Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis and hydronephrosis

appendicitis

Avatar n tn It has general symptoms with the fever and nausea and pain..and then goes away without treatment...Does it get worse when she lays flat? Occur at only bedtime or at night? Any sweats with it? dizziness? Bowel movement changes? If it occurs during the day as well, it could be a food allergy with "leaky gut" syndrome...This can cause poor vitamin b absorption and lead to other problems...With appendicitis she would want to lay very still and with a leg drawn up...
Avatar f tn I went into the ER last week because of excruitiating pain and a blood test revealed a high creatinine level. Today I was diagnosed with hydronephrosis and hydroureter via ultrasound with no known obstruction. I have read that hydronephrosis could be a sign of pelvic cancers. Should I be worried about cancer considering I have both the cysts and the hydronephrosis now?
Avatar f tn The only way to completely rule this idea out is a CT. Seveal things can cause hydronephrosis. They are crossing vessels that lay on the ureter and cause an obstruction, another is a floating kidney tat drops down when you stand up, and of coarse if you had a stone blocking the ureter. One of the things that can go along w/ hydronephrosis is UTI. This is because the urine stays in the kidney too long and causes infection to build up.
Avatar m tn It could also cause kinking of the ureter and corresponding hydronephrosis. As the kidney is functioning well, your doctor could have opted to wait for the surgery. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I have two large cysts on my left ovary and a blood test revealed that my creatinine level is 96 μmol/l. This is outside the normal range of 45-90 μmol/l for women. I was wondering if there could be a connection.
Avatar n tn Whilst ultrasound allows for visualisation of the ureters and kidneys (and determine the presence of hydronephrosis and / or hydroureter), an IVU is useful for assessing the anatomical location of the obstruction. But now CT is the investigation of choice for finding out the obstruction. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn Treatment depends on the severity and cause of the hydronephrosis. Children with mild hydronephrosis caused by mild obstructions may simply be monitored by renal ultrasound and VCUG and receive no treatment, as the problem is likely to correct itself. Infants will probably undergo these imaging tests at around 2-3 months of age. Surgery relieves the obstruction or reflux causing hydronephrosis. Avatar m tn I have an ultrasound after hematurea and it shows Bilateral mild hydronephrosis with residual urine (after voiding) with no stone and obstruction. what should i do next?
Avatar f tn How long after his crysis and simultan hydronephrosis diagnosis woul you recomend a new ultrasound? After 2 days after the renal colic he feels only mild pain in his back from time to time and he doesn;t have problems peeing.Thank you very much!
Avatar n tn I had hydrponephrosis twice when I was pregnant with my daughter because of kidney stones, and I was on antibiotics and pain meds and my daughter turned out absolutely fine (delivered at 40wks, healthy weight, absolutely no problems mentally or physically so far...she's about a year and a half old now and very smart and healthy). So I would definitely not worry about the pain meds....taking them is better for her than not taking them.
Avatar f tn t take it all away, but it is better than all of it and I knew something was wrong, but had no clue until had the bone scan that I had Hydronephrosis and Degenerative hip/joint disease(never heard of it either...and a fractured rib(an old one is what the nurse said.....how in the world?)Anyway, any input on this would be greatly appreciated. I will check back tomorrow.. so I hope someone will give me something.
Avatar f tn I`ve been retaining enormous amounts of water and have bilateral kidney pain and pressure. Does anyone know what the symptoms of hydronephrosis are? I`ve been running to the doctors for months now and absolutely no testings have been done. Please, please somebody answer. I don`t know where else to turn anymore.
Avatar f tn I am 31+6 pregnant with my third baby. I was diagnosed with hydronephrosis in my right kidney at 18 weeks. The pain has been tolerable for the most part and not very bothersome. For a month now my blood pressure has risen some but all blood work has come back perfect and so have urine tests. But for the past three days I have had swelling like I have never had in a pregnancy with my legs swelling up to my knees even if I stay off my feet.
Avatar m tn html The urinary system—the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra—filters waste from the body and removes it in the form of urine. In hydronephrosis, the outflow of urine is impaired, putting stress on this vital system. Hydronephrosis isn’t a specific diagnosis. Instead, it’s a finding that shows that urine is overfilling the kidney. A number of conditions can cause this backup of urine.
Avatar n tn Visualized portions are normal. LIVER: The liver is normal in size. The liver contour is normal. Parenchymal echogenicity is normal. No focal hepatic lesion. There is no intrahepatic biliary duct dilatation seen. GALLBLADDER: 0.7 x 0.4 x 0.6 cm gallbladder polyp. The gallbladder is physiologically distended without evidence of stones, sludge, wall thickening or pericholecystic fluid. COMMON BILE DUCT: Normal in caliber measuring 0.4 cm in diameter.
Avatar f tn The timing of the procedure depends upon the underlying cause of hydronephrosis and hydroureter and the associated medical conditions that may be present. His treating nephrologist can clarify your concerns. Do discuss your queries with his attending doctor. Keep me posted. Best wishes and regards!
Avatar f tn developed severe pain and my usscan shows moderate left hydronephrosis and dilated proximal ureters.no visible calculi.I had severe pain for one week only responded to voltaren supp.finally my urologist suggested me ureteric stent to relieve my ureteric obstruction.two days back surgery was done. after that I developed severe pain in my loin almost all time and urge to pass urine in every 30 mins which is accompanied by severe pain.
Avatar f tn Exactly 4 weeks later I developed appendicitis and had it removed via laparoscopic surgery, the surgeon said it was "messy in there". I have had no other symptoms suggestive of HIV. My concern is the appendicitis was due to lymphoid hyperplasia (swollen lymph tissue) caused from a viral infection (HIV) given it occurred so soon after exposure. It seems a bit out there to consider them related however I do see it as a possibility, but was unable to find any studies to confirm.
Avatar n tn How long ago was your surgery and when was the hydronephrosis diagnosed? Are you under the care of a doctor other than your hysterectomy surgeon? I know this can be a very serious condition but don't know much about it. This article may be helpful - https://urology.wustl.edu/patient-care/reconstructivesurgery/urologic-complications-from-surgery/. I had different complications (bowel problems) post-hysterectomy and had a hard time getting proper help.
Avatar m tn 4. Appendicitis goes with nausea, vomiting and raised leukocytes in the blood. Appendicitis is painfull at any time you press on area. Bouncing sign is present: lye down on the back and press deeply sopmewhere on your lower LEFT abdomen, then release the pressure quickly. In peritonitis or appendicitis you should feel a sharp pain on the LRQ area. Peritonitis would also show marked inflammation in the blood.
Avatar m tn I was at Gp today as the pain is horrendous and I occasionally pass out and also vomit with the pain, and was told that the staghorn is in fact on my right kidney (which I have very little pain on) I have the hydronephrosis and a small stone on the left side, I am worried now that if I have op to remove staghorn which I know I still need, that I will still have the pain on my left side, as don't think I can cope much longer, and would you normally get all this pain with just a small stone o
Avatar f tn Then I developed hydronephrosis of my right kidney and was in horrible pain. Ended up in the hospital for two days on fluids for dehydration. Not even a week later I started bleeding and rushed to the hospital where I was already 8cm dilated. No one can explain why I would have preterm labor. The dr said it had nothing to do with the hydronephrosis. The only thing the hydronephrosis did was prevent me from feeling the labor pains because I was in horrible pain already.
Avatar f tn Hi, About a month or two ago, I believe I had strained some muscles while working out. The pain didn't happen right away maybe one or two weeks afterwards. At first it stemmed from my neck, shoulders, and upper back. Soon after I started to feel pain in my chest, both sides right by my armpits, lower back, and abdomen area especially on my right side. The pain is usually sharp. When I do sit for a long period of time, both my right and left sides hurt but more on my right.
Avatar f tn i have mild hydronephrosis and hydroureter on ultrasound, also a ureterocoele seen on the same side - left ureterocoele is 3.6*0.77cm, ihave no symptoms now, but as a child i had uti frequently. now i am 43 years old. can i live with this condition as i have lived for 43 years now.
Avatar m tn An appendix is usually on the right side of your stomach and you will usually run a high fever with appendicitis. However, if you are still concerned, you can call your doctor and ask to speak to a nurse.
Avatar n tn I am experiencing exactly what you described now today would be the 4th day... everyone saying I should be at the ER but I am terrified of hospitals. My pain constant in my back on the sides like the flank area and that's a constant dull ache it radiates to my abdominal but there's a sharp pain that goes straight through to the back Right side of abdomen two inches from my naval ...
Avatar n tn I have contact nausea and slight unsteadiness. I have had a CT of my head and a ECG of my heart to rule out anything extremely serious. At times the nausea gets soo bad i feel like i may faint. Also the pains in my abdomen seem to get worse when i eat or after a night out drinking. Then the pain gets very sharp and spreads to the left side and lower left of the back, i get hit by a sudden feeling of weakness and have to lie down.
