Common Questions and Answers about Angiography complications

angiogram

Avatar f tn Another question doctor which is better for diagnose flourascen angiography or OCT angiography ?
Avatar n tn excessive bleeding at the site of the incision, infection at the incision site, allergic reaction to the contrast dye. Serious complications which are very rare occurrence include blood clots, stroke, kidney or blood vessel damage. It is best that you inform your doctor about this for proper evaluation. Additional diagnostic tests such as echocardiogram may be indicated. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn The angiogram also carries a 1 - 3% risk of complications, the most common risk, although very rare, is having an artery dissected during the procedure which results in emergency bypass surgery. Having said that, if I was told I needed one I would do it without hesitation. It is the gold standard of heart tests to determine if CAD is present.
Avatar f tn I had never heard of an epicardial ablation and nor have I ever heard of anyone talking about it on this site but I looked it up and got a medical study paper that talked a bit about the medial complications. There seems to be a bigger risk with this type of ablation so I would make sure you get stats from the EP you choose. The best I can tell from the literature is you would be possibly kept overnight to make sure there isn't any bleeding around the heart.
Avatar f tn My father had a minor heart attack 4 days ago was taken to emergency . They performed an angiography which detemernined he will need quadriple bypass surgery. His LAD had an 85 % stenosis . Circumflex with a 90 % stenosis .origin of the second OM has 60% stenosis and third OM had an 70 % stenosis. The doctor advised with the complexity of my fathers disease it is best to do bypass surgery. This is a genetic problem , both my grandparents also had heart problems.
Avatar f tn My Grandmother has been detected with a blockage in heart, and its not getting well by the use of medicines. Her Doctor is suggesting Angiography now. Her age is 81 by now. I wanted to take other Doctors opinion about this case.
Avatar f tn My father had heart attack 2 days ago.He reached hospital after 6 hrs. Angiography findings are as below. How severe is this..Doctors asking for CABG within 5 days of attack. Pl guide.Thanks. Left main coronary artery:normal LAD :calcified.ostial to distal lad shows 95% disffused disease.ostial D1 shows 70% stenosis. Ramus:ostal ramus show 80% stenosis. Mid segment 70% stenosis. Left circumflex artery:non dominant vessel.proximal LCx show 60% stenosis. OM show 50% stenosis.
Avatar m tn Troponin T and Troponin I are accurate and are only released by cardiac muscle. If elevated, then they usually suggest angiography because there is a very high possibility that MI has occurred. Troponin also remains elevated for up to 14 days. Should you go for Angiography? Given the results of the test, I think the question is really "is it worth the risk not to have angiography".
Avatar n tn But she was moving fine, until 2 weeks back she had Angina attack and we got her Angiography done yesterday which revealed that her one of the artery is blocked over 90% near the beginning. Docs recommend her to go for Stent implant. Now seeing her past history of ASD,and low platelets count. Would you recommend to go for it or not? Any risks involved in that?
Avatar f tn his surgeon asked him to go for an angiography.after the angiography the doctor said that the surgery didnt work and the blockege is there he needs a stent to fix it...The angioplasty didn't work and the stent slipped from the doctors hands.now the doctors are saying that he should undergo for bypass surgery again...What are the risks and complications of the second surgery. This discussion is related to Second bypass surgery risks.
Avatar n tn On the basis of this cardiologist advised to get CT coronary angiography. The result of the CT coronary angiography as given below: 1.Eccentric calcific in the RCA and distal LAD causing mild (20-30%) luminal narrowing. 2. No evidence of hypo perfusion or perfusion defects in the resting first pass myocardial enhancement. Now our cardiologists has advised to get catheter angiography to rule out further. Please advise me what should me my course of action.
Avatar n tn He was undergone a Treadmill test, a few weeks ago and the Doctor observed borderline positive Treadmill Test and suggested an Angiography. He undergone Angiography a couple of days ago and the report said that the Right Coronary Artery is 100% blocked. According to the Cardiologist, who performed Angiography, the blockage is old. But, my father has no pain (Angina), no fatigue and other common symptoms of Coronary Artery Disease. He’s perfectly alright.
Avatar n tn a) The cardiologist told her she needs to now go in for catheter angiography and that she could have a blockage or lesion. To be frank, he barely acknowledged our questions and wouldn't speak to the connection between myocardial perfusion and severe hypothyroidism. He told us we were "over-intellectualizing" when we tried to ask about the hypothyroidism as it related to the mild myocardial perfusion.
Avatar m tn Indications for Study The Patient was referred because of Ischemic heart disease Presented by unstable Angina. The Procedure was explained in detail to the patients. Risks, Complications and alternative treatnebts were reviewed. Written consent was obtained. Procedure: The patient was taken into the Cardiac Catherization Laboratory and Prepared in the usual Sterile fashion. Arterial access was obtained using the right femoral artery. A left heart cath was performed.
Avatar n tn An angiography will give the doctor a better look into what is going on inside of your heart and arteries. It is a tool used to diagnose, and give the doctor a picture of what needs to happen for your treatment. I hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Is it advisable to go for angiography check up as six years have passed post surgery? Are there any side effects after angiography? My physician has recommended Angiography check up as life of stent is normally 10 years .I shall be pleased to receive your recommendation and advise.
