Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis and necrosis

appendicitis

Avatar m tn She ordered some blood tests which showed raised liver enzymes with both ALT and GGT in the 90’s. She diagnosed me with seborrheic dermatitis on my face and scalp with chronic urticaria on my arms. I have been taking Fexofenadine for the chronic urticaria which is meant to burn itself out after 12 to 18 months. In March of last year I had my appendix removed after which the doctor described it as a nasty case of appendicitis with the appendix having a sloughy surface.
Avatar f tn I asked a Radiologist what it looked like on the ultrasound when she was draining my seroma and she said that I had fat necrosis and that I should not worry about it. When I mentioned it to my surgeon he seemed not concerned about it. My questions are: 1. Fat necrosis symptoms will go away on their own or something should be done. I have a feeling that I need a second opinion regarding this. 2.
Avatar f tn RESOLVED THIS... The black was old blood and from being burned. WHEW! Necrosis is never fun...
Avatar f tn Exactly 4 weeks later I developed appendicitis and had it removed via laparoscopic surgery, the surgeon said it was "messy in there". I have had no other symptoms suggestive of HIV. My concern is the appendicitis was due to lymphoid hyperplasia (swollen lymph tissue) caused from a viral infection (HIV) given it occurred so soon after exposure. It seems a bit out there to consider them related however I do see it as a possibility, but was unable to find any studies to confirm.
Avatar m tn The doctor biopsied a nodule about 3.5cm across and the result was benign - at this point I should mention that no other nodules were tested as all the doc found in the first test was 100pc thyroid material. My T3/T4 are totally normal and my TSH is 0.33 wheras a normal reading is 0.30. Recently I have been feeling like I am getting a bad cold or allergies leaving me feeling very lethargic. The thing is it doesnt turn into anything, it just makes me feel ikky!
Avatar m tn 4. Appendicitis goes with nausea, vomiting and raised leukocytes in the blood. Appendicitis is painfull at any time you press on area. Bouncing sign is present: lye down on the back and press deeply sopmewhere on your lower LEFT abdomen, then release the pressure quickly. In peritonitis or appendicitis you should feel a sharp pain on the LRQ area. Peritonitis would also show marked inflammation in the blood.
Avatar f tn Hi, About a month or two ago, I believe I had strained some muscles while working out. The pain didn't happen right away maybe one or two weeks afterwards. At first it stemmed from my neck, shoulders, and upper back. Soon after I started to feel pain in my chest, both sides right by my armpits, lower back, and abdomen area especially on my right side. The pain is usually sharp. When I do sit for a long period of time, both my right and left sides hurt but more on my right.
Avatar m tn An appendix is usually on the right side of your stomach and you will usually run a high fever with appendicitis. However, if you are still concerned, you can call your doctor and ask to speak to a nurse.
Avatar n tn I am experiencing exactly what you described now today would be the 4th day... everyone saying I should be at the ER but I am terrified of hospitals. My pain constant in my back on the sides like the flank area and that's a constant dull ache it radiates to my abdominal but there's a sharp pain that goes straight through to the back Right side of abdomen two inches from my naval ...
Avatar n tn I have contact nausea and slight unsteadiness. I have had a CT of my head and a ECG of my heart to rule out anything extremely serious. At times the nausea gets soo bad i feel like i may faint. Also the pains in my abdomen seem to get worse when i eat or after a night out drinking. Then the pain gets very sharp and spreads to the left side and lower left of the back, i get hit by a sudden feeling of weakness and have to lie down.
Avatar f tn now i am developing the same pain again after about 20 hours, so i want to ask can it be appendicitis even if ultrasound doesnt show it? one of my friend got operated last month, she was having the same pain but ultrasound didnt show anything even then she got operated n now is fine!
Avatar f tn Im 10 weeks pregnant and got my appendix removed yesterday (saturday) they told me about the risks with the anastesia and baby, but they also told me that if i left it in and it ruptured id lose baby for sure. Anyone else have their appendix removed and had a perfectly healthy baby?
Avatar f tn 30 am with bad stomach pain (top middle), bloating, and gas. I went the the ER about 6 hours later and received indigestion meds. I felt much better outside of mild abdominal discomfort from gas still. Now the next day my lower right stomach is pretty tender, nowhere else, just lower right side. Should I be worried about appendicitis? Could it be tender from extreme gas and bloating? Thoughts?
Avatar f tn Last night I started having a dull pain on the right side of my abdomen, across from my belly button, it went away today but came back around lunch time. It went away again and now at 2am it has come back. I pressed on my stomach a bit and it send a shooting pain through my belly button area. Its not SUPER painful, just more of a discomfort. I've also started urinating WAY more in the past hour and I'm not sure if its related but my knees began aching REALLY bad out of nowhere.
Avatar n tn An appendix that ruptures is a very serious and life threatening issue and can lead to death due to blood poisoning, also known as septicemia or sepsis.
489228 tn?1291531454 I have papiallary necrosis. Yes, part of my kidney is dead and I was passing tissue. MSK puts you at an increased risk for this. Then add OTC or rx pain med and you've got a deadly combo. Our kidney cannot tolerate constant use of nsaids ot tylenol which is in all pain pills. Please be careful. I know the pain is terrible, but this can lead to kidney failure and dialysis. We're trying demerol for acute phaseof necrosis, but I pray the pain ends soon.
Avatar n tn d been suffering from a fever, lower/midline abdominal pain on my right side, and severe diarrhea for several days, and was told by my doctor to go to the ER to rule out appendicitis. Besides my signs/symptoms, the only abnormal finding was a slightly enlarged appendix in the ultrasound and CT. I was told to keep an eye out for things, and to go back asap if things got worse- which they likely would within a reasonably short amount of time.
Avatar m tn What is stage 2 grade 3 and should I consider going on Interferon, Ribavirin and Victrelis?
Avatar f tn As soon as she left the bedside, I told my ex I still thought it was appendicitis. The surgeon got there and heard the story, saw the white count, and examined him. He said it was gangrenous appendicitis and started an IV. Then after 6 hours or something he took out his appendix. So yeah, it can be confusing sometimes. The thing they most often confuse it with is diverticulitis. That can be even worse than appendicitis though.
Avatar n tn m not sure why this is labeled fat necrosis, but a BIRADS 3 rating often results in a wait and see, with possibly a 6 month follow-up, not necessarily a biopsy. I would definitely ask your doctor why she thinks it should be biopsied. Did your doctor mention fat necrosis? Fat necrosis is a benign condition, supposedly produced by trauma to the breast, considered somewhat rare (except in cosmetic surgery circles apparently). I don't believe it is as rare as indicated.
624800 tn?1221801752 m guessing with the central comedo necrosis but I think it has to do with the evolution of the area and its current state. Necrosis is cell death if I remember correctly, and i think that occurs within tumors as they evolve (I know that uterine fibroids develop necrosis when they outgrow their blood supply). I think the tumor grade has to do with how aggressive it is. All that said, you should talk to your doctor about all these specifics.
Avatar f tn Hi and thanks for using the forum. What you have described are classic symptoms of appendicitis. I recommend that you see your doctor as soon as possible to rule this out or go right to the ER for evaluation. If appendicitis is ruled out, this could be anything from some constipation to a stomach virus, or even somthing like an ectopic pregnancy. This really needs to be evaluated. Good luck.
Avatar m tn He then took a screening CT in the lab and gave the report as Chronic appendicitis with 7mm thickness. Ficolith inside the appendicitis and advised to remove it whenever you feel free but not an emergency. The Gastroenterologist was not convinced and he asked me to take a Contrast enhanced CT. But the local doctor said it is not necessary and i don't have any acute episode and there is no such Chronic appendicitis.
Avatar f tn AST levels fluctuate in response to the extent of cellular necrosis (cell death) and therefore may be temporarily and minimally elevated early in the disease process, and extremely elevated during the most acute phase. Depending on when the initial sample was drawn, AST levels can rise- indicating increasing disease severity and tissue damage- or fall- indicating disease resolution and tissue repair.
