Avatar m tn I am in the middle of an investigation where I turned my ex husband in for Domestic Violence. He pulled a gun on me and he is in Law Enforcement. My mom does not believe me. She said she will not support me until she hears the story from everyone who was present. How can I get her to see I am telling the truth? I am in counseling but it hurts that she is not there for me.
404138 tn?1308941656 I am not a professional, but I have worked many years with women dealing with domestic violence. I just want you to know that nobody has a right to touch you without your permission. I also want you to know that there are many women and girls who have been the victims of domestic violence. You are not alone in this. Part of healing is beginning to tell your story to somebody you trust, who is truly able to give you good advice and protection.
Avatar f tn When violence, or the threat of violence is involved, your best help is from the police. Once they safely remove him you can go about leaving. Your best bet might be a battered women's shelter.

501205 tn?1227345442 I dont know if anyone knows about it but it is about the affects of alcohol and domestic violence on this tribal family living in New Zealand. Our counselor is from a reservation and said that the kinds of abuse shown in this movie were common where she grew up. The violence in this film is so horrific and sickening some people walked out of the room and didnt come back. I saw it in school years ago but I hadnt realized that it dealt so much with alcoholism.
Avatar f tn My partner and I have been together for 4 years. Our relationship started out almost like a fairytale, then turned into a nightmare. There was a lot of domestic violence, and he's now in prison for it. He's not serving a very long sentence as I've stood by him, withdrawing statements and trying to get him out of trouble basically. Due to the violence and stuff, no one in my family knew I was seeing him, and I didn't talk to his family either.
Avatar f tn You should absolutely not doubt yourself! You most certainly did the right thing for you and your baby! I m so sorry and I can't imagine how scary it must be to be in a situation like that. You should stay away from him for good. Even if he says that he will change and he wants you back, things might be better at first, but for how long? If he thinks that behavior is acceptable then he is sorely mistaken.
1530342 tn?1405016490 I'm now excusing or condoning Domestic Violence......I do have to agree with her a lil when she says women should make better choices. I do understand that once in a situation like domestic abuse, it's easier said than done to leave due to fear, mental abuse etc......Now don't rip me a new one for this. I just kind of agree...
Avatar f tn ) The Coalition Against Domestic Violence told the website that domestic violence in front of a child under the age of 14 in that state can result in felony charges. Law enforcement in Indiana confirmed to HollywoodLife.com that the charges are a possibility in Portwood's case. But that's not all. The Indiana Department of Child Services is also investigating the situation. The DCS told HollywoodLife.
Avatar f tn My boyfriend and father to my child smashed in my windshield and is currently in jail for domestic violence and criminal mischief. My emotions are going crazy right now and its ridiculous how painful this is for me. I miss my boyfriend and I just want our happy little family to become reality but I just don't know what to think anymore. If anyone has advice it'd be appreciated...
Avatar f tn There is a warrant out for my bd on a domestic violence charge I put on him almost 2 months ago. I honest to God am scared to let him anywhere near my child. Although I don't want to take my son away from his dad but there is something seriously wrong with him for him to be able to treat me how he has with our baby growing in me. I just feel like he really doesn't care about him and will be very careless.
Avatar f tn My sister in law had her kids taken away because of domestic violence. She fought for them for 2 years and she's finally going to get them back in two months. Well she plans on moving out to a bigger house before her kids are back home and well I have to go with her. I live with my mother in law, sister in law, and my boyfriend.
Avatar m tn Divorced from reality By MINDELLE JACOBS ***@**** I inadvertently stoked the ever-simmering gender war last week when comments I reported from a domestic violence conference unleashed a fusillade of male outrage. From California to Massachusetts, American men flayed me for painting a picture of male abuse while ignoring the flip side - that women are also perpetrators. Canadian ex-husbands and fathers also poured out their wrath.
Avatar f tn Don't put yourself in a situation that you can't handle!!! You want to hit like your a man get hit back like a man. I don't condone violence at all. I am a survivor of domestic abuse. Keep your hands to yourself. If you can't do that prepare yourself to get hit back.

Avatar f tn Some women say that emotional abuse almost feels worse than physical abuse because if they were physically abused and had bruises and broken bones, at least everyone could SEE them and it would be more obvious. But the fact is that Emotional Abuse is still abuse. Does he only yell or does he do other things too that don't technically cross the line into physical abuse but make you feel scared or controlled?
