I don't have the flu, but I'm recovering from strep throat. My OB gave me antibiotics and told me to get a lot of rest and drink fluids. Antibiotics won't be any help to you, but you should be all right taking Tylenol for a fever. Ask your OB what you can take. Mine said Sudafed and Robitussin are ok, so ask about those. Feel better!
I get bronchitis all the time as well. I've had it and gone without antibiotics. It took me months to get rid of. The next time I got it, I did not want to suffer for months on end for no reason so I got antibiotics immediately. Trust me, it's not worth going without the meds, so get it checked out and get well.
ER doctors do not prescribe antibiotics for the flu, which is viral. They are treating you for a possible bacterial infection, which HIV is NOT.
It's possible the antibiotics are causing some negative side effects or they are not working against whatever possible bacterial infection you may have. If you do not feel better soon, or continue to feel worse and have a fever, I suggest you see your doctor for further testing, or return to the ER.

Unfortunately many doctors have overprescribed antibiotics and this has caused antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria, otherwise known as superbugs. It is not uncommon to experience severe body aches and weakness with the viral flu. In fact, this is the common indicator that you have a virus and not a bacterial infection. My two year old is scheduled to have her annual flu shot however she's on her 8th day of antibiotics for a cold she got last week. Can she receive the flu shot eventhough she's on medication or should I wait until she's done with her dosage.
I had the flu (a long with my husband and children) we were all really sick for about 5 days. Everyone got over it except for me. I don't feel like it is the flu now though. I have a horrible cough. So 5 days ago I went to the Urgent Care and Dr said probably pneumonia. She gave me antibiotics, prednisone, and albuterol. It has been 5 days. The fevers are just higher. They dont even get better with ibuprofen. I can't function. I have small kids. I feel to sick to drive to the doctor.
I have completed one round of oral antibiotics and am on my second and am feeling slightly better but not completely. I want to know if under my current circumstances it is safe for me to get my yearly flu vaccine as I have asthma and work in a hospital setting where I am at risk for exposure. If you got the flu shot you most likely have the flu I would go to hospital so they can test you because the flu is very contagious and your putting others at risk. If you can't keep fluids down that is harmful to your baby because it can cause dehydration. And is some cases the flu has been known to kill unborn baby. Just go to the doctors to see what is going on better be safe and find out early then to be sorry and find out if is the flu.
I have been sick for five days now constant fever, horrible cough, bodyaches, and stomach sourness. My fever reached 105.2 yesterday that is when I thought I should get to a doctor, my doctor was not working so I had to see a different one. He told me I most likely have a sinus infection? Why do I have burning in my stomach and constant nausia? The fever seems to slowly disappearing and the bodyaches as well, but this conitinuous sickness feeling is the hardest part.
When I was a in college, I contracted the Type A flu, and it was like it just never went away. It was really bad for about 6 months (I felt like I straight up had the flu), then my symptoms slowly disappeared over the next 1-2 years. One time it was the pack you take for like 4 days I believe and its because I had a virus/flu going on then the second time which was like 3-4weeks later I had amoxicillin because again I had came down with a cold but with an ear infection. I was suppose to stay on the amoxocillin for I think was like 10+ days but everytime I would take it I felt my baby move alot and just felt nasty so I ended up taking it for only 2-3 days. Which I got better.

Hot tea with honey is really good for sore throats. You can also have cough drops but any medicine you have to ask doctor first.

ht eitherad flu symptoms for a week now, pain in joints, backache, hot and cold, constantly getting in the bath to warm me up( its the only time i feel ok, though i know i shouldnt) ive no appetite and feel sick, my symptoms are not getting any better. Irang the doctor 3 days ago, who basically said, its going round, take paracetomol. ive been through 2 boxes now which i dont feel happy about but if i dont take them im in agony.
