Avatar n tn Swollen lymph nodes with no other symptom of an allergic reaction are rare but possible. What exactly has caused the lymph nodes to swell can be judged only by clinical examination and investigations like allergy testing to doxycycline,FNAC lymph nodes etc. I sincerely advise you to consult a physician and get this evaluated. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
Avatar m tn I had a severe allergic reaction to doxycycline. I end up in hospital for 2 weeks. It started as itchy rash and quickly spread agross,my body swell and skin blistered and all my skin peeled in the end. Took me months to recover. In hospital they didnt understand what was going on. The condition was called TEN (Toxic epidermal necrolysis). I was blessed to come out of it alive. Hope your wife is well!
Avatar n tn I have been a very "sickly" person the last 20 years or so. Constant bouts of pneumonia and bronchitis as well as mystery hives and infections on even the smallest paper cut. After sinus surgery I developed a Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection that seems to have colonized in my sinus'. I have a great number of environmental allergies and have learned that I am allergic to Keflex and sulfa drugs/antibiotics.
Avatar f tn t have this reaction, so my educated guess would be it is an allergic reaction and not a herx reaction. I am a person who seems to be allergic to a lot of things. My question is has anyone experienced a reaction like this so soon on an antibiotic and if so, is it an allergic reaction or is it a herx reaction? I am wondering if the doxy may have been killing off bacteria which then entered my bloodstream which resulted in an allergic reaction to the bacteria.
Avatar n tn Most of the time the chemicals in skunk spray are just plain irritating. Once in awhile a pet or person can have an allergic reaction to it. I found I can deal with one skunk at a time but didn't so well with 8 young and angry skunks that were brought in in a garbage can. My asthma flared up. Is your dog showing any signs of allergic reaction: swelling, difficulty breathing or swallowing? If so, I do hope you've taken him to the vet by now.
Avatar f tn And herpes absolutely would not cause the itching or rash you seem to be experiencing. The tining is perfect for an allergic reaction, and doxycycline is a drug that commonly causes allergic rashes. It could several days after the last dose -- maybe even a week or more. For the future, you should assume you are now allergic to doxycycline as well as other drugs of the came class (the tetracyclines, including minocycline and tetracycline itself).
Avatar n tn I suggest that you seek immediate consult at the ER just to have this assessed early in case this is an allergic reaction. Are there ay associated difficulty of breathing ,faintness, or rash ? An allergic reaction usually presents as a rash. In some however, palpitations and faintness may present without the rash. This may not require immediate intervention as you are ambulatory and coherent. An initial assessment will however be helpful.
740456 tn?1260449809 her eyes are runny, the sores (acne) are bleeding enough to make a bloody mess around the house. (there are also 2 other dogs in the house that are unnaffected) She is currently waiting to see a vet (she called about 45minutes after arriving at the clinic) and apparantly they dont have time to see her and this doesnt look like an emergency?!?!?!?!??!?!
4053971 tn?1349358842 If he had an allergic reaction to his food, and his lips are still swollen, then they are also itchy. Benedryl should alleviate the itchiness, and reduce the swelling. Call the vet and find out how much your dog weighed on his last visit. The typical dosage of Benedryl for dogs is usually 1mg per pound of dog. Given 3 or 4 times a day...ask your vet what he recommends. Be sure you get plain Benedryl...( without added decongestant )....
Avatar m tn same thing just happened to my 7 year old cocker! she went in for her shots came home and started pawing at her face and running around crazy, jumping, kicking at the carpeting. I called the vet and they said bring her back NOW! I brought her in and she already had facial swelling! She never had a reaction before! Then a week later her tummy and private area is covered in welts! It 's very hot to the touch, she is going crazy again.
Avatar f tn It sounds like your dog may be having an allergic reaction to something. The only sure way to tell what is happening is for you to take her to the vet. Unfortunately, pets cost a lot of money if you are going to keep them correctly, and if they need to be seen by a vet, you need to figure out a way to make it happen. Is there nobody you can borrow the money from? Do you have anything you can take to a pawn shop to get the money?
Avatar m tn Question: I am still experiencing an allergic reaction to intradermal allergy skin testing. I have joint pain in my shoulder on the arm where allergy testing occurred. My skin is warm to the touch over the area tested and the skin marks where injections were done are larger though less raised than after the initial test. What should I do? I have applied a prescription steroid cream. I have taken my normal antihistamine. I have taken benadryl on top of it.
Avatar m tn Is it safe to get Doxycycline 100mg on a long term basis? I am allergic to Wheat (i have not done allergy test but i noticed the last two year that after eating bread or pasta i get spots all over my head which turn into a rush-blood test showed that it is not fungus causing this reaction ) and the only thing that helps is this medicine. I would say it is a bit impossible to avoid wheat based food completely.
Avatar m tn I read the report that came from the biopsy and it said that they thought it was a allergic reaction to the Doxycycline as well, except for if it came back they would have to say it was Lichen planus. It has now been over 3 months since i have taken that medication, so i am convinced its not that. What is it? I hopefully am getting an appointment with dermatology soon, and is there anyway it could be linked to a brain lesion that was found on my temporal lobe, that some are saying could be MS?
Avatar m tn sounds like an allergic reaction to the penicillin. I too have an allergy to that, and that's similar to the symptoms I used to have while taking it. do you ever feel sick after it?
1754037 tn?1327886811 m the same way with my dog I developed an allergic reaction but it is winter here In Chicago and his winter coat is starting to come in! I still play and pet him as I would before but cut it short when I get allergic!
612551 tn?1450022175 Yes, we tried venison and fish (salmon) both with potato as a major ingredient and "no grain" - more or less, the prescription venisopn didn't in fact say "no grain". My problem was I didn't get the "Message".... i kept giving bits of this and that figuring just a little can't "hurt".. it never did in past dogs. I'm an old guy so a bit senile in addition to never having any such problems with dogs over the past 65 years.
Avatar m tn s an allergic reaction to my dogs. I have had dogs my whole life and never had any problems like this before. I swear I went to bed "normal" one night and woke up the next day with this stuff. I have had test after test and they can find nothing for this. I refuse to get rid of my dogs. They are too old and comfortable where they are, and i adore them, so I'll have to wait some time to see if that could of been it or not. Anyway, do you have pets?
Avatar m tn After googling allergic reaction i am so afraid of gettin an allergic reaction and going into anaphalctic shock its ruining my life because im always freaking out after i eat and the constant on edge. im 21, fit, pretty active, and sociable. i do have anxiety that comes and goes for months at a time. This food phobia has been going on for about 3 months, after every meal i just wait so nervously for a reaction because i feel that an allergic reaction is inevitable.
Avatar f tn 1 reaction to peanuts, and a 0.6 reaction to dogs and cats. I was not able to get an appointment with a specialist until OCTOBER 13th. However my son does attend day care, and I am very worried. I was told just to rush him to the ER if he had a reaction, and to avoid ALL peanut products . Does anyone know what a 2.1 reaction means?
Avatar m tn Cephalexin is an antibiotic used in dogs. It is most commonly prescribed after a surgery or to treat a bacterial infection, dermatological problems and urinary tract infections. Cephalexin for use in dogs is similar to the use of penicillin in humans. Significance Cephalexin is one of the most widely used antibiotics in dogs, according to VetInfo.com. It can be administered via capsule, tablet or in liquid form. To lessen side effects, have your dog take the medicine with food.
Avatar f tn t have any problems with cats or dogs due to an allergic reaction, however the dander itself may still pose a problem. If you have any carpet in your house (remove it!), the dander can build up there, and tends to stay for months to years even after losing the cat. Dust mites may be a problem from owning a pet, due to them living on pet dander, and these can trigger an allergic reaction.
Avatar m tn I think you need to contact your doctor about this now. You might be having an allergic reaction to the meds. Do not take another pill until you talk to your doctor. You will be ok if your doctor says its not an allergic reaction. The usual treatment for NGU is one week of doxy, so if you just start again after talking to your doctor, you will still end up with a full week of treatment. But its VERY important to call the doctor today. Yes, its a weekend, but someone is covering.
Avatar f tn January 25th I was diagnosed and treated for syphilis. I was under the impression that I was allergic to penicillin so I was treated with doxycycline for 28 because of my high titer 1:256 During that time I drank atleast 3 times a week because of depressed I was with this. I also threw up a few times. April 6th I went to my gyn told them my situation and was retested. Of course it came back positive my dr gave me more doxycycline for 2 weeks.
Avatar m tn It may not be an allergic reaction to Bactrim. It could just be the normal course of the infection. Normally, in cases where allergies are present, you will experience: hives ( raised red blotches, itchy or painful ) swelling of the tongue/ lips/ throat, dizziness, and many other symptoms. But you could be cautious next time you use sulfas. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
