Appendicitis how to diagnose

Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis how to diagnose

appendicitis

Avatar f tn t develop fever or vomiting with my appendicitis, reason why it was hard to diagnose, especially because it was behind my ceccum (for 1 month doctors suspected ovary pain...until my appendix burst). Can this time be stump appendicitis and doctors mistake it for cysts again?? I'm scared...
Avatar m tn t necessarily rule out appendix issues either - The symptoms of appendicitis can vary. It can be hard to diagnose appendicitis in young children, the elderly, and women of childbearing age. The first symptom is often pain around your belly button. (See: Abdominal pain) The pain may be minor at first, but it becomes more sharp and severe. Your appetite will be reduced and you may have nausea, vomiting, and a low fever.
Avatar m tn Also, I would ask for a blood test to rule out appendicitis, sometimes this can be a sign of beginning appendicitis, you certainly do not want it to get worse.
Avatar f tn I would take her to the ER. The symptoms you have described are classic of appendicitis. It begins in the upper area of the abdomen and kind of moves around until it localizes in the lower right abdomen. The fever and dizziness is also indicative of appendicitis. If her abdomen stops hurting all of a sudden, RUSH her to the ER because that is a sign that the inflamed appendix has burst. Please let us know how she is!
Avatar m tn Did you ever find a doctor in Michigan that believed in chronic appendicitis and removed your appendix? Did you find relief after. Your symptoms and tests to diagnose are identical to my 13 yr old daughter's.... and we have a history of chronic appendicitis in my family. My middle daughter, my sister and my grandson all suffered for 1 year minimum before it went acute and they had it removed. After, they were symptom free.
Avatar m tn takes about six to eight weeks to heal!
Avatar n tn He had appendicitis at the age of 3. This took the hospital over a week to diagnose and to operate on him. He was clearly graveley ill and his recovery was long and traumatic. Can these new illnesses he is now suffering from be in any way a result of the appendicities? 2. What are the risks he will be exposed to with the combination of cealiacs and diabeties? 3.Will it have an impact on his life expectancy?
Avatar n tn I think I would take him to the ER if you are not able to see his physician. Someone should see him today.
471949 tn?1236904026 So he said we should go to the ER, despite our both knowing that abdominal pain is usually very hard to diagnose, and I'm no MD, but have just had medical secretarial jobs. In the ER, his white count was 21,000, which the doc in the ER thought was "too high" to be appendicitis, so she thought he had diverticulitis, but she wouldn't actually come out and say very much because I'd already called my surgeon.
Avatar m tn The pain may not be related to the liver. Pain in the lower right quadrant can be due to appendicitis. The other symptoms for Appendicitis are fever, nausea, vomiting and malaise. It may not be picked up by imaging modalities. The other causes for pain could be urinary tract infection, renal colic and sometimes bowel infections. It could also be due to diverticulitis, Chron's disease, ulcerative colitis and parasitic infections.
Avatar n tn Go the doctor right away, tho' I'm guessing that by the time you read this, you may already have HAD to go. What you describe could be a number of things, including pancreatitis, appendicitis, diverticulitis, ... or something else altogether. This set of symptoms doesn't seem to be the type one can afford to ignore. Pls see a doc/urgent care right away. Hope you'll write again to let us know how you're doing.
Avatar f tn When in the ER, they did a pelvic exam to rule out PID, and were going to do an ultrasound to rule out appendicitis but decided not to when my bloodwork came back and my white blood cell count was only slightly elevated. I've been dealing with the pain which remains in the same exact spot just to the left of my right hip bone, and finally it got to be bad enough that I went to a gastroenterologist.
Avatar m tn I get bloated and pain radiates to sternum and mid and lower back and sometimes right hand side ribs hurts too. Feel like pulling sensation and cramps(twisted) around belly. Last year Doctor did a minor hernia repair behind the belly but pain still remains the same. I don't get nasuea or constipated or loose stools.
740419 tn?1309278186 , not acute, when she was in her 20s, she put up with the pain for months before having the appendix removed (my father had acute appendicitis in his 20s and was easy to diagnose).
9310208 tn?1410859285 Anyone experience upper stomach pain? Is this due to pregnancy or just maybe a upset stomach?
Avatar m tn showed that I had borderline appendicitis due to the appendicitis not filling with the contrast fully and the mesenteric lymph nodes of the area being “shoddy”. I was given Cipro and Flagyl for two weeks to see if that would fight the infection. After an ultrasound, they found my appendix healed completely. While the yellow explosive diarrhea has returned to coming 2-3 times/week (rather than the daily occurances) the pain in my lower right abdomen and back continued at the same intensity.
Avatar m tn I had chronic appendicitis 2 years ago. They did a normal surgery on me (not laproscopic) and after the surgery I get pains from the scarred area upto my right upper thigh area and the right side of my groin. It's a shooting pain which feels like I'm being pricked with needles. I've been to many doctors, they doon't seem to be able to actually diagnose precisely what the problem is. What can be done to cure it? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.
1003498 tn?1263919526 and since it is almost gone now i dont know what to think. im super puzzled because what you are describing to me is not how i have felt either..... well maybe it will completely go away.... although i would have liked to have known what it was. i figured maybe i could find out on here if anybody had the same symptoms but it does sound kinda odd huh?
Avatar n tn I was hospitalized on Friday night with sever pain to my right side the doctors have stated its either the start of appendicitis or a torn ligament. Awaiting test results. I'm on complete bed rest until I get the results if it is appendicitis what will they do and is there any chance it could hurt my baby. Also got the results of my last blood test which indicated my liver function was down.
Avatar f tn Don't want to scare you but my sister had appendicitis, the pain started off as random sperts but suddenly got worse as the appendix started to split, she was rushed into hospital and they performed an emergancy opp. Some cases heal themselves, others don't like my sister's. I would ask another doctor; if they send you home again, just watch for ANY changes and monitor your temperature, urine colour and strength of pain over the next 2-3 days.
Avatar n tn I went to the doctor and he said it is probably related to the PCOS. He has me on Metformin along with my Victoza. I hope it goes away soon. However, just today I realized I have my second kidney stone.
Avatar n tn As far as I know, the most apparent symptom of appendicitis (inflammation of the appendix) is a dull pain in the stomach on the right side, that moves to severe lower right abdominal pain. http://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders/digestive-diseases-appendicitis The above website explains different symptoms that could accompany appendicitis.
Avatar m tn Without being able to review your entire history it will not be possible to give you an exact answer, but generally speaking appendicitis should always be considered in the differential diagnosis (list of possible causes) of abdominal pain. However, I would not restrict the list to only appendicitis. The typical presentation begins with periumbilical pain (pain around belly button) followed by anorexia (lack of appeitite) and nausea.
Avatar m tn You may have a cyst on your ovary? See your dr. if it doesn't stop hurting.
