Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis and weight loss

appendicitis

Avatar n tn I have gained a significant amount of weight over the last few years after having surgery for a ruptured appendix. Prior to the appendicitis, i had lost 85 pounds and maintained the weight loss. Could the low cortisol and high thyroglobulin AB be related to the weight gain? The dr. is retesting the cortisol for a morning reading. Thank you.
Avatar m tn He then took a screening CT in the lab and gave the report as Chronic appendicitis with 7mm thickness. Ficolith inside the appendicitis and advised to remove it whenever you feel free but not an emergency. The Gastroenterologist was not convinced and he asked me to take a Contrast enhanced CT. But the local doctor said it is not necessary and i don't have any acute episode and there is no such Chronic appendicitis.
4468619 tn?1355059640 My husband had your symptoms and he had tests and scans and he was told that he did not have appendicitis....fast forward almost two years, he finally started vomiting and he went to the ER. It was appendicitis, but only the upper tip of his appendix was inflamed. His pain was atrocious! They did remove his appendix at the hospital. So I guess sometimes it can flare and then calm down enough to not show up on a scan. Besides, and ultra sound and blood test won't always test positive at all.
Avatar f tn Not sure where to start here. Basically for the last 4 weeks I've had bloating, abdominal pain and excess belching. I've also lost over a stone in weight since this all happened. Been to see my GP who has referred me for an emergency ultrasound (waiting on appointment) took urine and blood sample (still waiting on results) when I lay down my abdomen under my belly button is hard and tender too. Anyone been through the same thing and found out what all of this is please?
Avatar f tn I have been having intermittent bouts of description would be a dull needle like feeling mostly right of my belly button say 2 inches beside maybe and on the less often bouts that pain can be feeling on the left side same distance from my belly button that does seem to hurt much more if it happens on that left side but it almost always occurs to the, right side, with this and or without this pain kind of best described to be like a dull knitting needle pressing into something deep, I have many t
1800585 tn?1315853521 This has been going on too long and with teh weight loss and inability to eat solid foods, the cause needs to be investigated further - however, an ER is not the place for that investigation to be done. What meds are you on? Did the pain and vomiting begin the same time your cold started or which started first? Any diarrhea or loose stools? Have you found anything that makes the pain better or worse (positioning, empty vs full stomach, etc.)?
Avatar n tn When you repost this please include any and all labs and values you have currently, what the doctors have said, and what his symptoms are. Yes, unlike doctors we are very interested in symptoms. We believe that is the heart of auto immune and it goes so commonly ignored. I really hope you get some answers soon!
5441042 tn?1368009773 I know it's been a while since your post, but did you find out what it could be? I have the same symptoms and really bad health anxiety, which is causing some slight weight loss and it's making me think something's wrong with these symptoms. I've had tests done, urinalysis, blood work, ultrasound, and everything came back normal. It all started about a little more than a month ago and the doctor at the e.r .
Avatar m tn In late August, when I returned to college, I started to get this diarrhea consistently for a full two weeks that was accompanied by lower right quadrant abdominal pain along with lower right back pain, night sweats, weight loss, chills, and thirst increase. When I eventually reached out for help in early September I was rushed to the E.R. for a possible appendicitis. The CT Scan in the E.R.
Avatar f tn We are now in the hospital because of the pain and weight loss and whenever she eats it hurts her stomach to the point she’s crying and not sleeping. They preformed a colonoscopy and endoscopy and they found some imflammation on her small intestine...we are waiting for results...doctors act like she is crazy! She also has heartburn and sometimes it’s hard to breath. Anybody ever gone thru this before...it’s a nightmare when you cant help our child feel better and tell them what’s wrong!
Avatar n tn with IBS and sent away, as in spite of the doctors frequent mention of IBS, I do not seem to have any of the key symptoms, and I also know that bleeding and weight loss are not typically associated with IBS. Any advice on how to have this conversation with the doctors, assuming they find nothing else revealing in the colonoscopy (which of course they might)?
Avatar m tn I am now experiencing my second episode of abdominal pain - symptoms include excrutiating pain from the chest to belly button - diahorrea - nausea - lack of appetite - weight loss - fatigue and loss of concentration. I am a 35 year old female and very scared. Please help!
Avatar m tn I have NO other symptoms like pain, blood in stools, gas, fatigue, nausea or weight loss (though I have always been underweight)... But Google's been scaring me saying a "change in stools" could be a sign of cancer. My father is a Doctor and so is my father-in-law, both dont seem worried, one says it's ok, thats just your 'type', and your body may be overcompensating since all these years it was constipated (?!)... my father-in-law says check for... appendicitis?!

Avatar m tn s immediate fever fast acting, I said to this doc, well sure I read could be chronic appendicitis, he said, yeah great theory, he said me telling him mum stated appendicitis is immediate rapd onset, he said no mate your gave a great one there yes your right there is something called chronic appendicitis which can belive it take years or months etc to become serious or critical, and yeah you may be right but i think it's potential gallstones or your less likely chronic appencicitis slow
Avatar n tn Hello, I am an otherwise healthy 39-year old male I would say, a bit of a hypochondriac I would say, hence this post …Back in 2004 I had surgery for appendicitis and after my surgery the strangest thing happened….The center-outer part of my left thigh started burning.
Avatar f tn My 16 year old daughter has been suffering since April 2015 with constant nausea (but not being sick), acid reflux, dizziness, fatigue and slow weight loss (appetite was okay) it came on all of a sudden. She was admitted with suspected appendicitis in the September 2015 as she was having bad stomach pains/cramps sickness with a high temperature but it was diagnosed as mesenteric adenitis on a ultrasound scan. She has had a couple more episodes a few months later but never went to hospital.
Avatar f tn I agree that some people go to the ER and are dismissed. However, when someone says that they have been to the ER many times and that they doctors haven't been able to FIND anything wrong implying that testing has been done (as opposed to someone saying that the doctors don't aren't looking for anything) an appendicitis would have been ruled out. Also, the problem was most likely caused or set off by the back surgery which would make it seem strange for it to be an appendicitis.
Avatar f tn Lower right abdomen pain is commonly due to appendicitis. The pain, can at times come and go and not give the classic picture. Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, infection in kidney, kidney stones, constipation, and an abscess in rectus abdominis muscle or psoas muscle can all cause lower right abdomen pain. In your case since the lymph nodes are also swollen, there is a chance that you have either a local infection, vaginitis, cervicitis etc or there is a chance of STD (is that possible?
Avatar n tn I've been dealing with Abdominal discomfort for about four weeks now. I get pain at times, but for the most part my stomach feels weird. 188306 tn?1274132622 Hi everyone, I have had 1 surgery 2007 and gain about 40 lbs. Had another surgery 1 year ago and gain 40 more??? I got really depressed recently don't want to go anywhere. I feel ugly and fat. Loss of energy but feel like I want to get out there and be free (just a free feeling)? Very weird? I'm tiered of feeling this way... I want to change be happier for myself. I have a supporting husband 2 gorgeous kids. Funny by the way! I want to lose weight to feel healthy, emotionally better!
Avatar f tn I hate to bother strangers online with my issues, but I'm desperately trying to figure out the best course of action without spending a ton of money. I don't have insurance, and I'm back in school and doing clinical rotations after a layoff, so missing days isn't something I want to do any more of. Thing is this issue isn't getting any better.
Avatar f tn s been having temps and diarrhea loss of appetite headaches on and off the last week and a half she gets light head and nausea and now she has as she describes it "an aching pain" in her stomach on the right side next to her bellybutton What could be causing it and what should i do

Avatar f tn First I would make sure your thyroid is ok, as that could make it impossible to lose weight. Then I would read up on pre-diabetes and weight loss as it is important to lose weight and alter your diet to slow the progression of diabetes. Send me a PM if you want the name of a website with pre-diabetics and diabetics and a forum on diet.
5485096 tn?1375574235 Actually most GI issues will not show up on a CT scan. Appendicitis, especially chronic and ther bowel disorders causing chronic inflammation and thickening of bowel or bowel growths and cancer can be caught on CT scan. For conditions like IBS, Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis, you need to get a video encapsule endoscopy or a sigmoidoscopy or a colonoscopy, as appropriate. Conditions like celiac can be ruled out by specific blood tests.
