Avatar m tn First of all you always check with a Pharmacist first. Its true that certain antibiotics can give you a yeast infection due to the fact they tend to "kill off" the flora in that part of your body. Also be aware that certain and most can also make birth control pills non effective for 30 days so use another form of protectection until your next full cycle.
Avatar n tn For these reasons, and because no chemoprophylactic regimen is completely effective, women who are pregnant or likely to become pregnant should be advised to avoid travel to areas with malaria transmission if possible (see Chapter 8, Pregnant Travelers). If travel to a malarious area cannot be deferred, use of an effective chemoprophylaxis regimen is essential. Pregnant women traveling to areas where chloroquine-resistant P. falciparum has not been reported may take chloroquine prophylaxis.
Avatar n tn Well, hey! Good to hear from you. My LLMD treated the babesiosis first, and the mepron/zith did the trick. I was way better just getting rid of the babs. I haven't heard or read much of anything about lariam (aka Mefloquine) ... but I just looked it up on wikipedia (however trustworthy that is or isn't), and found some interesting stuff: "Mefloquine is used to prevent malaria (malaria prophylaxis) and also in the treatment of chloroquine-resistant falciparum malaria. ...

Avatar f tn I read that Babesiosis can cause drenching sweats. It's very similar to malaria. Its one of the co-infections that often accompanies lyme disease. It's treated with anti-malaria drugs and antibiotics. If you have lyme you should be tested for it as well. I had the symptoms as well as lyme disease symptoms but when I asked my doc if he checked for co-infections I was told that he did what he is supposed to according to the AMA and the CDC. No further testings was done.

Avatar f tn wondered if u also get yeast infections...antibiotics can cause a flare up of a yeast infection...so do ask for DIFLUCAN to help prevent that issue altogether. Speaking with a Pharmacist may be the best help in knowing what meds would be best for u with the H.Pylori...it can be resistant to antibiotics...and can require a second round. Then, the antibiotics can kill off all teh good bacteria u need, so ask ur dr about taking a probiotic afterward.
Avatar f tn Then I came out in a rash, so I went to the doctors. They tested for malaria, West Nile fever and dengue fever. I'm still waiting for the results. I started to feel a bit better and the bites had all bar cleared up (it's been about 3 weeks), but yesterday the two worst bite sites started itching again and have gone red and have a lump like another bite in the middle. Could anyone help me with this?
Avatar f tn There is no problem having these vaccinations while having hepatitis C. It is done all the time when patients are found to have hepatitis C, to prevent further damage to the liver from another hep A or B virus. Plus it just makes common sense. Who wants to get another form of hepatitis when there are simple vaccinations available to prevent it? Wish there was a vaccine for hep C.
