Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis mcburney's point

appendicitis

Avatar m tn If it's to the point where it's bothering you you may need to get it checked out. Are there any accompanying symptoms such as bowel issues, types of food you've eaten? I wouldn't necessarily rule out appendix issues either - The symptoms of appendicitis can vary. It can be hard to diagnose appendicitis in young children, the elderly, and women of childbearing age. The first symptom is often pain around your belly button.
Avatar n tn A calcified concretion in the appendix considered diagnostic of appendicitis in the acute abdomen.
Avatar m tn My cousin said that is not significant enough to point towards appendicitis. My lymphocte percentage was low at 20.3 percent, and my mean platelet volume was also low 6.8. What really has me concerned though is that my blood sed rate came back at 32mm/h which is high. Im only a 20 year old male and this is pretty abnormal. I know sed rates are not specific to any disease, or disorder. But what can this possibly.
Avatar f tn The point we are making is that you are not stating your symptoms accurately. You have made an assumption as to what is causing the pain which is not possible without appropriate studies. Appendicitis isone of hundreds of things that can cause pain in the abdomen. The statement that your appendix feels like it getting bigger doesn't make sense. It is possible to have pain originating from the appendix without true appendicitis.
Avatar n tn Hello! I have joined this community in the hope that someone can help me! I am a female, 25 years old and I have been suffering from abdominal pain for years. The pain is usually in the right side, mid-way between my bellybutton and my hip. At times the pain is sharp and stabbing and causes me to double over in pain - I would give it a 7 out of 10 for intensity. Other times the pain on my right side is dull and aching, and sometimes this is replaced with a burning sensation.
Avatar f tn She has had a CBC (normal), 2 external ultrasounds (normal), 1 internal ultrasound (normal), CT scan (normal). Noone can figure out what is going on. She is frustrated and so am I. It is to the point that she doesn't want to go to the doctor or hospital anymore because she feels like they don't believe her. The pain is so bad that she can barely walk and is sometimes so severe that she is in the fetal position in tears. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciate....
Avatar n tn What you describe could be a number of things, including pancreatitis, appendicitis, diverticulitis, ... or something else altogether. This set of symptoms doesn't seem to be the type one can afford to ignore. Pls see a doc/urgent care right away. Hope you'll write again to let us know how you're doing.
Avatar m tn It hurts to walk and I must sit down with great care, I have performed some of the tests for appendicitis such as lying supine with my right leg bent and pushing over to the left...this results in much pain. Having been an EMT for many years I understand this could be appendicitis, however, I am confused about the pain free lapses. I live in the middle of no where with poor hospitals about 2 and a half hours away.
Avatar n tn As far as I know, the most apparent symptom of appendicitis (inflammation of the appendix) is a dull pain in the stomach on the right side, that moves to severe lower right abdominal pain. http://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders/digestive-diseases-appendicitis The above website explains different symptoms that could accompany appendicitis.
Avatar n tn When I had appendecitis I woke up in pain with a lot of abdominal pressure and was admitted for surgery that day. It felt like I was really constipated or something (sorry TMI), and was nauseous. It sounds like the pain you are having is more likely related to the pcos. I have had ovarian cysts in the past and it felt a lot like what you are describing. I'm not an expert, just my personal experience.
Avatar m tn An appendix is usually on the right side of your stomach and you will usually run a high fever with appendicitis. However, if you are still concerned, you can call your doctor and ask to speak to a nurse.
Avatar f tn now i am developing the same pain again after about 20 hours, so i want to ask can it be appendicitis even if ultrasound doesnt show it? one of my friend got operated last month, she was having the same pain but ultrasound didnt show anything even then she got operated n now is fine!
Avatar f tn Now the next day my lower right stomach is pretty tender, nowhere else, just lower right side. Should I be worried about appendicitis? Could it be tender from extreme gas and bloating? Thoughts?
Avatar m tn Also, I would ask for a blood test to rule out appendicitis, sometimes this can be a sign of beginning appendicitis, you certainly do not want it to get worse.
Avatar f tn I have all if the appendicitis symptoms ( bloating, diarrhea, constipation, severe abdominal pain followed by vomiting) but aren't these all pregnancy things to? I'm 41/2 weeks.
Avatar m tn He felt around for my hernia, took note of my symptoms, and said that my hernia was basically healed and that he thought that I could have appendicitis. This came as a surprise. He said that if the pain got any worse within the next day or two, or if the pain didn't go away at all, then we should go into the ER. The pain got slightly worse and a lot more frequent within the next 2 days so we decided not to risk it and go into the ER.
Avatar f tn Hi. I woke up with pain in my right side that got worse, I had a low grade fever it hurt to cough, to lie down at one point I couldn't get off my bed because every time I moved to get up it hurt too much i tried the lay on your left side move your knee and it hurt so bad, it only hurt when I pressed on my tummy was better when I let go.
Avatar f tn According to WebMD diagnosing appendicitis can be tricky: "Symptoms of appendicitis are frequently vague or extremely similar to other ailments, including gallbladder problems, bladder or urinary tract infection, Crohn's disease, gastritis, intestinal infection, and ovary problems. The following tests are usually used to make the diagnosis.
Avatar m tn He then took a screening CT in the lab and gave the report as Chronic appendicitis with 7mm thickness. Ficolith inside the appendicitis and advised to remove it whenever you feel free but not an emergency. The Gastroenterologist was not convinced and he asked me to take a Contrast enhanced CT. But the local doctor said it is not necessary and i don't have any acute episode and there is no such Chronic appendicitis.
Avatar m tn my appendicitis size is 7mm in my report but i am getting pain for every 3 months, the pain last only for 2 to 3 hrs and it decreased rapidly after any vomting or motion. should i use antibiotics or surgery is required.
Avatar m tn Hi, this could be ureter stone, right ovarian cyst or appendicitis. If pulse is more than 80 and blood shows high TLC counts, is suggestive of appendicitis. In case of ureter stone, urine usually shows infection and ultrasound is diagnostic, pain is usually radiating in nature. Well colon pain is colicky or dull in nature, do you have recent history of diarrhea?
Avatar n tn I have recently been experiencing right side pain and mentioned it to my GP. He sent me for a CT which confirmed mild appendicitis. Don't have typical appendicitis symptoms other than pain and some nausea. My doc says to get it taken out. I went for a consult with a general surgeon and he said he isn't 100% that's my appendix since I don't have all the acute symptoms. He said there is no such thing as chronic appendicitis and my doc says "oh yes there is". UGH...
Avatar n tn This past Sunday, I was sent home from the ER with a diagnosis of early appendicitis. I'd been suffering from a fever, lower/midline abdominal pain on my right side, and severe diarrhea for several days, and was told by my doctor to go to the ER to rule out appendicitis. Besides my signs/symptoms, the only abnormal finding was a slightly enlarged appendix in the ultrasound and CT.
Avatar f tn Did he rule out appendicitis? It IS missed diagnosed frequently. It can take up to 36 hours from the point of the first symptom to get really bad. I would get to your ER. Most blood work done early can make everything look fine. Please go to the ER. It may be other things but if it is your appendices you do not want it to burst. I hope this helps, see your doctor right away or go to the emergency room.
Avatar m tn hi im really worried i have appendicitis, i had diarrhea for 3 days, and now after all of that my lower right and lower left sides have a dull, tenderness to them, its not severe pain but im worried it might become severe. the more i think and read abut it the more it hurts. above my belly button hurt when touched as well, i do not have a fever, and i have not been vomiting, but once in a while my stomach feels like there s a dull kick in those three areas.
Avatar f tn I went to an aftercare and was told it could be appendicitis so they sent me to the er. The pain just kept getting worse and worse even at the er. They gave me a dose of hydrocodone and it did not even touch the pain. By now I was up to about an 8/10 for pain level. Then as the hour went on my pain became a 12/10 to the point where I was literally moaning and crying in pain in my lower right side all the way around to my back. They gave me two does of dilated at it did not touch it.
