniac. Recently her behaviors have been getting worse. She has tired to burn their home down, she tried to climb out of the second floor window to run away, she has been writing notes about how she ate certain family members and would like to hurt them. They can't take places because of her stealing. They have found knives and razors in her room.
Avatar f tn ot and friends and family who says i am, i guess for me it will probably take another manic episode to proove to myselfi am but that is a risk.
Avatar f tn Sorry I should have been clear: I'm going in for a psychological evaluation specifically for bipolar disorder.
Avatar f tn is adderall being used for manic depressive/ bipolar disorder, especially when all other treatments have been ineffective even ect the persons mind is racing, foot is shaking, but body cannot get in action., like add of the mind.
Avatar f tn I've been taking medication for bipolar and anxiety for about 5 years. I'm still dealing with mood swings and changing doses on meds and that's okay. It's part of the course. My problem is that I'm stuck in the house most of the time and I really want to go out and get active again, but nobody seems to understand that I just can't move. My family is very supportive but they just don't have the time to hold my hand so I can get out.
