Avatar f tn Today I took my 15 month old son to one of his regular checkups. His doctor had noticed some fluid in his left ear and said he had a small infection. I told her he had a cold and some congestion but I didn't know about his ear. She prescribed him Amoxicillin for his ear and told me something about the dosage. All I remember her saying is something about 1 tsp.
Avatar f tn I have been able to clear and heal the wound and have been dosing him with amoxicillin. He seems to have an allergy to this antibiotic as I have discovered hes been throwing up in the basement. This is the usual drug I use to treat abscess-type infections and I want to make sure the interior infection clears up. Is there a good alternative to amoxicillin for this type of infection?
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Amoxicillin a couple days ago for strep throat and an ear infection and when I opened the bottle to take it I noticed that it smelled bad. I don't know if it's normal or not so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I just got done with a prescription for 875 mg of amoxicillin twice a day for 10 days. Will that cure chlamydia and gonorrhea??
Avatar n tn I gave my cat amoxicillin and she started drooling instantly. I was foamy and clear and lasted for about 2 minutes. Is this normal or is it an allergic reaction?
Avatar n tn See if the Amoxicillin can be switched to liquid form and flavored. Nowadays, some children's medications can be flavored. Ask your pharmacist about this. The powder in those capsules are VERY bitter, so applesauce might not cover the taste very well. Check with your pharmacist and/or read the info that came with the medication to make sure you can even do this.
Avatar f tn So yesterday I went to the Dr for an ear infection and the Dr said it was pretty bad. He prescribed me amoxicillin 500mg 3 times a day for 10 days. He said it was safe but I am scared. I have called and left a message for my drs assistant. Waiting for a call back. Have any of you had to take this in this dossage?
Avatar n tn Hi there, Amoxicillin in the preferred antibiotic in dental infections. The usual adult dosage is 500 mg given every 6-8 hrly. The dosage may be increased or decreased depending on the severity of infection. If you are having a dental infection or cavity it is best to get it treated by a root canal before the problem aggravates. See a dentist. Take care and regards!
Avatar m tn I had to have a root canal redone as my previous dentist did not get the whole nerve and it became infected. The Dentist put me on amoxicillin 875mg twice a day, after 6 days I called him as it was having no effect. he then put me on clyndamycin 300mg twice a day, this is day two, it seemed better this morning and by this afternoon it isswelling slightly the tissue above my tooth is spongie again and I can tell it's filling with pus.
676912 tn?1332812551 The specific effects of an amoxicillin overdose will vary, depending on a number of factors, including the amoxicillin dosage and whether it was taken with any other medications or substances. Effects of an Amoxicillin Overdose A mild amoxicillin overdose probably will not cause any significant or lasting problems. However, a large overdose could affect the kidneys, possibly causing poor kidney function or even kidney failure.
Avatar n tn Amoxicillin is fine if it's the correct antibiotic. Dental infections can be from either an aerobic bacteria or anaerobic bacteria. Having the correct antibiotic is VERY important. I urge you to at least call your dentist for approval before you treat a dental abscess yourself. Amoxicillin may be fine, but you may need something like clindamycin instead. Also, it's very important that a FULL dose is taken for dental infections.
Avatar f tn my daughter tends to break out at random (she is 2) but the rashes / hives goes away after a couple of hours. We still have no idea what the allergy is. Now she was diagnosed with an ear infection yesterday, she didn't see her normal doctor because her normal doctor was out of town, which is fine, I know the other doctor. the doctor gave her amoxicillin for her ear infection.
Avatar m tn I went to the dentist 3 days ago she said there is nothing they can do until i finish antibiotic treatment so she prescribed to me 875mg of amoxicillin + 125mg of clavulanate EVERY 8 HOURS. I pretty much been in extreme tooth pain and to add to that every time i take this i get pretty bad stomach pain i describe it as the empty feeling you have when you don't eat anything but x10, so i did some searching and i could not find anywhere saying 875mg every 8 hours i only saw every 12 hours.
Avatar m tn The pain lessened but was still noticeable since beginning the antibiotic (amoxicillin). This morning I woke up with the pain mostly gone from the tooth; however, my jaw is now swollen with what feels like a hard lump and is sensitive to being touched. I am traveling for work and was wondering if I should seek emergency help.
Avatar f tn You might ask your doctor for a broad-spectrum antibiotic, also known as a 'z-pack': this usually takes care of nearly everything in just a few days.
Avatar f tn So my LLMD has me on the following medications: Amoxicillin, Clindamycin, and Capadex (for my stomach problems). My dosage of the antibiotics are very high and I will be taking it for about 2 months. He believes I may H pyelori as well as Lymes because of my reoccurring ulcers. I am getting a more sensitive test for h Pyelori as well. I am also taking or about to Amrix for muscle pain. Has anyone taken this?
Avatar m tn The biopsy came back negative, but showed chronic infection. I took Amoxicillin 1200mg liquid Bid for 10 days. I told my primary doctor about the encounters on 4/26. She said since I'm still healing from my surgery she would hold off on a throat culture. I am concerned, I'm almost two weeks post op and I still have some white coating scabs, my uvula is swollen, and my tongue is swollen.
Avatar m tn A couple of days after the occurance my friend (in medical school) gave me 3 Amoxicillin pills of 500mg. I took two one day and then another day took one. At about a week after exposure,, my friend gave me more of the same Amoxicillin 500mg pills. I took them every 8 hours until I ran out. I had 7 pills. I am really worried about Stds. What was my risk from the exposure? Also, did the Amoxicilin do anything if I indeed had acquired an STD from that exposure? Am I at risk of HIV?
Avatar m tn do you know what dosage? I have an unrelated sickness.
Avatar f tn When I was on the amoxicillin it was a 10 day dosage and I took it all. Also, the augmentin was a 10 day dosage. I am still having a lot of pain and can't figure out what's going on. :( Thanks for your answer though! Just really worried that I picked up something else from him.

702036 tn?1259539116 I was prescribed amoxicillin due to infection. I saw a post about it but it was way back in 2003. Would the antibiotic affect my tx outcome? I cannot talk to my hepatologist until Monday about that. Shall I wait or start it?
Avatar n tn In my opinion, the tiredness is probably related to this persistent infection and the anitbiotic. Are you following up with an ENT Specialist and/or an Allergist for this chronic/persistent sinus infection? This problem could also be allergy-related.
