Aggrenox labs

Common Questions and Answers about Aggrenox labs

aggrenox

Avatar f tn Does anyone know what to take for an alternative to Aggrenox? I had a TIA almost 4 years ago and was put on Aggrenox, well, my husband will be losing his job in a week due to the economy which also means we will be losing our health insurance as well. I asked my doctor if he could take me off it and put me on something else and all he said was he would prefer I stayed on Aggrenox. I don't think we can afford it because it is $305 for a month supply!
Avatar n tn Aggrenox does have aspirin in it. It is recommended for strokes, as you already know. I'm not sure why the Dr has taken away the Aggrenox. Maybe he feels that taking aspirin is equivalent with less side effects? Aspirin does work well to help prevent stokes and heart attacks. So, there was no reason given for the change?
Avatar f tn I was put on Aggrenox/Aspirin after my stroke about 2 months ago. Does anyone on the same treatment take any kind of Vitamins/Herbs with this medication?
1013028 tn?1250923267 Hi Linda, The lupus anticoagulants usually interfere with blood clotting and are also factors for thrombosis. Patients with a lupus anticoagulant are prone to excess bleeding, repeated miscarriages, thrombosis and strokes. Patients with a lupus anticoagulant that presents atleast twice and a history of thrombosis should be given indefinite treatment with anticoagulants. Thrombosis can be prevented with heparin administration and treated with heparin and warfarin.
Avatar n tn Does anyone take vitamins/herbs with aggrenox and aspirin?
1213000 tn?1280463161 any thoughts? Should I be afraid of cardio exercise? should I have LDL aphreses? NOw on Aggrenox and off Effient but on all the other same meds Additional info: Since Jan, I quit smoking, lost 45 lbs, lowered LDL by 300 points (to 127) and raised HDL by 25 pts(to 40) lowered triglic to 70. what the heck?
Avatar f tn I've found that Aggrenox seems to work without side effects. It's primarily baby aspirin, but also contains a drug that prevents platelets from sticking together. I've taken it twice a day since my stroke, and it appears to work, but who ever knows?
Avatar n tn to Mayo and with all saying the same its still not sinking into this head... there is no fix... He has been sent home on a blood thinner (aggrenox) as to not thin the blood to much... With a healthy heart pumping against a 20% opening (when last tested)... So at night he is on oxgen to slow down the heart at night, for the heart pumps harder as ones breathing slows as we sleep... We live 30 mins from the closest hospital which isn't set up to handle this so life fight is another step...
Avatar m tn I take 16 or 17 medications including the all inclusive plavix. a 3.25 aspiriin. AGGRENOX,Zocor, and a host of others.I watch my diet and exercise until it hurts to prove to my Dr. that I'm not just lying around. With your "scientific ' MINDS can you help?
Avatar n tn In June '08 I was sitting watching TV when my left side from my head down to my leg became stiff and numb. Went to the ER and checked by 5 neuronogists, had scans, MRI & other tests. Their consensus was a brain event in the rt. thalemus. For 2 & 1/2 yrs I was living with a 5 out of 10 sensation but last Dec. '10 as I was having dinner, the sensation became worse like an 8 out of 10 and I'm having increased trouble moving my whole left side.
Avatar n tn you MUST contact your prescribing dr to get approval to stop this medication. Aggrenox, Plavix, and Aspirin must be discontinued for 7 days prior to injection and Ticlid 14 days prior to injection. Coumadin should be discontinued 3-4 days prior to injection and you will need to have blood work completed within 24 hours prior to procedure. drink 1-2 full cups water 60 minutes prior to injection. eat a LIGHT meal.
469014 tn?1207171512 I went through a very similiar situation with my father 12 years ago, but we found out about it because he had a stroke. He was 100% blocked on the right hand side and 95% blocked on the left hand side. Like your father, his arteries in the back are also blocked at about 80%. I remember the surgeon said that the arteries in the back of the neck carry a 20% mortality rate in order for them to be repaired. They put him on medication to control the situation.
Avatar f tn About 1-1/2 months ago he started experiencing mild itching on his legs and has now become chronic all over his body. Most of his meds have rash and itching side effects. Aggrenox was just changed to Plavix, but the itching has not stopped. 325mg of aspirin is also a future consideration as a blood thinner. He was given Ativan 0.5mg two days ago to stop the itching. The first night he practically scratched two wholes in his paralyzed arm.
Avatar f tn m on both of those meds, along with aggrenox, But I got caught up in looking for numbness when so many people died in my family, it's my own fault. It's my own wicked web I weave. I'm originally from Mich I'm just afraid of what he will say I like & respect him a lot & he did not overprescribe, so I'm already anxious tapering. The husband idea is an absolute no go unfortunately. Very complicated. Thank you for taking the time, and taking care of Michigan!.
Avatar f tn I need some help interpreting my labs. My TSH was .09, my free T-3 was 2.3, my free T4 was 1.2, ferritin was 60 and vitamin D was 56. My endo says I am hyper. Any suggestions? I have been having random aches. I know this can be a symptom of hyper and hypo.
Avatar f tn Can someone interpret how my Labs look? 4 months on .50 mcg Synthroid. Hashimotos with goiter/nodules. I have attempted to find my old post from a while back but cannot locate it. Trying to get more familiar with board options. Apologies. Free T4 1.32 range .82-1.77 TSH .650 range .450-4.50 Free T3 3.3 range 2.0-4.44 B12 529 range 211-946 Vitamin D 24.8 range 30-100 (I know this means I am D deficient) TIA!
Avatar m tn Thanks. I've ordered her a test for the saliva cortisol - an all day test. I know the adrenals can effect the thyroid, but could it effect her thyroid enough for the last third of her to eyebrows virtually be missing? I've only seen that as a symptom of hypot, but I would have thought her labs would be more questionable. I'm still new at trying to figure these things out, so I didn't want to trust the "normal" that I've heard so much about in forums.
Avatar f tn got all my labs back from md for physical and alt and ast and enzymes are all very normal plus cholesterol..had liver dr appt today and waiting tosee if i cleared.. anxious... Pray for me..
Avatar f tn Just an update had my 2nd set of labs Tuesday and see my doc on Friday. My doctor does my labs every 4 weeks is that normal i hear some people memtion that they have them every 2 weeks? Also, i hear alot of people mentioning their ALT and AST levels and i am floored by how low they are my are extremely high AlT when i started was 360 and AST 330 does that mean my liver was more taxed?
1648173 tn?1373342935 Also it might help others taper a response based on your particulars if you post some of the values from your last set of labs. I am supposing you had baseline labs and those along with the labs you just had might help. Namely the values from your CBC (complete blood count) such as platelets, Prothrombin time PT) (how your blood is clotting) and so on. Baseline VL & current VL. Changes in VL often reveal how well or rapidly you are responding to the meds.
Avatar f tn Anyway - re-check your labs.
1746242 tn?1318209702 I go for labs tomorrow and they are doing a VL, I am trying to think positive but it's hard I have been let down so many times before!
Avatar f tn ) Should these labs be done at certain intervals? Also with the PTU should I be having my liver enzymes checked? I don't think my md has ever checked them. Another question--my Grave's was diagnosed by Nuclear scan--is this a sure way to diagnose Grave's? I had asked for my MD if he was ever going to do an antibody test and he finally did and I was told by his nurse that it came back negative. Does this mean that I don't have Grave's or what?
Avatar m tn Has anyone had any experience with Medical Diagnostic Labs in Hamilton N.J? I know Igenex is the preferred Lab but my doc sent bloodwork to M.D. L. Any thoughts?
