Hello Keepgoogling, I have worked around and with ammonia when I was younger while I was going to school. Ammonia has a very potent smell and can be quickly identified by most adults. I have never been told that I smell of ammonia. My wife has a very ultra sensitive nose and she would tell me if I smelled like ammonia. Right now I really don't think its ammonia but it could be a combination of different gases.

A routine urine examination along with a urine culture will be able to detect the problem. Drink plenty of fluids and water and see if that helps. hi, i was on effexor for 5 years and it does make you sweat alot, one of the many side effects of this med. i did'nt have the ammonia smell, that's something i've never heard of before. he should ask his dr. about this to find out what's going on. how is he doing otherwise on this med? is it helping his depression, is he having any other side effects? i hope you find out what's causing the ammonia smell. take care.

I've noticed that from time to time, but becoming more frequent, my urine has a strong ammonia smell. The color is fairly normal - clear to golden - but the smell is there! I just want to share with everyone who is currently smell like **** or known as PATM (People Allergy To Me) I know some have suffered almost entire of their life. It make people stress since no treatment can cure.. those PATMers spent thousands of money to buy suppliment or probiotic on the belief that it can cure. yes it do but they did not treat the root of the problem. thats why it works for some people and not to the other.

I tried it once, and I noticed a strong ammonia smell in my stool that got weaker and weaker over the course of a couple of days, so I think I might have had elevated levels of ammonia in my blood. It did nothing for my PATM, but it did make me feel a little better (clearer head).
