Hi! Congratulations! If you were my patient, I would advise you to take the absolute minimum medication that you can get away with during the first trimester especially. BUT having said that, Allegra is pregnancy category C which means that it CAN be used in pregnancy if the benefits out weigh the risks. Hope this helps!

I am almost 13 weeks pregnant and called my dr to see what i can take.... he called in a rx for Allegra for me( i have tried Claritan and this does NOT work)..... is this safe.... I know he probably would not have called it in for me if he thought that it wouldnt not be.... But i have done some research and its a class C drug during pregnancy...... any of you ladies taken allegra during pregnancy???

I have really bad allergies and can usually get away with just Zyrtec but this year they are way worse and my doc told me to switch it up and try Claritin or Allegra the Allegra seems to work the best when I also take a sudafed but don't take the combo one just plan Allegra and plain sudafed.

I was OK to take Allegra. Ask your Dr. But I know Allegra is safe as well as benadril. And claritain. When in doubt ask a Dr.

Allegra doesn't cause hypothyroidism. I myself take it and have for a while. In fact Allegra is the only allergy medication that I can take.

You might consider switching to allegra or zyrtec. Both are safe during pregnancy. Sleeping with a humidifier and drinking warm tea also helps me.

In the first place Zyrtec tends to make you drowsy and Allegra tends to perk you up. It would be pretty weird to take them together. I take Zyrtec daily and when my allergies act up I take a single dose of Benadryl which is short-acting. that works well for me.

I have quit Paxil cold-turkey 7 days ago. I read in a forum about using Allegra (an allergy med) to help the side effects. I have found that the Allegra really helps with the Zaps that occur. My problem is I don't want to take one in the afternoon, evening because they will keep me awake all night! Anybody got any night time ideas. I will not take another Paxil - I will put up with whatever licks I have to take. Any idea how long withdrawl symptoms will pop up. Do I have them all now?

Both Allegra and Zyrtec are 24 hour medications in my area. I have known several people who took 3 Zyrtec in one day, and my allergist says that you can't really OD on antihistimines. You should be sure to drink PLENTY of water and watch for signs of constipation and dehydration. You should make sure that your dr is well aware of how much of these meds you are taking to make sure that they are ok with any other medications you maybe taking.

My husband has started sleeping the guest room because I keep him up at night. I tend to go through a roll of toilet paper blowing my nose in two to three nights. I stay awake for one to three hours at night trying to breath, blowing my nose, and trying to fall back asleep. I stay congested all day only with relief of an about two hours after taking sudafed. My question is....do any of you know of anything I can ask my OB to prescribe me?

My doctor also told me some of the newer meds (Allegra or zyrtec, can't remember which or if it was both now) was OK too. Might just ring them up and ask if you're having a hard time.

Loratadine is considered a placebo by many doctors (and many patients that I have talked to). Zyrtec and Allegra are good choices. Since Allegra just came OTC, it will be much more expensive the Zyrtec generic. I take Zyrtec. Take care and feel better. God bless.

Something alarming happened today. I took two allergy pills around 10:00pm. Around 12 pm I had a baowel movement. The stool looked... fluffy. Not diareah (-sp?) like, but spongy. There were two white things floating. When I looked closer I realized they were the allergy pills I took. It was Allegra D. Could this be the reason they haven't been working like they used to? I mean, they hardly looked like the outer coating was gone. Should I go to the doctor? Be alarmed? That was kinda freaky.

I'm about giving up. I cannot breath. Can I take zyrtec, claritin or allegra.

I would sit tight till they open. These are such new drugs and only your Dr can give you the green light. You don't want to risk SVR unless you know for sure. .....

I tried just general Benadryl and had the same reaction. Red face hard to breath through the nose. I was recently prescribed Allegra and am nervous to take it as it looks like it has a lot of the same medication as benadryl but stronger. Are these medications the same? Now coming to your question, 35% of patients get totally free of the symptoms in one year. In other 30% symptoms will reduce. Rest of the pateints it continues. But you need to take necessary precautions. I suggest you to consult to a skin specialist/ immunologist for further steps of management. Take care and regards.

I would like to know what would be a good allergy medicine that can be taken with risperdal. I have given my son benadryal in the past and he would become calm but since the risperdal he gets very hyper and stays up all night. My son has seasonal allergies. I have given him claritin and it does not work. Thank you for any advice you can give.

I'd be interested to know what input you get about this. I have been having what seem to be allergy episodes -- nasal congestion, watery eyes, clear mucous -- for a day or 2, then it's gone. I don't use decongestants as I have a history of Afib, pac's & pat. My first episode, I woke up with Afib and ending up needing to be electro-converted. I am abut ready to see an allergist, as I can't identify a trigger. Is the omeprazole a proton pump inhibitor for reflux?

My doctor told me that zyrtec and claritin are ok but not allegra. If you perfer natural remedies, chamomile tea, vapor rub, hot chicken broth with a little cheyenne, lots of fruits and veggies-especially vitamin c. Netti pots work great for sinus problems, just make sure to use distilled water.

I use zyertec and benadryl. My doctor has said they are both safe. Check with your doctor they should have an approved list of meds you can take.

I did have Mono in 1989. The reason for the EBV tests was because of my complaint of fatigue. I was told the EBV Early Antigen AB, IgG test was ok even though it was flagged as "High" because of the mono infection I had back in the late 80s. Is this correct?
