Ambien cr going generic

Common Questions and Answers about Ambien cr going generic

ambien

Avatar n tn Ambien (zolpiedem) helped me. It works quickly, doesn't give a morning hangover and is pretty cheap as it's available as a generic. I haven't tried the Ambien CR (time released, non-generic). Only thing about ambien is that, for me, I wake up after about 6 hours. But those 6 hours are pretty solid sleep.
739988 tn?1386672969 I feel for you, my doctor give me Zolpidem 10mg which is the generic for Ambien. There is also an Ambien CR. If you get it read the warnings carefully as its a very contravercial medicine. No not take at all if you are prone to sleepwalking! Safety first. I hope you get some much needed sleep. Sweet dreams.
Avatar n tn I have been taking 5mg of generic ambien for about 5 yrs. I take a pill every night. If not I am worthless during the day from lack of sleep. I know that this is discouraged but since I have to work, I have no choice.
1102799 tn?1269237714 Fairly soon my Ob-gyn switched me to Ambien CR 12 mg and this worked quite well (1/2 at night and 1/2 in the middle of the night) - I definitively prefer Ambien CR to regular Ambien. PS: be careful if you try to switch to Lunesta, a friend of mine did that and he started to sleepwalk!!
Avatar n tn Ambien CR does come in 12.5 mg -- I have some. the regular ambien does not, but ambien CR does. just clarification.
Avatar f tn I started taking Ambien & Prozac in Oct 2009. I started building a resistance so my doctor prescribed for me Restoril, that didn't work so she started me on Lunesta. After I started building a resistance to the Lunesta my doctor prescribed for me Ambien CR 12.5mg. It's now March 2010 and I need 4 or more Ambien CR to sleep. I can't sleep without it!!! I haven't taken the CR 12.5mg in 24hr and I have the common addiction symptoms.
763205 tn?1234422576 I have been taking Ambien/Ambien CR for several years now. I switched from the regular Ambien when the Ambien CR became available. Two nights ago I took my nightly migraine medications and my Ambien CR. I remember being awake for about 45 mins after that and then I remember nothing. Some how I was unconscience when I took 8 more Ambien CR 12.5 mg. I remember nothing after that. I went on a wild rampage in my room and destroyed everything in sight and I do mean everything.
763205 tn?1234422576 How many pills did you take after going back and counting the tablets? It's not uncommon for people who take ambien or Ambien Cr to not remember doing something. They fall asleep and don't know they're sleeping, so the end up taking more pills because they don't remember taking the 1st one and the cycle keeps on going. I've heard horror stories of people racking up credit cards, diving and cooking while on Ambien.
Avatar n tn which are written on the subject, and the association, or side effect of short term memory loss, while using, and apparently even after discontinuing Ambien CR 12.5 tablets! I've been taking Ambien 12.5 MG tablets, or its generic brother, " ZOLPIDEM TARTRATE 12.5 MG SA Tab" for a couple of years, for two problems; which are difficulty sleeping, primarily because of pain associated with my spinal cord injury, and likely anxiety.
Avatar f tn Then, 30 minutes before actually going to bed I give him Ambien CR. The regular Ambien was not working at all. Ambien CR on the other hand seems to calm him down and there has been less action. I also placed a body pillow between us and that seems to curtail some of the aggressiveness. It gives him less space to move around and I feel safer. Yes, he speaks while he is asleep, (more of gurgutal sound than words) but it has come down a bit.
Avatar f tn I had that situation with my Ambien. I was taking the Ambien CR, which was working quite well for me because I not only have trouble falling asleep, but also have trouble STAYING asleep, so the controlled release was a good fit for me. Anyway - they covered it for a while, but once a generic form came out for the regular Ambien, they stopped covering the CR and will now only cover the regular 5's or 10's.
Avatar f tn Then a visit to my PCP for the Orthostatic Hypotension and he told me to go off those two drugs and gave me a script of 3 days with 1 refill of Ambien CR to see how I would react to that. After the 3 nights I started sleeping 18 to 20 hours of a 24 hr. period plus felt completely out of it. A call back to him and he said he just didn't know why I was doing that and suggested I should talk to my psyche about it which he was supposed to have done.
Avatar n tn does anyone think that ambien cr will help with sleep while going through withdrawls???
Avatar n tn I was on the Ambien CR for a while and that actually seemed to help more, but unfortunately, my prescription insurance coverage stopped covering the CR, I'm guessing because that is the only Ambien formula that does not currently have a generic form. I have tried both Sonata and Lunesta also for sleep. The Sonata did absolutely nothing for me and the Lunesta gave me wicked hallucinations. My doctor also tried me on trazodone, but it had the opposite effect on me and made me super hyper.
Avatar m tn Ambien Cr. I've been off Methadone for two months now and still can't sleep. Actually I now fall asleep about 6am and wake up about 2pm. Totally screwed up. I plan on getting back on it. Its the best night sleep ever and it will knock you out for the night time withdrawals. It gets better, hang in there.
Avatar m tn i have been on clonazepam for many months and ambien cr i am having problems with thinking straight, and i believe it is the clonazepam not the ambien cr.
Avatar f tn If you use it to help with withdrawals such as insomnia, that's what it sounds like you asking, you're only substituting another drug in place of the other(s) . Then again, it's probably worked as a 'bridge' for some people to make the withdrawal easier. But as mentioned above, it is addicting and often just prolongs the process more.
Avatar m tn I started taking Alprazolem for anxiety 15 years ago. Since then I only take .5mg at night to help me relax and fall asleep. I now find the the 1 pill at night is not helping me sleep. So I started taking Ambien CR and stopped taking the Alprazolem. I'm sleeping great, but feel terrible in the morning. I feel nausea and tingling numbnest in my arm and face. Do you think its from the Ambien or from me stopping the alprazolem. Any advice?
Avatar f tn I may call my Dr about this generic brand. I did check into Walmart and they do not have the CR in generic. However, I am now feeling emotions I haven't felt in a long time. I cry at sad movies, enjoy going out more, have a little more energy and have kept the somewhat outgoing nature that I developed while taking them. I think I like these feelings!!
783281 tn?1259691431 I too have both trazodone and ambien cr- When I was going through the WDs i would switch off every other night- the ambien is def the best (would def keep me asleep for 7 hours) but out of fear of addiction to it I would take the trazodones every other night- they wouldn;t work as well- but they wouldn't make me feel any worse then I already did. My advice- use the ambien on a night you know you are going to need sleep....
1796524 tn?1315586487 Watch out for "CR", "XR" and "SR" versions of meds. As far as I know, only Wellbutrin "CR" and Effexor "XR" are superior than the originals. I was taking 6mg's of Klonopin/day for many years before swiching to Xanax, also 6mg's/day. I suffer severe anxiety, and although the K-pins were O.K., they took too long to work and didn't stop panic attacks.
Avatar m tn such as Ambien, Ambien CR, Lunesta, Temazapan and these are only a temporary aid that eventually no longer work. Initially stress was a main factor to my sleep disorder, however these days I don't feel it is. Over the past year I have noticed that I have become very forgetful, and have alot of difficulty comprehending. I have a professional career for many years and that I have done well with and am finding it very difficult to perform as of late.
Avatar f tn t said if he is taking Ambien or Ambien CR. The Ambien CR helped me MUCH more than the regular Ambien. Of course I never slept the whole night through but a few hours then I'd wake up about 2 but I was able to go back to sleep usually even if it was several times a night. Good luck, I've never been much of a good sleeper but if it gets that bad I would seek out a sleep clinic doctor place - he could have sleep apnea or something that is compounding the situation.
202665 tn?1248806733 I've had the same problem... there's a certain window of opportunity for the Ambien to take effect... and if you don't snatch it, then you can feel wired, but tired at the same time. you might want to have your doc prescribe the Ambien CR instead, it's a controlled release and I find that it works pretty well... Also, may want to try Lunesta, if the Ambien is no longer working for you... but those drugs are supposed to be for temporary use only...
Avatar m tn I can tell you from experience, both Ambien and Ambien CR are notorious for causing odd behavior. I had to quit taking Ambien CR after it stated causing anxiety and pacin attack issues. Regular Ambien caused my husband to rise an hour after going to sleep and go down to our garage and work on his bike until 3:30 AM, when I realized he wasn't in bed and found him downstairs asleep.
