1689801 tn?1333983316 I have myoclonic spasms of the diaphragm which can start with hiccups. Hiccups as I understand it and I could be wrong come from spasms of the diaphragm. The phrenic nerve is irritated. The spasm can be really painful.
Avatar f tn Exactly 4 weeks later I developed appendicitis and had it removed via laparoscopic surgery, the surgeon said it was "messy in there". I have had no other symptoms suggestive of HIV. My concern is the appendicitis was due to lymphoid hyperplasia (swollen lymph tissue) caused from a viral infection (HIV) given it occurred so soon after exposure. It seems a bit out there to consider them related however I do see it as a possibility, but was unable to find any studies to confirm.
Avatar m tn As soon as the hiccups start, take continuous sips of water. It works for me. My uncle also has had a life time of bad hiccups and said it didn't work. When I told him to start the sips as soon as the hiccups start, now he says it has worked! And yes, it could be a consequence of the stroke. I read at the Mayo Clinic site that hiccups are a form of myoclonus which I have. My particular kind causes sudden involuntary jerks of my muscles which was caused by my stroke.
455051 tn?1255826518 I have felt my baby move but I was wondering what a kick and hiccups feels like? My ob/gyn asks me if I have felt the baby kick and I say no b/c I am not sure what to feel. I feel a pulse when I put my hand on my belly but thats about it. I can right now feel him moving back and forth on my bladder.
Avatar f tn Hiccups will feel consistent and more evenly spaced apart. Kicks tend to be more random and don't have a pattern.
Avatar m tn 4. Appendicitis goes with nausea, vomiting and raised leukocytes in the blood. Appendicitis is painfull at any time you press on area. Bouncing sign is present: lye down on the back and press deeply sopmewhere on your lower LEFT abdomen, then release the pressure quickly. In peritonitis or appendicitis you should feel a sharp pain on the LRQ area. Peritonitis would also show marked inflammation in the blood.
Avatar f tn It's normal and healthy for baby to have hiccups. My Dr always asks if my baby had the hiccups and says he's healthy if he does.
Avatar f tn I asked my midwife about it and she said its normal and some babies gets the hiccups a lot. The hiccups have slowed down the past couple of weeks but are still frequent.
Avatar f tn Hi, About a month or two ago, I believe I had strained some muscles while working out. The pain didn't happen right away maybe one or two weeks afterwards. At first it stemmed from my neck, shoulders, and upper back. Soon after I started to feel pain in my chest, both sides right by my armpits, lower back, and abdomen area especially on my right side. The pain is usually sharp. When I do sit for a long period of time, both my right and left sides hurt but more on my right.
Avatar m tn An appendix is usually on the right side of your stomach and you will usually run a high fever with appendicitis. However, if you are still concerned, you can call your doctor and ask to speak to a nurse.
Avatar n tn I am experiencing exactly what you described now today would be the 4th day... everyone saying I should be at the ER but I am terrified of hospitals. My pain constant in my back on the sides like the flank area and that's a constant dull ache it radiates to my abdominal but there's a sharp pain that goes straight through to the back Right side of abdomen two inches from my naval ...
Avatar n tn I have contact nausea and slight unsteadiness. I have had a CT of my head and a ECG of my heart to rule out anything extremely serious. At times the nausea gets soo bad i feel like i may faint. Also the pains in my abdomen seem to get worse when i eat or after a night out drinking. Then the pain gets very sharp and spreads to the left side and lower left of the back, i get hit by a sudden feeling of weakness and have to lie down.
Avatar f tn now i am developing the same pain again after about 20 hours, so i want to ask can it be appendicitis even if ultrasound doesnt show it? one of my friend got operated last month, she was having the same pain but ultrasound didnt show anything even then she got operated n now is fine!
Avatar f tn Im 10 weeks pregnant and got my appendix removed yesterday (saturday) they told me about the risks with the anastesia and baby, but they also told me that if i left it in and it ruptured id lose baby for sure. Anyone else have their appendix removed and had a perfectly healthy baby?
Avatar f tn 30 am with bad stomach pain (top middle), bloating, and gas. I went the the ER about 6 hours later and received indigestion meds. I felt much better outside of mild abdominal discomfort from gas still. Now the next day my lower right stomach is pretty tender, nowhere else, just lower right side. Should I be worried about appendicitis? Could it be tender from extreme gas and bloating? Thoughts?
Avatar f tn Last night I started having a dull pain on the right side of my abdomen, across from my belly button, it went away today but came back around lunch time. It went away again and now at 2am it has come back. I pressed on my stomach a bit and it send a shooting pain through my belly button area. Its not SUPER painful, just more of a discomfort. I've also started urinating WAY more in the past hour and I'm not sure if its related but my knees began aching REALLY bad out of nowhere.
Avatar n tn An appendix that ruptures is a very serious and life threatening issue and can lead to death due to blood poisoning, also known as septicemia or sepsis.
Avatar m tn Even if some time has passed, a CT scan of brain, chest X-ray and ECG should be done. It is quite possible that the hiccups you had were due to something you ate that caused gastric irritation. However a brain bleed needs to be ruled out. If the bleed was small and localized, you may not feel any other symptoms. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn What is the cause of chronic hiccups and chest and body pain? This discussion is related to Chest pain with deep breath and persistent hiccups.
377412 tn?1283809646 The baby had hiccups and it felt sooooo wild! Im sure some of you 2nd time moms are laughing right now!! I was like wow OK thats an ODD feeling LOL. If you havent felt it you are going to just be wowed by it when it happens. He also lays in his favorite spot on the right side of my belly button....I LOOK ODD. Sort of lopsided....
Avatar n tn d been suffering from a fever, lower/midline abdominal pain on my right side, and severe diarrhea for several days, and was told by my doctor to go to the ER to rule out appendicitis. Besides my signs/symptoms, the only abnormal finding was a slightly enlarged appendix in the ultrasound and CT. I was told to keep an eye out for things, and to go back asap if things got worse- which they likely would within a reasonably short amount of time.
Avatar f tn My doctor and midwife and packages says hiccups do not count as kicks.
Avatar f tn As soon as she left the bedside, I told my ex I still thought it was appendicitis. The surgeon got there and heard the story, saw the white count, and examined him. He said it was gangrenous appendicitis and started an IV. Then after 6 hours or something he took out his appendix. So yeah, it can be confusing sometimes. The thing they most often confuse it with is diverticulitis. That can be even worse than appendicitis though.
Avatar n tn t felt her hiccups down low in the pelvic area like I had been. But I cleaned the house and have been moving around a lot then when. I sat down I felt them low low low right in the middle of my pelvis. So could she have flipped? I felt my belly up high when she was having the hiccups and felt her hiccuping but it was stronger in my pelvic area.
Avatar f tn Hi and thanks for using the forum. What you have described are classic symptoms of appendicitis. I recommend that you see your doctor as soon as possible to rule this out or go right to the ER for evaluation. If appendicitis is ruled out, this could be anything from some constipation to a stomach virus, or even somthing like an ectopic pregnancy. This really needs to be evaluated. Good luck.
