arimidex

Avatar n tn Hi there, Thank you for writing to us here, though I am sorry that you are struggling with side effects from the result of breast cancer medication. I am also a breast cancer survivor, however as I am triple negative, the hormonal drugs are not effective for me so unfortunately I cant speak from experience. However, that doesn't mean that I cant find out some interesting information for you in relation to libido and Arimidex.
Avatar n tn t know what testing you have had done to diagnose these symptoms but I suggest that you continue to seek a solution. You should also remember that some persons may experience side effects from medications that aren't usually recognized .... we are each very different and out bodies react in different ways. Regards ....
Avatar n tn Oh well I guess I have no other option. Any thoughts? How bad are your side effects and do they disappear eventually?
Avatar n tn I am ready to embark on the Taxotere/Cytotoxan treatment. There are medications to control most of the side effects. My doctor told me that if you put your hands and feet on something cold like frozen vegetable bags or ice during treatment it will lessen or eliminate the tingling/numbness. I'm going to try this. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Shortly after I started the drug, I started having hot flashes and bad leg cramps. My doctor then prescribed Effexor for those side effects. I started at 37.5 mg and worked up to 75mg which I took for 5 years. A month ago he changed my prescription to 37.5 mg and said to stop once the medicine ran out. I took my last pill 3 days ago. I feel horrible. I have nausea, dizziness, a swoshing feeling when I turn my head from side to side and just feel bad overall. I have been cranky and moody.
Avatar n tn Please inform me of side effects of Arimidex. Also confirm whether clinical tests proved that arimidex really prevent cancer from returning. Recently I had a lumpectomy. The cancer was confined to the lump in my breast and did not spread to the limph nodes. I had a serie of 30 radiation treatments. My bone density is deteriorating, thus I would like to know whether I have to take osteobond 70mg weekly. Will arimidex contribute to loss of bone density? Thank you very much. Susan.
Avatar m tn t believe you will see much hair growth. For further information on side effects from Arimidex the enclosed link is to an Arimidex Forum, check it: http://www.askapatient.com/viewrating.asp?drug=20541&name=arimidex Don't forget Arimidex is an Estrogen Inhibitor, that should give you a clue on what to expect. Take your time and read all you can from the enclosed forum link. Best regards.
Avatar f tn I doubt that it would get worse .... side effects of medications differ widely from one person to another so you never know what side effect you will experience or to what degree. I would think that some solution would likely come from your Oncology Team as they deal with these problems on a daily basis. You state that you have just recently started using something and things don't work immediately so give it a fair chance before going onto another option.
1415174 tn?1453243103 Hallucinations are not listed as a side effect of Arimidex on the chemo drug Web site or a Web site providing detailed info about medications in general, nor was it listed as a side effect in an older version of the PDR I have at home. Not saying that means it couldn't still be related to Arimidex, but is your friend taking any other meds that might have caused this symptom?
Avatar f tn s been 9 months now since I started Arimidex and so far, the side effects are (Thank God) minimal.I too have arthritis and the pain is really not much worse than before. Each person reacts differently to certain medications and if you see that the Arimidex does give you too many problems, your oncologist can prescribe another one that will suit you better.
Avatar n tn i. symptoms be a side effect of anastrozole (arimidex)? I have been taking it for 3 1/2 years, after 1 year on tamoxifen, following lumpectomy, chemo and radiation. Thanks for any feedback, Laurie .
Avatar n tn It is of course her decision re whether lowering the risk in her case is worth enduring the side effects. If she does choose to take an AI and the side effects of Arimidex are intolerable, she could see if she would do better on a different one. However, in at least one recent study, Arimidex came out ahead of the others in preventing recurrence. Best wishes to both you and your wife...
Avatar m tn Armidex may not prolong his growth period much longer with such an advanced bone age, it is a medication used to block estrogen effect, also used in breast cancer, there are concerns with the liver but if monitored carefully most have few side effects. However with a bone age of 17 1/2 growth is near completion. I would work with the peds endocrinologist and talk with them to discuss your concerns, plan of care and monitoring.
Avatar f tn m not sure if it was just a mistake or if you intentionally made this a poll between Arimidex and its side effects, or breast cancer. If so, only your vote counts. You are the only one who can decide what is the best decision for you. I didn't see any question in your post, but if you do have one, we'd be glad to try to help.
Avatar n tn I have had minimal obvious side effects, but some tough not so obvious side effects. It seems the longer I am on it, the side effects have been creeping in. I now have trigger thumb, hands are stiff. Had a bad fall in October, landing on my back and causing compression fractures in several vertebrae. I believe the anastrzole is complicating my recovery. Struggle with higher thought processes and memory issues. However, considering the alternatives.....the AI has not been so bad.
Avatar n tn the most common side effects seen with ARIMIDEX include hot flashes, joint symptoms, weakness, mood changes, pain, sore throat, nausea and vomiting, depression, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, swelling of arms/legs, and headache. Fractures (including fractures of the spine, hip, and wrist) occurred more frequently with ARIMIDEX than with tamoxifen (10% vs 7%). As for the burning...I,personally,have never been able to use anything but Ivory. Allergies.
Avatar m tn The endocrinologist wants to put him on that. I'm reading side effects and I don't feel comfortable giving it to him. I am going for second opinion. Just wanted to see if any other parents had experience with this drug.
Avatar n tn Since then I have had many of the typical side effects such as hand/joint pain, neuropathy in my hands, hot flashes, wakefulness at night etc. However, my sight in one eye has also begun to noticeably deteriorate. I know, because I had my eyes checked and a new eye prescription just before I started taking Arimidex. I saw my eye doctor again last week and my vision has deteriorated from 20/40 to 20/70 (with correction) in just a few months.
Avatar n tn Well, for me Arimidex was so very horrible, I barely lasted three days on it. I was in an almost catatonic state of depression two hours after I took the first dose, and then got just about every other bad side effect soon after. Femara, in comparison, relative to the other, was not so bad at all and I lasted almost thirty days. But not every woman has the same problems, or any at all. Many though do have some problems.
1162347 tn?1293503170 My BC surgeon says since my cervical cancer was in May/09 with chemo x50 + radiation x50 +3 brachytherapies that primary cancer is now gone because treatments were very aggressive. During treatments I was never sick or weak I did fine with a special diet, lots of fluids, sleep, Yoga and slight exercises as well as three hydration therapies p/week. I always had excellent health. Once over my first cancer, my oncologist requested a bilateral breast MRI + bilateral mammogram+ clinical exam.
Avatar n tn On the contrary, Hypertension is an uncommon side effect of Arimidex, and the blood clot problems are also less with Arimidex compared to the other hormonal treatment, tamoxifen. The management of hypertension should proceed just like the management of the more common forms of hypertension. It will be very hard to ascertain if the hypertension is due to the arimidex without formally withdrawing the drug and observing your blood pressure.
