The doctor told me it was most likely an abscess and wrote me a prescription for 250 mg of Amoxicillin (3x a day) and told me to get to a dentist the next day because she assumed they were going to want to lance/drain the infection.
I was able to see a dentist today and after an x-ray he determined extraction would be the best option for me since the decay extends under the bone.
A tooth infection should be treated appropriately to prevent spread of infection. The usually preferred antibiotics are amoxicillin, clindamycin, penicillins and metrogyl.Azithromycin may raise serum methadone levels and/or increase the effects of methadone. Fungal problems in the mouth are treated with antifungal gels for oral use like Dartarin. Eating natural yogurt will also help.
Make sure that you drink plenty of fluids and warm drinks, use pain relief medication as prescribed to relieve any pain. Gargling with salty water will also help. You can also purchase sprays from the pharmacist to numb the soreness in the throat.
m fine with, but to add to dealing with the pain, the amoxicillin gave me a yeast infection! So here I am, 30 weeks pregnant, mouth still aching, and a yeast infection to top it all off. This has not been my week at all!
My doctor just perscribed Amoxicillin to me for a bacterial infection in my leg. About a day later ( after taking 2 pills the previous day) my mouth feels dry and i have diahrea. I dont have trouble eating and no visible changes with my tongue. I've been taking the medication for about 5 days now and the symptoms are still continuing. Other than the dry mouth and diahrea, i feel fine.
The dentist first prescribed amoxicillin for the infection. It has been over ten days, and I have pain and swelling in my lower cheek. Four days after extraction I started feeling a salty taste in mouth. I went back to the dentist who diagnosed a gum infection to the side of the extraction site. I am on amoxicillin for a sinuse infection and am experiencing jaw pain and can hardly open my mouth. It' hurts to eat and the pain is also in my ear and runs down my neck. What does this mean?
So I had Strep Throat over the weekend. Seen my doctor and he put me on Amoxicillin. My strep cleared up for the most part (the white crap all over my throat). Throat is still sore and have ulcers in a few places around my mouth. Not to worried about that, what does worry me is now my gums are killing me. I cannot even tough them with a brush. No blood as of yet from them. Is this the last of the infection retreating?
I have an infected tooth which has to be extracted in the next few days but as of now I was prescribed 250 mg of Amoxicillin and have to take it 3 times a day. Since Wednesday I have taken seven doses and for the last few hours I've been experiencing and odd feeling in my mouth/on my tongue. I guess I'd say there's a slightly warm and numb feeling on my tongue. I wouldnt say it feels like a film is on my tongue, but maybe dry mouth? It's hard to describe.
Considering the proximity to my wedding day on that Saturday, 3/11 and subsequent trip to Ireland on Sunday (and with the area too inflamed for immediate action) the endodontist put me on a giant prescription of amoxicillin and scheduled me for a root canal re-treatment 2 weeks from today on March 28th (when I'm back in Boston).

A week ago I had a severe pain on that tooth and I started taking Amoxicillin 500mg as my dentist prescribed in case of infection when he opened it to clean the roots.The next day the part next to my nose got swollen but the pain has gone.After 5 days on Amoxicillin the swell is not visible but I can feel it when I open my mouth. The thing that get me worried is that slight pressure feeling on my cheek and the upper eyelid.
About a month ago I cracked a tooth. A week or so after the crack is swelled up pretty bad. I went to urgent care and the doctor games me 500mg of penicillin 4 times a day. The penicillin knocked out the swelling in a couple days and everything pretty much went back to normal. Last night the area swelled up again and even my law line started swelling. I could feel a large bump in my gum line which I'm guessing was the infection.
I've been taking amoxicillin for chlamydia for 5 days now with no relief. It's still very painfull everytime I urinate.
On day 5 now, I have an odd taste in my mouth all day. Is that normal when taking amoxicillin?
The antibiotics do take a little while to remove/clean the infection. It would probably take about 3 or more days for the infection to start clearing up. But the main cause of the pain is probably the nerve which needs to be removed. The treatment of a root canal takes care of that. Hope that helps some and hope you both feel better.
Sometimes, when an infection is occuring, and a medication is started for it, it is difficult to tell what is from the medication and what is from the infection itself. On the other hand, as you mention, some antibiotic allergies can be fatal. Discussion of your concerns with your physician is recommended, including whether or not to continue the antibiotic and whether or not you are having signs of allergy to amoxicillin.

Which I am sceptical because when I took Amoxicillin it was 1 a day pill for a week and as soon as i took it the bacteria was going away. Now I've taken Clindamycin like 5 times, because it's 1 pill ever 6 hours. There is 28 pills in total. But I don't see the bacteria fading, like the Amoxicillin.
And yesterday I had to have a tooth pulled, (My teeth seem to be falling apart.) And the dentist gave me amoxicillin for the infection and tramadol for the pain. Both say should not be taken in cases of liver problems. I am taking only half the dose he prescribed of the pain medication, and will stop it as soon as the pain stops. But the amoxicillin should be completely taken, to clear up the infection. What should I do? I don't want to cause any more damage to my liver!
