I have been taking a baby aspirin for some years and subsequently had a stroke/ruptured aneurysm and TIA recently. The doctor prescribed Aggrenox and I take it twice a day.

I was put on Aggrenox/Aspirin after my stroke about 2 months ago. Does anyone on the same treatment take any kind of Vitamins/Herbs with this medication?

iv noticed after my last stroke that iv had an extrem amount of leg pain anyone else?

Hi Linda, The lupus anticoagulants usually interfere with blood clotting and are also factors for thrombosis. Patients with a lupus anticoagulant are prone to excess bleeding, repeated miscarriages, thrombosis and strokes. Patients with a lupus anticoagulant that presents atleast twice and a history of thrombosis should be given indefinite treatment with anticoagulants. Thrombosis can be prevented with heparin administration and treated with heparin and warfarin.

5 days after this angiogram, I went to cardio rehab and worked out pretty good on the treadmill. That night I had a mild stroke affecting the left arm and leg. Some weaknes and loss of dexterity in both but I am told it is mild, although frustrating. they did not find the cause. I wonder what it was and if it could be connected to the angiogram knocking something loose then, when I exercied, maybe it came all the way lose and went to the brain? any thoughts?

My mother in law had a stroke back at the beginning of March. She has severe arthritis in one knee in particular and has difficulty rehabbing because the knee fills with blood due to the arthritis and she cannot get to the point of standing to do the therapy. The coumadin has left her depressed, dizzy, cold and overall loss of appetite. She wants to recover but this drug is very difficult. It comes to the point of quality of life...

Does anyone know what to take for an alternative to Aggrenox? I had a TIA almost 4 years ago and was put on Aggrenox, well, my husband will be losing his job in a week due to the economy which also means we will be losing our health insurance as well. I asked my doctor if he could take me off it and put me on something else and all he said was he would prefer I stayed on Aggrenox. I don't think we can afford it because it is $305 for a month supply!

Aggrenox does have aspirin in it. It is recommended for strokes, as you already know. I'm not sure why the Dr has taken away the Aggrenox. Maybe he feels that taking aspirin is equivalent with less side effects? Aspirin does work well to help prevent stokes and heart attacks. So, there was no reason given for the change?

What is causing chronic, severe itching since my father's stroke? --ischemic stroke, right side brain, left side paralysis. My 80 yr old father had a stroke 4 months ago. About 1-1/2 months ago he started experiencing mild itching on his legs and has now become chronic all over his body. Most of his meds have rash and itching side effects. Aggrenox was just changed to Plavix, but the itching has not stopped. 325mg of aspirin is also a future consideration as a blood thinner.

THEY ALSO TOLD HIM IF AND WHEN HE HAS A STROKE THAT IT WOULD NOT BE A MILD ONE. SO MY QUESTION IS TO YOU IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE HE CAN DO TO HELP HIS SITUATION. YES HE DOES SMOKE AND I KNOW THAT WOULD HELP IF HE STOPPED BUT I DONT THINK HE IS LISTENING. BUT HE DOES EAT RIGHT AND HIS CHOLESTEROL IS REALLY GOOD THE DR.SAID THAT WAS SHOCKING.

I was 2 1/2 years past my firt stroke and working out 5 days a week. My second stroke was a total suprise to me & my doctor. By God's Grace I'm doing good. My question is does intense exercise put you at more risk?

Stroke and sleep disturbances are commonly found together. I was wondering if anyone out there may have or have had the same condition and what the general prognosis may be for recovery. I am currently taking AGGRENOX, ZOCOR, B12 COMPLEXI, FISH OIL. I do strength training every other day and cardio training on the other days. BP is a little high 145/75. Heart rate 55-60. Any feedback would b e greatly appreciated.

I am 49 and have the following congenital heart defects: PFO, ASA, MVP and normally have hypertension controlled with norvasc and triamterene. Have had several TIA's and a major stroke at 46 due to PFO and ASA and have been taking Aggrenox and Simvastatin since the event.

I too have been diagnosed with interatrial septal aneurysm. I started having fainting episodes, dizzy spells, chest pains, and numbness in my left arm. It was very sudden onset, with a fainting spell first, followed over the next few days with increasing lightheadedness and chest pains. During the echo they found the interatrial septal aneurysm with patent foramen ovale. My doctor too began by saying it was nothing really to worry about. It is correlated with an increased risk of early stroke.

to Mayo and with all saying the same its still not sinking into this head... there is no fix... He has been sent home on a blood thinner (aggrenox) as to not thin the blood to much... With a healthy heart pumping against a 20% opening (when last tested)... So at night he is on oxgen to slow down the heart at night, for the heart pumps harder as ones breathing slows as we sleep... We live 30 mins from the closest hospital which isn't set up to handle this so life fight is another step...

I take 16 or 17 medications including the all inclusive plavix. a 3.25 aspiriin. AGGRENOX,Zocor,and a host of others.I watch my diet and exercise until it hurts to prove to my Dr. that I'm not just lying around. With your "scientific ' MINDS can you help?

In June '08 I was sitting watching TV when my left side from my head down to my leg became stiff and numb. Went to the ER and checked by 5 neuronogists, had scans, MRI & other tests. Their consensus was a brain event in the rt. thalemus. For 2 & 1/2 yrs I was living with a 5 out of 10 sensation but last Dec. '10 as I was having dinner, the sensation became worse like an 8 out of 10 and I'm having increased trouble moving my whole left side.

you MUST contact your prescribing dr to get approval to stop this medication. Aggrenox, Plavix, and Aspirin must be discontinued for 7 days prior to injection and Ticlid 14 days prior to injection. Coumadin should be discontinued 3-4 days prior to injection and you will need to have blood work completed within 24 hours prior to procedure. drink 1-2 full cups water 60 minutes prior to injection. eat a LIGHT meal.

m on both of those meds, along with aggrenox, But I got caught up in looking for numbness when so many people died in my family, it's my own fault. It's my own wicked web I weave. I'm originally from Mich I'm just afraid of what he will say I like & respect him a lot & he did not overprescribe, so I'm already anxious tapering. 125mg per day, Aspirin 325mg per day, Aggrenox 1000 mg twice a day, Isosorbide 30mg 3 times a day, Enalpril 10mg per day. I have been fighting this heart and neurological problem for 10 years now and am now going into A-Fib at least twice a day for the past month. My Doctors have said there is nothing left to do.

I had what they call a stroke - it was caused by burst aneurisms in my brain. It took 9 surgeries and finally a shunt in my head. That was September. What I want to know is, is it 'normal' to feel pressure and sometimes a 'giddy' feeling? Apparently my brain will take at least a year to 'heal'. Husband woke up with dizziness, vertigo, vomiting at 3 AM last week. Cardiologist switched BP meds and B/P going down well on that now.He' still very fatigued, difficulty with spacial perception, walking etc...The Nuero Doc can't see him till May 1st. I had a left cerebellar stroke in oct of 2007. I am 20 years old. They said it happened because of birth control and smoking. I really want to have another baby, but I am worried about what could happen. I have a 2 year old, and that pregnancy went perfect!! But I am worried about having another one. I have left side weakness when i dont get enough sleep, and i still have tingling in my left arm, but i take aspirin every day and check my blood pressure and it stays low.

That time her bllod sugar was 224.That time they gave her insuline as well. Is it stroke or any ather condition? Before that she was fine walks around no problem climbing staircase. Is any body know what is this?
