Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis burst

appendicitis

Avatar m tn re debating whether to let it be and keep monitoring it, or to go back to the hospital to check for a burst appendix. I know that the longer you let a burst appendix sit, the more serious the health concerns can be. This is all complicated by the fact that she doesn't currently have insurance, and the first visit to the ER was already very expensive. We don't want to go back and have another expensive scan if there's nothing wrong.
Avatar n tn If u really believe it may be I'd go to the er because if it burst it becomes toxic.
Avatar n tn When I had appendecitis I woke up in pain with a lot of abdominal pressure and was admitted for surgery that day. It felt like I was really constipated or something (sorry TMI), and was nauseous. It sounds like the pain you are having is more likely related to the pcos. I have had ovarian cysts in the past and it felt a lot like what you are describing. I'm not an expert, just my personal experience.
Avatar f tn ve searched for my simptoms online. This way I found out about stump appendicitis and I got mortified it could be that. Could the CT scan have missed it? All the other organs seemed fine. Last year, I didn't develop fever or vomiting with my appendicitis, reason why it was hard to diagnose, especially because it was behind my ceccum (for 1 month doctors suspected ovary pain...until my appendix burst). Can this time be stump appendicitis and doctors mistake it for cysts again??
Avatar f tn I haven't but my neighbour did. Welk actually hers burst. She was on iv meds for a while. Her baby just turned one and is adorable. Good luck! Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn If it is appendicitis, it could be very risky to wait, as your appendix could burst, resulting in serious medical complications, or even death.
Avatar f tn They started near my belly button then moved around my stomach. While at the hospital I had a blood test, and an ultrasound done to check for appendicitis. And everything came back normal. For the last five days I have been having pains in my back, kidneys, right side, right side abdominal pain, pain near my belly button, pelvic pain, pain right next to my hip bone, headaches, and nausea.
Avatar n tn I wouldnt wait too long with a pain like this , how is he doing now, always in my opinion if in doubt get a child checked out.
Avatar n tn Dear Marra315, I got X-Ray and a CT within a matter of minutes for appendicitis that I thought was a gas pain. However, I am concerned about the prolong expouser of radiation in such a short time apart.
Avatar f tn I would be worried that she may have appendicitis. If her lower right abdomen is tender to touch, this is likely. I'm not sure if your doctor ruled that out, but because it will be so long before you can take your daughter in again you could ask the doc to phone in a prescription for antibiotics and see if those help. If the appendix has burst, you would want to take her to the ER.
Avatar f tn I would take her to the ER. The symptoms you have described are classic of appendicitis. It begins in the upper area of the abdomen and kind of moves around until it localizes in the lower right abdomen. The fever and dizziness is also indicative of appendicitis. If her abdomen stops hurting all of a sudden, RUSH her to the ER because that is a sign that the inflamed appendix has burst. Please let us know how she is!
Avatar f tn I was just considering that maybe this would be a symptom of appendicitis, a rupture or potential burst? I always figured that the symptoms would appear and then the problem would occur, but I have been having these symptoms for a little less than a month, really. The thing is though I'm not sure if my symptoms are enough to match up with an appendicitis.. and it could be other things, maybe. Less severe problems. Anyway, I wanted to put this out there.
Avatar m tn there are no doctors here and you should get checked out to be safe. It could possibly be appendicitis particulary because you mention the right side. Most people's appendix is on the right side although at first the pain from it can be diffuse and not always on the right until its about to burst or did burst already. Do you have fever or any other symptoms? It could be a multitude of things causing your pain, btw.
136986 tn?1232399830 R when they thought I had appendicitis, but it was a cyst. I get numerous cysts each month, most of them burst which cause a great deal of pain. Lately my bowels have been weird. There's a lot of rumbling in my stomach, and I can feel everything moving around. I go a lot, but its normal. I've been on the gassy side too. Yesterday my stomach was killing in my pelvic area, to the right of my left hip. I figured out it was a cyst when I tried putting a tampon in.
Avatar f tn Sorry I couldn't find a forum for Appendicitis anywhere on this website which I found bizarre. My husband had an emergency appendectomy on 26th Jan. It was laporoscopic surgery and they also found an abcess that was infected so he had a drain attached to him in hospital for 4 days to drain all the toxins out. They sent him home 30th Jan for a weeks rest and antibiotics to take. I had to take him back to emergency 8th feb as he had high fevers and pain in the same area.
Avatar n tn Occassionally I have pain just to the left of my bellybutton which can be quite sharp (as though someone were prodding me with a needle). There is a very strong history of burst appendix in my family - namely my Grandmother, my Grandmother's sister, my Grandmother's brother and my mother - who developed peritonitis and was actually given 2 hours to love - thank heavens, she survived. I have been to the doctor numerous times in the past 10 years and was diagnosed with IBS.
Avatar f tn Did he rule out appendicitis? It IS missed diagnosed frequently. It can take up to 36 hours from the point of the first symptom to get really bad. I would get to your ER. Most blood work done early can make everything look fine. Please go to the ER. It may be other things but if it is your appendices you do not want it to burst. I hope this helps, see your doctor right away or go to the emergency room.
Avatar n tn Pain in this area, especially when in conjunction with a fever, is potentially appendicitis, which can be deadly if allowed to burst. The pain can radiate toward the belly button, as well. If it's not in this area, it's up to you if you take her to the ER, though it might not be a bad idea. At the very least, be there for her, get her what she needs, help her around if she needs to get to another room in the house.
Avatar f tn t want to over eat. Any idea what it could be? Someone said this happened to them for a month before their appendix burst, or I read something about gastritis, and I did drink too much alcohol last week, as I had visitors.
Avatar n tn About twenty minutes ago i had really bad side pain. My roomate said i should go to the emerency room, but i wanted a professional opinion about this. This pain was not in my stomach area it was in my lower right side and it hurt really bad. It felt like i was being stabbed in the side and about made me sweat. It put me on the floor it hurt so bad. It only lasted a few minutes and then it went away though so i figured it was just a random side pain.
Avatar f tn Hi, The severe pain can be due to appendicitis, ruptured ovarian cyst, torsion of a cyst, pelvic infection, endometriosis etc. Also such symptoms can be because of an ectopic pregnancy. Hence if there is such a risk, a pregnancy test can be done. Discuss with your Doctor. Take care and good luck.
1559675 tn?1303670064 It could be a cyst, could be appendicitis, could be a fibroid (which often gives women pregnancy symptoms), you could have a hormonal imbalance, etc. Dealing with a cyst- usually they resolve on their own. Some burst.
Avatar f tn Well, my opinon is different You don't always get the acute appendicitis sometimes it isn't as severe as this persons says. My sister in law her husbands both burst before they knew they had theirs. They had some pain and then went in. It wasn't severe. I had a fever, and nausea and some stomach pain. They took mine out when I was kid. So, I think it does vary and you should check it out. How low is the pain? Way below the belly button but just above the bikini line?
Avatar n tn Alright. I am 29 years old and I have no medical history. This all started about 8 weeks ago? I went to urgent care because I was having serious stabbing pains in my lower right abdomen. It started as stomach discomfort but after two days or so moved to my lower right abdomen. After seeing two doctors they were convinced that my appendix was inflamed and I even failed reflex tests but other symptoms were lacking. I had no diarrhea, no fever, no blood in my stool, and no nausea or vomiting.
