Does anyone know what to take for an alternative to Aggrenox? I had a TIA almost 4 years ago and was put on Aggrenox, well, my husband will be losing his job in a week due to the economy which also means we will be losing our health insurance as well. I asked my doctor if he could take me off it and put me on something else and all he said was he would prefer I stayed on Aggrenox. I don't think we can afford it because it is $305 for a month supply!
My mother had a stroke about 5 months ago and we are considering opening the blood thinning aggrenox capsules and giving her half the dosages with applesause. She is already on the lowest dosage available. It's always a crapshoot to take the chance to alter medication as your doctor will tell you.
The only thing aggrenox does is allow the blood to get through areas where the passages are very small due to calcification etc., so keeping the blood thin is important.
So if you have low cholesterol, normal blood pressure, healthy diet, no smoking, exercising, then that basically leaves genetics which is the bucket where the unknowns are thrown into. It may not be your reason, but many people don't even realise they are stressed. It becomes a part of every day life for many, and they don't see the impact it has on the body until it's too late. I had a few classes in relaxation, to overcome my stress.
s and a major stroke at 46 due to PFO and ASA and have been taking Aggrenox and Simvastatin since the event. I had infectious endocarditis (symptoms mimicked congestive heart failure) at 47 at MVP which has since calcified and since unknown source, had major anitbiotics covering every possibility for 2 months through a PIC line (vanc, gent, and 2 others) which resulted in kidney failure and creatinine now close to normal.
i went to the doctor yesterday and she took my blood pressure. it was 80/44 is that bad to be at the age of 17.
I always have low blood pressure because my iron levels are super low.
hi! i was diagnosed with vasovagal syncope. but i feel dizzy almost everyday in the morning after breakfast , sometimes feel dizzy the whole morning and sometimes the whole day, sometimes after eating sweets,sometimes after mild exertion, sometimes get dizzy with stress.my blood pressure is mostly 90-100/65-70,pulse 90-100 (sitting) i'm 35 years old.female skinny.
You should try to ask a doctor why he thinks your blood pressure is so low. Ask about your thyroid. Hypothyroid can cause low blood pressure among other things. Weight loss could cause your pressure to lower. Get yourself a home monitoring pressure device and take it daily in the morning and evening and adjust your diet accordingly. It sure has helped me.

I guess I feel alright it just worries me that my blood pressure is running low and I'm having these other health issues. Just took my BP again and it's 96/55 currently. My hands are always cold and I have been more tired recently. This is all so frustrating to me and I don't know what to do. I've had such a bad day with my chest aching, it's miserable. If that is acid irrirating my esophagus, then why aren't PPIs helping me?
So anyways, I was told I have low blood pressure. My problems have been for over a year, tired, (went from being extremely hyper person/ single mom with 3 kids running non stop and living off of 4 hours a sleep.) and feeling like I was stopping breathing at night. Had a fainting episode in that time frame where they found I need the pace maker. So now 4 months later I still have alot of symptoms that wont go away.
