antibiotics amoxicillin yeast infection

I was just put on amoxicillin for a dental infection. Both amoxicillin and the medication in your z-pack (I'm assuming that is what you are taking?) are both Pregnancy Category B and considered safe during pregnancy. I even specifically asked my Pharmacist and she assured me it is safe. Much better to treat the infection before it gets out of hand and you have to use a stronger (and possibly less safe) medication to address it.

Okay guys. I'm freaking out because I found out a 4 weeks I was pregnant, then at 5 I got strep throat. Dr. prescribed Amoxicillin and I took it. Now, looking back I'm really really afraid I may have hurt my baby (I'm 9 weeks now) I understand that I had to take it or it the strep could have hurt the baby. Now, to top it all off, I got a yeast infection from the antibiotics and I don't know what to do. I'm mortified at the idea of taking another medicine. HELP!!!!!!!!!!

wondered if u also get yeast infections...antibiotics can cause a flare up of a yeast infection...so do ask for DIFLUCAN to help prevent that issue altogether. Speaking with a Pharmacist may be the best help in knowing what meds would be best for u with the H.Pylori...it can be resistant to antibiotics...and can require a second round. Then, the antibiotics can kill off all teh good bacteria u need, so ask ur dr about taking a probiotic afterward.

About 3 weeks or so after stopping antibiotics (Amoxicillin and Biaxin) I developed a flat, red, and sometimes itchy rash on both breasts and my stomach. Sometimes I get shooting pains in my breasts. so talk to ur dr and be advised many can get a yeast infection form the antibiotics and DIFLUCAN is helpful in preventing that from happening. Plus, u may want to discuss using a probiotic as the antibiotics kill off the good bacteria needed for digestion.

I would also explain to the guy who gave you oral that it looks like you have a yeast infection from your antibiotics so he can be tested for an oral yeast infection. Go tomorrow, or as soon as you can, to the drug store. The sooner you get started on the treatment the better you'll feel. They also have a cream that will help with the itching and starts working really fast. It should be right next to the yeast infection treatments.
