Avatar f tn By Friday she would not eat anything and screamed if we tried to use the mouth wash on a cotton swab. We took her to the doctor that day. They were not sure and put her on Amoxil. It is now Sunday she is still screaming when we go near her tooth/gums and is bleeding at the touch of the cotton swab Her mother and I are worried and do not know what to do next. She has a follow up with the dentist on Wednesday this week. What should we do? Should the Amoxil be working if it is an infection?
9525685 tn?1410800512 I was given amoxil in hospital when I went into preterm labour. Im not sure what the dosage was tho. I know its a pretty strong but standard antibiotic that usually gives me a yeast infection! I'd wait and talk to your ob about anything you're not sure about but I have a feeling it will be ok.
Avatar f tn A friend had unprotected sex with a lady he had known for quite a while now, many days later he started discharge and experiencing acute penile itchiness. He took some Amoxil that was prescribed to him for a previous sinus infection, and the itchiness reduced drastically, the discharge stopped too. He thinks it's penile yeast infection, but I told him Amoxil makes yeast infection worse so it couldn't possibly be. He is too shy to go see a doctor. Can Amoxil cure yeast infection?
Avatar n tn 4) and TSH=0.783 (0.3-4.0), accordingly the pediatric endocrinologist of the hospital suggested reduction in terms of giving the dosage 5/7 days a week. Once more we desided to get another opinion. The new pediatric endocrinologist believed there is a high possibility of transient hypothyroidism (not that it matters) and suggested the continuation of dosage at 7/7 days with 25T4 tablets. The last blood test (same molecular lab) after a 2 week period showed the following values fT4= 1.99 (0.6-2.
Avatar n tn For ulcer treatment, Amoxil is combined with other medications. There are several dosage regimens available, and your doctor will choose the best one for you. If your kidneys are severely impaired or you are undergoing hemodialysis, the doctor may have to adjust your dosage accordingly. Children older than 3 months: Children weighing 88 pounds and over should follow the recommended adult dose schedule. Children weighing under 88 pounds will have their dosage determined by their weight.
Avatar m tn She wants to give 4 500mg pills taken at once and hour before my procedure. Not only am I afraid of the dosage, but endocarditis. Is this normal to take this much at once? Now I do fear this will mess with my heart.
Avatar n tn I have a one year old son that has had 3 ear infections since Jan. He was put on amoxil and had an allergic reaction so he has been taking omnicef. The Dr told us this week that the omnicef has not done anything and that he was going to give him a round of antibiotic shots. So far my son has had 2 of the 3 shots. My first question is how quickly do these shots work? My other question is: Is there some underlying problem that is causing these ear infections, something more serious?
Avatar n tn A child who takes 5 ml of the 250mg/5ml dose, for example, is receiving 250 mg of amoxicillin. The recommended pediatric dosage varies from 25 mg/kg per day to 45 mg/kg per day, depending on the underlying infection, according to Rx List. The suspension should be shaken well and measured with a marked measuring spoon to ensure that the right dose is given. Regular silverware should not be used to measure medication doses, warns Drugs.com.
Avatar n tn My son had been diagnosed with pneumonia 4 times in the past four months, as well as bronchiolitis in between. He has been treated with Rocephin, Azithromycin, and Amoxil. He has breathing treatments 4 times a day (pulmicort & xopenex) has had 2 episodes of cyanosis, and been hospitalized for low oxygen satuation, wheezing etc. His pediatrician tells me I shouldn't panic and that he has asthma. He is only 13 mos old!
Avatar n tn Hi, about a year ago I had a filling in my upper right molar that broke and was re-drilled and replaced with a large filling. It's the tooth that's 2nd from the back not including the wisdom tooth which i had removed 5 years ago. So, a year ago when I had it re-filled it was rather "sore" for a couple months, and I experienced and on and off low grade fever for many months as well.
Avatar m tn Those are safe for him at 1/2 human adult dose. Simethicone (the active ingredient in gas-x) also comes in a pediatric form. If you get the pediatric form dose to effect. Hiccups are due to spasms of the diaphragm, however and getting rid of gas may not be effective, but it is worth a try.

Avatar n tn We are in NC and fortunately have been referred to a great pediatric Endo at Duke. I have seen mention of Pediatric Endo at Texas Childrens Hospital (not sure how far that is for you). We will be starting medication as soon as our local pharmacy can get it in. I hope she responds well. I have been looking into the possibility of Thyroidectomy or Radioiodine Treatment if indicated.

Avatar m tn My husband was diagnosed with a condition called neurogenic cough. It has been described as a chronic cough where the nerve that provides sensation to the voicebox and is responsible for triggering the cough reflex has been injured, usually by a virus. When this happens, the nerve's level of sensitivity before it triggers the cough reflex becomes markedly reduced; in other words, it becomes hyper-sensitive.
Avatar n tn Is it normal to have all of these other issues so early on? Does anyone know a good pediatric endocrinologist in Tennessee?
Avatar f tn t remember) was inconclusive for tumors. She was then sent to a pediatric endocrinologist. The endocrinologist followed her for a year and could find no reason for elevated estrogen levels. Her levels did eventually drop to normal after time also. The endocrinologist then discharged her from his care, and he then moved. My question I have now, she suffers significantly with ADHD, and has days when short term memory is difficult for her.
Avatar f tn after a month her TSH was normal but FT4 and total t4 were high, so our doctor advised us to reduce her dosage to 12.5 mcg. she is 4 months old now, recent blood test done shows - TSH - 26.11 (normal 0.25- 5.0 ) Ft4 - 13.87 (normal 9.0-20) total t4 - 110.88 ( 60-120) our doctor told us continue with the 12.5 dosage, since ft4 and total t4 are normal not to worry about TSH.... we consulted another paediatric endocrinologist and he says to increase the dosage...
Avatar n tn I am having trouble finding out what is a safe maximum dosage of Diamox for psuedotumor cerebri. When I had asked my daughters neurologist this question, she said there is no maximum dosage which I found hard to believe that there wouldn't be a max dose on any medication. My daughter is 15 yrs old and had been prescribed a total of 2500 mg per day divided into 3 doses. Does anyone know the max dose for diamox? Thanks!
Avatar f tn t been feeling that great and the doc prescribed Prevacid at 30mg twice a day along with 1g of Amoxil and Biaxin. My H. Pylori test came back negative so I could stop the Amoxil and Biaxin. It might take a while but he tells me it will work. On the other hand, a friend of mine had severe reflux and the doc prescribed Protonix. It worked so well that they were able to get off of it and only use it when they feel a flare up coming on (every couple months).
Avatar n tn He has taken a multitude of oral antibiotics --Amoxil 875 Mg 2x day for 14 days, to straight penicillin, Rifampin 300 Mg 2x day for 10 days, Clindamycin. Nothing seems to rid him of these nodules or lower his ASO titer. Overall crummy feeling most of the time. Headaches, leg aches, joint aches, back ache, neck ache. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn I went to the doctor the other day because of post-nasal drip (followed by cold and sore throat on multiple ocassions), and she diagnosed me with sinus infection and put me on amoxicillin with clavulanic acid (875+125 dosage). However when the time came for me to take my pill, I realized I was unable to swallow it, even if I break it in half.
Avatar f tn Hi, I've had unprotected sex with one person I was dating only him and was under the impression he was also only dating me, we have since broken up because he is seeing someone else and I don't know how long she's been around for.
