Common Questions and Answers about Allegra otc launch

allegra

Avatar n tn Loratadine is considered a placebo by many doctors (and many patients that I have talked to). Zyrtec and Allegra are good choices. Since Allegra just came OTC, it will be much more expensive the Zyrtec generic. I take Zyrtec. Take care and feel better. God bless.
Avatar n tn He has done quite well with Allegra for seasonal allergies, and even better with Zyrtec. Zyrtec is OTC but allegra is not. Both are well tolerated with Risperdal. Benaadryl is not good with Risperdal. My son, age 17, is zonked out when he takes both. He basically is out like a light and doesn't wake up in the morning (until about 12 hours later) the few times he has taken it. Not good at all. Claritin does not work for him either, nor anyone in my family.
Avatar f tn I have seasonal allergies and was wondering the best OTC antihistamine would work better. Allegra, Zyrtec or loratadine. I was on 12.5 zoloft for 2 weeks and tapering up to 25 mg (split another 12.5 in half so 3/4 a pill then one whole 25 mg. I have to do this slowly as I am super sensitive to meds. Thanks for any help. Plus I eventually need to taper down my ativan when I level on the zoloft.
Avatar f tn my doctor said that clairitin and zyrtec are ok, but not allegra.
Avatar m tn I would try some OTC allergy meds like Claritin or Allegra. If you can afford to (sort of pricey at $20 for a 2 week supply) I would get Claritin-D or Allegra-D. They have an antihistamine as well as a decongestant. You have to get them from a pharmacist (behind the counter) and show your ID. I take Claritin-D daily for the same symptoms you have. I get bad headaches at night and my nose gets stuffed, with sneezing and runny eyes.
Avatar f tn Feburary 16th I woke up with a extremely painful earache and lost my ability to hear in my left ear. I went to a walk in clinic the following day for the Doctor to briefly look into my ear and said it was "buldging" she sent me home with Doxycycline and OTC Allegra and told me to come back in 3 days if there was no improvement.
1116122 tn?1268496794 Other than Zyrtec, are there allergy shots covered by insurance that I could take, or other allergy medications that are prescription? My insurance company stopped covering Allegra, which was perfect (bummer). Thanks for your help in advance.
Avatar f tn I took a 24 hr non drowsy generic brand of allegra before i was pregnant? Can i still take it? I really am having a tough time with allergies without any medicine.
450190 tn?1205509947 what is the best OTC med for allergies , I sneeze constantly , runny nose, itchy throat, itchy eyes, nose bothers
Avatar m tn Hi, I am 18 years old and I just came back from Costa Rica about 5 days ago when I realized my breasts and back were extremely itchy. I went to take a shower later that day and i noticed small flat bright pink dots COVERING my boobs. Like I said, I just got back from Costa Rica so it was hard to notice the dots on my arms and lower abdomine bc i was so tan but believe me, I could feel them and it bright light I could also see them.
Avatar f tn when I was between 15 and 23 (around there anyway) I used OTC allergy medication frequently as most if not all of my friends had cats and I was suffering badly seasonally. By frequently i mean almost daily for up to a month at a time in the spring and summer. I remember vividly (as i was at my cousins wedding outside) I took some medication and apparantly forgot I took it and double dosed. I felt quite tired/weird dizzy though this wedding so I obviously overdosed.
Avatar m tn i took allegra but, itching is not going. what is this and what should i do for it.
Avatar m tn Well I have had Hashimoto for the past 10 years, and I also have had allergy problems and have taken Allegra D for the past 4 years. I don't think allegra had anything to do with my hashimoto/hypothyroid.
8793709 tn?1409594060 I named my daughter Allegra. It's Italian for joyful....and it's also an OTC allergy med. BUT I have only had like 3 people make the joke. ...most people think it's beAutiful and unique. I happen to think Nirvana is a wonderful name.... but once in a while you'll get the Jokes.
1711722 tn?1356487554 t take anything without talking to your doctor but the allegra d was deemed ok by my dr and it is now OTC. I know it is ok with peg+riba+ and incivek. Hope this helps and hope you feel better soon!
Avatar n tn I've noticed with allergies, some OTC medications work and others don't. It depends on your body. Claritin doesn't do a thing for me, but it relieves my husband's allergy symptoms. So consider trying an OTC medcation and if that doesn't work... try another one. (welcome to the frustrating world of allergies!) If your sinuses are clogged, I would recommend a relatively inexpensive product that you can purchase at Walgreens.... NeilMed sinus rinse. Good luck !
304573 tn?1345577338 Has anyone heard if and when Teleprevir will Launch in the US? I am from Canada...............Was UND at the end of my treatment and Post TX...... have relapsed..........now have to wait for the new Meds in Canada to be approved.........I have a specialist that I will call............interesting..and cannot seem to get any straight answers about anything Thanks all!
Avatar f tn so my question is.. do i have to build up the allegra into my system for it to really work... i just found out i have had them for eight years.. so im sure my immune system is messed up since i never treated it.. i didnt know what i had....
Avatar m tn In the first place Zyrtec tends to make you drowsy and Allegra tends to perk you up. It would be pretty weird to take them together. I take Zyrtec daily and when my allergies act up I take a single dose of Benadryl which is short-acting. that works well for me.
Avatar f tn You can take OTC antihistaminics like benadryl or Claritin. Longer-acting antihistamines are available by prescription. They cause less drowsiness and can work just as well. These medications include fexofenadine (Allegra), and cetirizine (Zyrtec). You can also use nasal corticosteroid sprays like nasocort or flonase. Decongestants may also be helpful in reducing symptoms such as nasal congestion, but they should not be used for long periods.
Avatar f tn ve continued to use the netti pot and zyrtec or allegra OTC medication. Nothing is really helping. My eyes have been scratchy and there is draining/goop in them when I wake up in the morning. The drainage is progressively getting better, but it still continues. Does this sound like it is a sinus infection or just bad allergies?
1663704 tn?1302912377 I have had fluid behind my eardrum since September 2010. My physician looked and saw fluid behind my eardrum and said it's caused from allergies or sinuses. I do have allergies and postnasal drainage. I was prescribed Flonase for 30 days, which didn't work, then prescribed a 7 day steroid medication, this didn't help either. I have tried Allegra D, Mucinex D, Mucinex, Sudafed, Sudafed PE, Afrin, etc. I am currently trying Zyrtec.
Avatar n tn Allegra and Zyrtec both work pretty well for me, but honestly they don't solve my eye problems entirely. Get some replenishing eye drops to rid your eyes of irritants and keep them moisturized. Also, if you wear contacts, consider switching to glasses more often or getting a more gentle contact brand. Avoid gaudy makeup during the spring, and resist the urge to rub and touch your eyes.

I woke up this morning feeling fine. The zaps usually start late in the day and are not bad. Just to reassure everyone....I have a doctor appointment Monday morning at 9am!!! I will not, however, take another Paxil! Thanks for all you help and input..
