Avatar f tn My son had sudden onset symptoms causing a STAT CT scan to rule out Appendicitis. It did rule it out. They found Mesenteric Lymphadenitis present. No infection has been found in the blood stream, in fact only signs of inflammation. Other test are being run by Pediatrician, but still await results. 4 % of body weight loss in the past week. The pain just doesn't seem to want to subside. Do you have any thoughts on how I can be more proactive to help him??
Avatar f tn I am 12 years old and I have been on crutches for 6 weeks. It started with pain in my right lower abdomen (like appendicitis). I was brought to the hospital where they did an x-ray and cat-scan of my hip area. The doctors suspected it was appendicitis until they saw the the test results- completely normal. About 4 days later my abdominal pain worsened suddenly and I couldn't move my right leg. I went to the hospital again, they did the x-ray and cat scan again of my hip, which were normal.
Avatar m tn Today marks the third day of what I think is InflamatoryBowel Disease, based on two important and classic symptoms -- occasional cramping plus inflamation -- both of which appear to be improving. So, as long as it seems to be improving on a day by day basis, it is my contention that I can probably handle the occurrence without medication.
Avatar n tn She is not tired during the day, has lots of energy, I would say that at least two to three times a week she has the sudden onset of the abdominal pain and nausea, and will run a low grade fever, but always has insomnia, she rarely sleeps more than 4 hours a night. We have found no results from doctors, the closest thing that they have come to diagnosing is irritable bowel syndrome. I have searched the internet and cannot find anything that matches her symptoms.

Avatar n tn This episodes generally have a sudden onset, last about two hours and then they gradually stop. After an episode I still feel very nauseated and can't keep food down. The residual pain feels like a dull ache. It may be another few days or week before I have another attack. Throughout my entire five day menstraul cycle I am in pain. I have lost nearly 25lbs since these attacks have gotten really bad. And the pain continues to get worse from month to month.

Avatar f tn when the pain became too severe and went to the ER for assistance. He was given an antispasmodic and pain medication. It was not appendicitis, of course. The pain continued. Fecal sample was negative for parasites. His doctor took urine, blood, and had a CT scan performed yesterday. The WBC was "slightly elevated", as it was a year ago, and lymph nodes in his abdomen were slightly enlarged. His abdomen was tender to pressure in one location yesterday.
Avatar f tn I was having severe lower right quadrant pain in my abdomen. They thought it might be appendicitis, but my CT scan came back normal. They said I didn't have a fever and wasn't really vomiting so they weren't going to do anything. They couldn't figure out what was wrong and sent me home with pain medicine, and told me to follow up with my family physician. Tuesday I went to a different ER because it had gotten about twice as bad; same pain, only worse.
1323549 tn?1276178147 s a coincidence with the other symptoms. She may have a virus, bacterial infection or something serious like a gallstones or appendicitis. What do you mean when you say she can "barely see?" Is it from crying? Where exactly is the pain located? When was the last time she ate, and what was it? How long has she been vomiting and is there anything left in her stomach? Any bowel changes? Any other symptoms earlier today or was it a sudden onset of symptoms?

Avatar n tn What you describe could be a number of things, including pancreatitis, appendicitis, diverticulitis, ... or something else altogether. This set of symptoms doesn't seem to be the type one can afford to ignore. Pls see a doc/urgent care right away. Hope you'll write again to let us know how you're doing.
Avatar m tn It hurts to walk and I must sit down with great care, I have performed some of the tests for appendicitis such as lying supine with my right leg bent and pushing over to the left...this results in much pain. Having been an EMT for many years I understand this could be appendicitis, however, I am confused about the pain free lapses. I live in the middle of no where with poor hospitals about 2 and a half hours away.
Avatar n tn As far as I know, the most apparent symptom of appendicitis (inflammation of the appendix) is a dull pain in the stomach on the right side, that moves to severe lower right abdominal pain. http://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders/digestive-diseases-appendicitis The above website explains different symptoms that could accompany appendicitis.
Avatar n tn When I had appendecitis I woke up in pain with a lot of abdominal pressure and was admitted for surgery that day. It felt like I was really constipated or something (sorry TMI), and was nauseous. It sounds like the pain you are having is more likely related to the pcos. I have had ovarian cysts in the past and it felt a lot like what you are describing. I'm not an expert, just my personal experience.
Avatar m tn An appendix is usually on the right side of your stomach and you will usually run a high fever with appendicitis. However, if you are still concerned, you can call your doctor and ask to speak to a nurse.

Avatar m tn s immediate fever fast acting, I said to this doc, well sure I read could be chronic appendicitis, he said, yeah great theory, he said me telling him mum stated appendicitis is immediate rapd onset, he said no mate your gave a great one there yes your right there is something called chronic appendicitis which can belive it take years or months etc to become serious or critical, and yeah you may be right but i think it's potential gallstones or your less likely chronic appencicitis slow
Avatar f tn According to WebMD diagnosing appendicitis can be tricky: "Symptoms of appendicitis are frequently vague or extremely similar to other ailments, including gallbladder problems, bladder or urinary tract infection, Crohn's disease, gastritis, intestinal infection, and ovary problems. The following tests are usually used to make the diagnosis.
Avatar m tn He then took a screening CT in the lab and gave the report as Chronic appendicitis with 7mm thickness. Ficolith inside the appendicitis and advised to remove it whenever you feel free but not an emergency. The Gastroenterologist was not convinced and he asked me to take a Contrast enhanced CT. Avatar f tn ve had an ongoing pain in my right lower quadrant, hourly abdominal cramps (below navel) that have acute onset then stop accompanied with a urgent need to evacuate. It seems to get worse at night. This has been going on for four days now. I'm not in agonizing pain, but it's about a 6 out of 10. Evacuation has been slightly productive with largely gas, mucous, blood, and some very loose stool due to the frequency leading to no chance for solid build up. I've lost 2 or 3 lbs.
Avatar m tn Hi, this could be ureter stone, right ovarian cyst or appendicitis. If pulse is more than 80 and blood shows high TLC counts, is suggestive of appendicitis. In case of ureter stone, urine usually shows infection and ultrasound is diagnostic, pain is usually radiating in nature. Well colon pain is colicky or dull in nature, do you have recent history of diarrhea?
Avatar n tn I have recently been experiencing right side pain and mentioned it to my GP. He sent me for a CT which confirmed mild appendicitis. Don't have typical appendicitis symptoms other than pain and some nausea. My doc says to get it taken out. I went for a consult with a general surgeon and he said he isn't 100% that's my appendix since I don't have all the acute symptoms. He said there is no such thing as chronic appendicitis and my doc says "oh yes there is". UGH...
Avatar m tn ) Over the next couple of weeks the pain became so intense I absolutely thought I was going to die. I ended up having appendicitis and being rushed in for laparoscopic surgery (where they also found diverticulosis, but mentioned nothing else.) I expected the pain to subside, but it did not. Since that day the pain has been more or less constant, at varying levels. Sometimes it would just appear, seemingly out of nowhere, and stay for however long it would like.
