Avatar n tn ME TOO!!! I have battled the PND for years.I have to be really careful not to catch a cold because it can last months and months due to the wonderful enviroment my PND has provided. I would agree that psuedoephidrine is great for drying up and alleviating cough but now available only on script. The TCM equivalent is Ephedra.I have also had some success with clearing the sinuses with acupuncture. It is also definitly worth stopping both dairy and gluten products in the diet .
Avatar f tn Hi, the other causes for long term cough besides asthma are GERD and post nasal drip from allergies. GERD is gastro esophageal reflux disease where the stomach acids come back into the esophagus and spill into the windpipe causing cough. Treatment with antacids will help neutralize the acids. Post nasal drips can occur with sinusitis and throat infections. Giving up cigarettes will abolish smoker's cough in 90% of people.
Avatar m tn Hello, What you seem to be having is chronic post nasal drip. Post-nasal drip is mucus accumulation in the back of the nose and throat leading to, or giving the sensation of, mucus dripping downward from the back of the nose. Post-nasal drip can be caused by excessive or thick secretions, or impairment in the normal clearance of mucus from the nose and throat.
Avatar f tn Hello, What you have is chronic post nasal drip. Post-nasal drip (PND) occurs when excessive mucus is produced by the sinuses. The excess mucus accumulates in the throat or back of the nose. It can be caused by rhinitis, sinusitis, or laryngopharyngeal acid reflux. It can be enhanced or sometimes even caused by allergies. Please check out with an ENT specialist if you are having chronic rhinitis or sinusitis.

Avatar f tn ve had nonstop post nasal drip. Now my jaws top and bottom get achy at times and It sometimes travels down my neck. My throat feels irritated and when I eat it feels like a lump or tight. The thyroid is not causing this. I started Flonase a few days ago and Allegra. My question is should I be worried that it's throat cancer or something serious. I would think having 2 thyroid ultrasounds something would be seen. Also no swollen glands or lymph nodes. I'm scared to death.
Avatar f tn I know that not a lot of doctors recommend getting surgery to remove a mucus retention cyst, but I feel like it is contributing to the problem. I have more post nasal drip on my left side (I can actually see it dripping in the back of my throat), the lining on the inside of my left nostril seems to be more swollen than the right, and this is VERY strange, but I've been experiencing severe tingling on my left chest area.I have occasional headaches and I feel tired all the time.
345124 tn?1234483278 postnasal drip, nasal congestion, phlegm, crackling in my eustachian tubes when i swallow and when im chewing food, tinnitus, occasional headaches, ear pressure(like im in a plane), a painless but spooky sensation that the inside of my head behind my face, above my eyes and on top of my head is inflated or expanding, and of course the worst:dizziness.
Avatar m tn t really help much. My friend is a doctor so he thought it was post nasal drip, without seeing her he had her try Flonase. It seemed like she could be on extending non-coughing periods but she still does it. Now it's getting annoying and we have a baby on the way and it's making me feel uncomfortable to think she will be handling the baby. She doesn't speak well enough to tell me all of the symptoms. But from what I observed she's not sneezing a lot.
Avatar n tn The symptoms are the worst in the morning, which made me consider that most of it is due to post nasal drip, but I have taken every medication I could think of (benadryl, sudafed, allegra, nyquil, etc) to try to stop it. I am on both allegra and singulair for allergies. I have been consistently taking ibuprofen, mucinex, sudafed, and acetaminophen as needed. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Avatar n tn I have post nasal drip and also an upset stomach a lot of the time. When my stomach is sick, the only way to help it feel better is to eat. But then that doesn't last too long. Do you think my upset stomach is de to the dripping? What do you think is the best remedy for this? Thank you - This discussion is related to HELP!! Can Chronic Post Nasal Drip Cause Stomach Problems? Can allergy symptoms change?.
Avatar m tn I had post nasal drip for almost 3 weeks. My nose was not runny nor did I feel stuffed up, I now have a mild sore throat no more drip, but phlem and it's clear also the bumps on the back of my tongue appear to be raised on both sides but one side a little more than the other. Does this sound like a sinus infection?
345124 tn?1234483278 i finally saw a doctor today after a year of sinus and eustachian tube symptoms and off and on dizziness. mostly it was the spooky dizziness that made me want to see a doctor.
Avatar f tn Does anyone suffer from chronic post nasal drip? If so, what have you found that helps? I have had it for yrs. Yrs ago before my surgery my PCP did a ct scan to check bc i had chronic sinus infections. Everything came back normal. My NS said my surgery may help my sinus problems. It hasnt. Zyrtec, benedryl, OTC sinus meds - nothing helps or relieves it. I vomit a lot and think the PND is the cause of some of it. Terrible gag reflex too.
Avatar m tn However, a couple of weeks ago, I have realised that I have been experiencing post nasal drip. I am not sure if it is caused by the dry mouth, or if the dry mouth is causing it. Regardless, if I don't swallow frequently, mucus builds up at the back of my throat. I cannot seem to spit it out, and I have to swallow it. Also, if I talk for too long, or go without drinking water for too long, my tongue dries up.
Avatar m tn could this be post nasal drip?
Avatar f tn Many things can help post nasal drip. you an try OTC decongestants, antihistamines and mucus thinning agents. if it continues I would take russtoo's advice and see your doctor or ENT. Also drink lots of fluids but not caffeinated.

1279667 tn?1271215635 I thank you for all the information you've given on post nasal drip, but my doctor does not think that is what my issue is. Like post nasal drip, it IS worse at night. I cannot drink anything cold. I have become violently lactose intolerant, and my symptoms are worse after eating. I cannot use a nasal spray. At the same time all this started, I also started suffering from panic attacks.
Avatar m tn He said my nose is swollen and they also did a throat swab which detected no bacterial infection. I am wondering if my post nasal drip is caused by just inflammation of the nose due to any other reasons. The only one i have been able to come up with is picking my nose too roughly? Also its been 8 days since the problem first started or the symptom appeared. I dont have a stuffy nose in the day no itchy eyes, and the drainage is not very bad. Im wondering how long before this will clear up.
Avatar n tn I have had post-nasal drip/chronic sinusitis/chronic bronchitis for all my very long life. I used to get 2 or three coughs a year that lasted for weeks, sometimes ending in pleurisy. I went to doctors, and eventually had to diagnose my problem myself: my sinuses were dripping down my throat and becoming infected and causing the cough. Eventually I had a CTscan of my sinuses and the official diagnosis: Chronic sinusitis.
Avatar f tn Hi, I went to the clinic few days ago and the doc said that I might have post nasal drip because I spit out mucus, stuffy nose,cough,sneeze,....He gave me a nasal spray and said that if it doesn't work come back for allergy testing. How long would it take for this medication to work ? and if this medication doesn't work how many weeks or months should I wait to see the doc ? 850029 tn?1238857820 Does anyone have any good home remedies for post nasal drip? I'm dying here:( I've had it for two days and its driving me nuts. Typically is that a symptom of a sinus infection?
